Hill Top River Retreat

Cozy cottage with a beautiful river view and private dock, huge deck overlooking Chippewa bay. newly renovated kitchen with granite counter tops, huge living room with vaulted ceilings, 3 bedrooms with 2 full beds and one set of bunk beds. large TV, internet, Netflix and Hulu provided, trash and recycle provided. Propane fireplace in living room.
Chippewa bay is one of the widest areas of the river with some of the largest islands including Singer castle, Cedar island state park 5 minutes away by boat. This area is one of the most scenic areas without all the hustle and traffic of Alexandria bay or Clayton. The cottage is located on a small country dead end road, boat launch is 5 minutes away along with a small country store, Chippewa Bay is known for its excellent fishing. Gas and charcoal grill, all linens, towels, blankets provided along with a fully stocked kitchen. 20 foot pontoon boat available to rent with dock space. Pets are welcome. We have dock space for 2 boats if needed, unlike other places we do not charge extra for dock space.

We also have pontoon boats at our dock available for our guests to rent at affordable prices. No easier way to enjoy cruising, fishing and swimming than on our pontoon boat. Please let us know asap if you want to rent it so we can reserve it for you and have it ready to go. Damage deposit applies to the boat rental also. All pontoon boats are equipped with GPS navigation maps. Extra dock space available to rent if needed for $25 per day.

A Gem on Chippewa Bay

We had a great week at Brett's river retreat. The convenience of having our boat right out front to hop and and go was the reason we chose this listing. Brett was out of town but Ms. Alice took such great care of us all. You can't beat the location, it's central to everything you want to do. We'll be back again! Brett was out of town,but Ms. Ali

2024 Chippewa Bay fishing trip

My wife and I stayed at the cottage for a week. Everything was very clean and well supplied. Host was very friendly and informative about the area. It had a nice dock with power to charge our boat batteries. We will be going back in 2025.

Great vacation

Our family really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing time, great fishing, and friendly neighbors. Excellent communication from Alice and Brett. This was our 2nd year staying here and we are already looking forward to coming back next year!

2024 Vacation

Brett was away, but Alice did a fantastic job as his replacement. She made sure that we had a wonderful time and answered all of our questions and provided us with everything that we needed. This was our 4th year in a row staying with Brett/Alice and we will be back next year!

Nice cozy place

Nice small Neighborhood boat launch right around the corner Nice Owner Clean place small bedrooms like a old style cottage perfect for us it was great that we could bring our dog . We will go again

River Retreat

Brett and Alice are a great team. The cabin is always clean and well maintained. Fishing the river yields 3-5 pound bass regularly. Nice quiet neighborhood with good neighbors. The surrounding area is great for exploring. Would recommend this property to anyone.

Had the greatest time

First and foremost Brett was incredibly helpful. His knowledge of the river was very helpful for a great boating and fishing experience. Was reliable for any questions we had. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. Very well stocked kichen. Wonderfully peaceful area. Pontoon boat was in great condition. Will book again! Thank you Brett for your warm hospitality! Great Vacation

My family and two dogs enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Cottage was clean and well stocked with all the necessities. Brett was a very hospitable host, always helpful and available if needed. The cottage is also in a great location with beautiful sunsets. We rented a pontoon during our stay and we had a great time fishing everyday. Very happy with our stay and looking forward to next year!

WONDERFUL

Brett is an awesome host. He guided our son on the operation of the pontoon boat. Brett was available whenever needed. The cottage is very nice and the location is wonderful. Neighbors around but very quiet and relaxing. Our dogs also had a wonderful time. Thank you Brett for helping us create some wonderful memories.

Great time on the River

The property was as we expected. Kids loved going to the dock to fish. Close to towns but away from tourists. Very relaxing. Wonderful neighborhood. Brett and the neighbor's made us feel at home while on vacation. Alice is a treasure.

Classic camp on the river

We had an idyllic week at this traditional camp on the river. Check in and out couldn't have been easier. Brett, among with wonderful neighbors Denise and Alice, were very helpful, easily accessible, and always there to help. The location is wonderful; Chippewa Bay is picturesque and you're right on the river if you want to strike out for Abay. The boating, fishing and sunsets were exceptional. The outdoor deck was our favorite for grilling and chilling. It is a camp; we had to work out a couple kinks on the first day (you can't run both window AC's at once or the power blows, the oven pilot light has to be manually lit, and you can, but probably don't want to, drink the water due to taste/high iron content so stock up on bottled.) However, we had a GREAT WEEK. The camp is cozy and beds were comfy. We also rented a pontoon boat from Brett and really enjoyed boating over to Cedar Island State Park, a short few minutes away, where you can rent dock space for a small fee and use it all day. We swam off the pontoon boat as well. It was a great add to the week! Everyone in the neighborhood was so nice. We've rented places before that were nice but the neighbors were not, and that can ruin a vacation. Well, the neighbors here were WONDERFUL. Brett brought us fresh fish he'd caught, and Denise/Alice were always available with the golf cart if needed or with help of any sort. It's a lovely little community. We would definitely recommend/book again.

A great Fourth of July 2023

My wife and I had another couple that’s never been there before come with us the cabin was very clean and convenient close to boat launch nice docking access owner was very helpful actually rented a pontoon boat to tour them around all the islands very nice day all of us had an awesome vacation would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away hope to come back next year thank you Brett 👍

Horrible Experience

The cottage is very old. Beds were not good, ants all over and a toaster from the 60’s. The boat is very old and not in great shape. None of the gauge’s work, GPS kept turning off, topped off at around 10MPH. I could live with all that. The main problem was Brett. After a mishap with the boat which my wife and I repeatedly apologized for, he started sending nasty texts to my wife calling us liars and accusing us of not using the GPS. He came to the cottage and screamed at me and my family, calling me all sorts of names and repeatedly asking me to fight him. When I wouldn’t fight, he kept calling me a coward. There was never a chance to have a civil conversation with him as he would not stop yelling. His nasty texts went on for several days after, where he kept calling me names and accusing me of falsehoods. This completely ruined our trip as we had to pack up everything as fast as we could and drive through the night to get home. We lost our last night and final day. I would really think twice about renting from him, especially if you want to rent the boat. He is great as long as nothing goes wrong then he turns into a maniac.

Great escape

Wow! What a picture perfect stay at hilltop retreat. Our first time to the area, and we couldn’t have picked a better neighborhood to stay. Quiet, rural area but an easy 15-30 min drive to neighboring towns. Brett made the check-in process a breeze and was easily accessible by phone and in person. We loved having a water view from the cottage, and found it easy to maneuver with 6 of us inside. My only recommendation would be a replacement of the one double bed, as I don’t enjoy feeling mattress springs 🙃 thank you for providing comforts of home to us!!

The property is clean and well maintained. Getting boats to and from the dock is challenging due to changing river levels but Brett manages to keep a small channel open.

Excellent fun

This was our first trip with our dogs for a week. The area is very nice and on a road where we could easily walk the dogs. The house was comfortable and well stocked. The area and roads provided ease with traveling to other popular spots in the islands. Brett was great, there to say hi and check in everyday.
