Perfect little get away

Last summer my husband and daughter were in town for a family celebration. My sister-in-law’s family owns a lake house down the road from this. This little house was exactly what we needed. Waking up to the sunrise on the lake was peaceful. When some of my nieces decided they wanted to stay with us we pitched a tent in the back and it was perfect. I never leave reviews but wanted to for this and forgot. Now we are looking to book again for this summer and I thought “I should go post my review for last year as this quaint home so deserves it”!

A tiny but nice house with direct access to a private dock; good for family getaway.

The house is tiny but nicely designed and built. It has all the necessities, a fire pit, a grill (outdoor) and direct access to a private dock where you can enjoy the lake view and fishing. We are also glad to know we are the first guests so everything is brand new. We enjoyed our stay. My kids love the fire pit, grill, house etc. My husband loves the fishing. By the way, it’s easy to fish; we caught 8 fish in about half hours. The house is close to a lot of attractions, e.g. finger lake area, falls, state parks, Cornell University (1-hr driving) and PA Grand Canyon (1.5-hr driving). The host Debbie is very friendly and responsive.

Weekend away

The property and house were exactly as advertised. Small, but clean and cozy. Nice view of the lake and just a few steps away from the water. Perfect for kayaking. A bit weedy for swimming. We mostly just waded in the water. Location is great. Close to lots of things to do.

The house was great and met our expectations. Dock access allowed us use our boat to fish and relax.

Location of the house gave us short drives to our favorite wineries and breweries. Will definitely come again.

The tiny house was fine but better suited for a younger family. My wife and I are in our sixties and the thin mattress on the foldout sofa didn't do it for us. She used the sofa and I used one of the bunks. I kept hitting my head on the upper bunk when lying down or getting up and I'm only 5'5". To be fair this was listed as a camp. It's not a motel room. So expect a camp experience. We're from NYC so we like to lock the front door when we're out but the lock on the sliding glass door was unworkable. We just gave up on it and accepted that the area was idyllic enough not to worry about it. Our motivation for getting out of town was the pursuit of peace and quiet in a rural setting. Unfortunately the owner was doing construction work on the property during our stay. A backhoe and dump truck was being used for excavation for part of the day every day for the four days we were there. Perhaps the owner didn't want us to get homesick for the cacophony we left at home. The owner did do us a kindness by advising us to bring bottled water due to the high iron content in the tap water. Well, iron was the least of it. The strong smell of sulphur kept us out of the shower for the duration. This is common to the area I later found out so I'll just chalk that up to the price of an education. Otherwise the lake was beautiful and the weather was great for hiking, fishing, and an evening camp fire. We did manage to enjoy ourselves.

Tiny house Waneta Lake

The house exceeded our expectations. Small, but completely functional, clean, nicely decorated . Having the BBQ was an extra bonus. The best part of it all though was the setting, unbelievable view of the lake, our own dock and peace and quiet. We would absolutely stay there again. Just one suggestion, maybe put some more hooks in the bathroom to hang more things. Thank you!

Wonderful Experience

This tiny house was prefect for our stay in the Finger Lakes. The picnic table, Adirondack chairs by fire pit and down by lake were perfect for your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Docking our boat at the house was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again.

The perfect tiny cottage on the lake

Our first impression when arriving was how clean, neat and cozy the little cottage was. To be honest it was a tight fit for four but we enjoyed every minute and appreciated how well organized and furnished/stocked the property was. Highly recommended!
