The second bedroom is in a basement, with a narrow, and dangerously steep, ladder to get you into the basement room. It is described as a “souplex” and “flexiblex” which appears to mean there is a downstairs bedroom; but could also mean "creepy basement" . There were NO pictures of the trap door (which is in the living room) on VRBO, Neither was the room with the ladder made up as a bedroom, leading us to believe that the room with the ladder was some sort of TV room. We never imagined that as the second bedroom. We felt like this was falsified advertising, or at least underselling the difficulty that the basement room presents.
My son needs a knee replacement and could never be able to navigate that ladder. My wife and I are in our mid 60s and there is only a 2 foot railing on the 8 foot ladder; this would have been EXTREMELY dangerous for us to try for the entire week that we were staying. If there HAD been pictures of the trap door, or the steeply dangerous ladder that led to a bedroom, we would NEVER have booked the flat.
Also, when we attempted to get some refund from the owner we got no response other than to tell us that he had advertised it as a “Souplex” and Flexiblex”… both words we had never heard before, and assumed they were mistranslated from the French. We gave the owner 3 chances to make this right with us and he was unresponsive.
We would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!
