    Lovely break in lovely Boulogne

    Maxime is a lovely host and super easy to deal with. Maison St Marc has been been beautifully restored and decorated to a very high standard. The location is superb, being very easy to walk to the old town (great for bars and restaurants etc). The nearby bakery also gets a special mention. The only quibble (and it is just a quibble) was the parking which was advertised as “onsite”. In reality, it’s on the street. It is free and we never had a problem parking, but we specifically booked St Marc believing it offered off street parking. But none of this detracts from a wonderful stay in a very lovely part of France which too many Brits hurry past as they head south from Calais. We were very sad to leave.

    Paar dagen verbleven bij La Maison Max

    Wij vonden het een leuke plek om te verblijven voor een paar dagen. We werden heel vriendelijk onthaald door Maxime, een heel aangenaam persoon die ons verwelkomde. We spraken in het Engels en dat ging vlot. Er was ook koffie, thee en we kregen Madeleintjes :) Wij hebben zalig geslapen in het bed. De badkamer en keuken zijn niet erg groot maar wel erg praktisch. En dan heb je nog eens een ruimte met een tafel, bank en stoelen en een erg leuke woonkamer. Voor ons was dat meer dan voldoende! De slaapkamer is apart. Maxime en Yann wonen boven in het huis. Maar je hebt zeker meer dan voldoende privacy! We mochten ook steeds bellen als er iets was. La maison ligt net buiten de oude stad, je bent er zo. Daar heb je enkele winkeltjes, meerdere restaurantjes (l'Ilot Vert). We vonden het zalig wandelen op de vestigingsmuren en nabij het chateau. We bezochten er ook de basiliek en de zeer mooie crypte!! We deden ook de street art route waarbij je doorheen verschillende wijken in de stad wandelt, ook doorheen de winkelstraten (rue Victor Hugo en A. Thiers). Er zijn prachtige murals bij! Ook in Nausicaa kan je uren rondwandelen. We gingen ook eens naar de vismarkt en gingen fruits de mer eten bij Le Chatillon, heel speciaal gelegen maar zalig verse vis !! Ook place Dalton vonden wij een erg leuke plek om te vertoeven in het zonnetje of te eten bij Chez Jules (heel lekker en wat een royale porties!). In de buurt zijn supermarkten, bakkers.. Wij vonden het verblijf erg leuk!
