Loved this rental! Great location in the cove. Easy to bring in another boat. At least 8ft off the end of the dock. Enjoyed our time outside and inside on the big screened in porch!
We had a great weekend and the house was perfect for two families. We had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the lake. Erin and Sean were perfect hosts.
This was our first visit to Lake Gaston. The Golden Sunset Cottage was perfect for our vacation. The location was great being in the cove, set back in away from boat traffic and a nice spot for the kids to swim off the dock and fish. It was a short distance to the main part of the lake for boating. The house was perfect for our family group of 5 adults and 6 kids. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. We all enjoyed the screened in porch and morning view of the lake. Communication with our hostess Erin was great! She was very responsive with any questions/concerns we had.
We had someone parked in our driveway and using the dock and equipment our next to last day. That was surprising, but they left when we went to the dock. I'm guessing it was the owner's kids or friends of the family.
Excellent location on the lake. Great equipment available for lake activities. This is the type of house just for sleeping and then you spend your time outside. Which is exactly what some people are looking for. This is not a luxury house. There is 1 comfortable bed and the couches are better quality too. The others sink right to the box springs. The front door is difficult to open. You must take all trash to the dump or with you. That was shocking for the price.
The house is average with poor insulation and low-quality paint that makes the walls sweat. You absolutely cannot WFH here. The wifi only works after midnight-about 5am. Streaming is available, but will not work due to poor wifi. There is not a DVD player so the TVs are only good at certain times, when the internet works. One wasn't even plugged in. There are board games and a pool table. Not our cup of tea and we won't be going back.
My family and I spent Thanksgiving here and we really enjoyed our stay. The host got back to me quickly when I reached out to her on a minor issue. The view was amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of pots and pans to prepare our meals. Cell service wasn’t the best but we didn’t mind because we kept ourselves busy playing pool and other games.
Beautiful home on Lake Gaston! The kitchen had everything you’d need and the home is nicely decorated and the beds were comfy. We didn’t get to use the outdoor games or equipment due to the weather but it was well stocked. The only down side was that the Internet connection was a bit weak, but fortunately we were only there for a short time. The host was very quick to respond and helpful with any questions we had. Would stay there again!
We had an amazing week at Golden Sunset Cottage! The house was immaculate and roomy. Their screened porch (with a ceiling fan) gave us hours of comfortable reading, computer work and birdwatching. The beds were comfortable and the sheets soft. I have trouble doing stairs but these were designed perfectly with bannisters all the way along the steps. There were enough stairs for me to get to the lake and onto the dock. The lake was warm but refreshing and very clean. No leeches. The dogs we like kids and didn't want to get out of the water!
We prepared all our meals but 2 in a well-equipped kitchen. One dinner we had out was at the Blue Jay Cafe, a bit pricey but work every penny. The food and service was on a par with what we've had in cosmopolitan areas. Thank you for a wonderful opportunity. We hope to see you again!
We had a wonderful time on our family vacation. Communication with Shawn and Erin was very good. The driveway is a bit steep and had a few issues getting up it but overall our annual trip to Lake Gaston was great.
Erin and Shawn Carter (owners) made us feel very welcome from our first communication. The house is beautiful and very user friendly. It has all the amenities we needed and was amazing overall. I highly recommend this lake house to anyone looking for a Lake Gaston getaway!
Had a great time at the lake, perfect spot to hang out with friends. Wifi/cell service isn’t great out there so make sure to put the address in the gps early on.
Our extended family had a wonderful week at the lake. The fishing from the dock make our fishing folks very happy while others preferred swimming and paddle boarding. The screened porch was a favorite gathering area and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our only concern was the condition of the driveway, but we made it work. Thanks soooo much for sharing your lake house with us!
We absolutely loved the location of the house. The cove was perfect for the kids to kayak and paddle board and also the perfect place for them to learn to water ski. The house was well stocked with everything we would need to cook all of our meals at the house. The only complaint was the cleanlinesss of the house. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned upon our arrival. There were also many bugs on the bottom floor. The floors were dirty and it didn’t seem like the sheets had been washed after the previous visit. Besides the cleanliness we would def recommend this house and would absolutely rent it again.
Enjoyed our stay at Lake Gaston. This was our second visit and we would definitely return. Communication with owner was great. Great set up for families. The cove swimming was the best! ❤️
Great house with amazing water.
Excellent communication with the owners.
Driveway is a bit steep, not recommended if you are pulling a trailer. Plenty of space to park on the top of the property.
The house is located in a quiet cove which was perfect for our large blended family. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board included in the rental. Our week at the lake was comfortable because the house was perfectly sized for our family of 11. The owners were very helpful and answered questions in a timely manner. We would definitely rent this property again.
We all 4 generations from 7-92 years of age and a young golden retriever all had a grand time. We loved the location being in deep water and the dock for the boat was great. The kids loved the dock jumping off and the floating blue mat to play on. The kids enjoyed the pool table too. The Wi-Fi for phones or tv was not great but that was expected. The gravel dirt road down to the house is a little bit challenging with ruts. The only thing that we could complain about was the cleanliness of the downstairs when we arrived and had to clean and vacuum quite a lot of spiders, bugs, pet hair and spiderwebs out till 1am but it’s really deep cleaned now. We washed all beds bedding too just to make sure no bugs, eggs or spiders were in them but one bed sheet set in queen bedroom downstairs was dirty anyway. Come to find out that night while cleaning that a window behind downstairs sofa was pushed out and completely open to the outside critters. Not sure how long it had been that way. We contacted the owners about 9pm the first night while cleaning and Mr Carter came out that night but we asked him to come over the next am about 10. He was very courteous and brought bug spray and had planned on cleaning with a helper but we had done it all the night before. He was very responsive and helpful. After the first night we all had a great time and would definitely love to go back. It was nearby to boat to restaurants and ice cream places. The sunset boating trips and the boating in general was wonderful. We launched our boat at the Eaton Ferry Marina. In Littleton the LG outfitters store and the coffee/deli across the street were really nice and yummy food too. The Food Lion is just down the street from those two places. All in all it was a fun, relaxing and enjoyable place to stay and the area was great.
