It was our second anniversary and this place was just a fantastic stay. It was gorgeous and even better than we could have thought it to be. Would definitely stay here again.
The Sweetwater Cottage was everything as advertised. Our host quickly answered our questions before our stay. The location is very nice, just a few minutes from Ludington State Park, and close to Stearns Park for great sunsets.
The VRBO site wasn't easy to communicate with the host. The Property was very clean except the oven. Great color & weather for this time of year. We would stay again.
Cottage felt bigger and more open inside even than the pictures. The backyard is beautiful and fire pit was great. The canal is sheltered from wind and waves so great if you want to keep your boat in the water all day/night. Would recommend!
My family stayed at this rental for 5 nights and it was just perfect for our little getaway. Even though it's not really within walking distance to beaches/downtown area, the drives are short and the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The rental itself was also great. Very clean, fully stocked with anything you might need, very happy with our stay.
This was a return visit that did not disappoint. The atmosphere, cleanliness, and the quietness did not disappoint. We are already planning 2025's visit.
This was our second stay. The house is very clean and contains everything would need for your stay. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and the off the beaten path location. The location is close to many beautiful beaches, the state park, Lake Hamlin and a great DOWNTON area with restaurants and shopping.
We will stay again for sure.
We had a great time at the Cottage! It is a very short canal ride to the beautiful Hamlin lake! We were pleasantly surprised by the short walk to the beach! A state park beach in a “gravel pit” like lake. We didn’t even know existed! The last road you can take before the prettiest lakeshore in Michigan. We will most definitely be staying here again!
This was my family’s second year staying here.
The house is very clean and cozy. Great amenities. The host is easy to get a hold of. The neighborhood is quiet. And the location is perfect for the state park. There’s only good things to say.
We chose to stay here after Labor Day & found that it was very quiet and a great place to relax. The kids played in the sand constantly while my husband & I sat nearby on the lawn. The house was clean & check in/check out instructions were clear. The house was also stocked with essentials we needed or may have forgotten like coffee & sugar, plastic baggies, hair dryer, etc. The house is just a few minutes from great restaurants, parks, museums, and downtown Ludington. We did a little bit of everything during our stay and really enjoyed it. There is plenty to do at the property if you want to stay in, too: beautiful yard to enjoy, games, puzzles, TV, etc.
The property was very clean and had plenty of space. Nice quiet location near the water and close enough to all the nearby attractions. We plan to come back in the future and will be seeing if this place is available again!!
Very clean property located near state park and Hamlin Lake. Property had all needed amenities and was perfect for a family of 4. Checkin and checkout were very easy.
We will definitely plan to stay here again the next time we stay in the Ludington area.
We had a great time at this cottage! The area was quiet and peaceful, neighbors were so kind and we had all that we needed and more! This location doesn’t skimp on beautiful Sights to see and is located near a small more private lake and beach area that is great for kids! Host was very responsive with any questions leading up to the trip and also throughout!
Lovely area, peaceful cottage. We felt like we were staying in a friend’s home. Clean, bright, and very well taken care of! All the amenities you would put in your own cottage. Close to the State Park and downtown Ludington. Hope to visit again soon!
The house is very clean and cozy. It has everything you need in the kitchen. Great location with dock access to the lake via a channel. We loved being so close to the State Park. This place will not disappoint.
We throughly enjoyed our stay. The house is fully supplied with everything you would need for a stay. We enjoyed being on the water however the canal was too shallow for us to dock our boat. But no worries, the cottage is within minutes of the boat launch in beautiful Ludington state park. And, only a few miles from the boat launch in downtown Ludington. The area is packed with things to do.
We had a lot of fun. The property was everything we had hoped for. The neighborhood is way set back off the beaten path, but not too horribly much. Overall was a fun little cottage. Wifi worked, but we had to reset the router and modem to get it work. Lake channel access which we didn't use, but a nice place. The neighbors were a little creepy tho. They kept glaring at us. They were kind, but creepy. Overall got a snooty vibe from a small cottage community. If you're chill, it will be fine.
This house was great and exceeded our expectations. A perfect spot on a channel just off the South end of Lower Hamlin Lake. This home had everything we needed and was very clean. The owners were great to work with and very responsive. We had all the necessities of home (coffee maker, TV, cable, Streaming device, microwave, toaster, washer/dryer, gas grill, dishwasher, WIFI, etc. Both bedrooms were nice and comfortable. The master bath has a great tub / shower while the other bathroom has a small walk in shower. The lake was amazing with crystal clear water and great fishing. The home offers up a nice dock area for your boat and also has a sandy beach section with fire pit. If you don’t want to tackle the big lake there is a large network of channels that are great for kayaking or a slow boat cruise. The house is located in a semi-private area near the end of a gravel road and is very peaceful. The neighboring houses were very quiet and kept to themselves and probably appreciated us doing the same. This is not an area for parties, loud music, or large gatherings. There is parking for two vehicles in the driveway and another vehicle /trailer across the street if needed. Downtown Ludington is only 10 minutes away and offers up many dining and entertainment options. We highly recommend this rental and can’t wait to visit this gem again next year. We have rented dozens of places on VRBO and this is one of our favorites so far.
This was a really nice little cottage that sat on a canal that fed into Hamlin lake. It was super clean and quite well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen, plenty of towels, and sheets, and even beach towels. It was incredibly close to Ludington State Park and unbeknownst to us, there is a terrific and very clean little lake with wonderful sand just behind the property within walking distance. Our Littles really enjoyed that lake because it was so shallow and clean. It was also a little warmer than Lake Michigan.
The canal that is in front of the property, unfortunately is slow moving and was full of algae slime, probably from ChemLawn run off throughout the canal neighborhood. Regardless, the kids loved the little beach area by the canal and we also used the fire pit down there to make s’more’s. There were a fair number of nail pops on the pier area, which made us make sure all the kids had shoes on down there. If I had a hammer, I would’ve tapped them in myself.
I wish there would’ve been an outside spigot that we could’ve used to wash the sand off of the kids before they came into the house. We did the best we could, and it was not a major issue. I just like to try to treat other peoples property as if it was my own. The unit was fully stocked with everything you needed to have an enjoyable time. Spices, coffee, soap, paper products, etc.
The only suggestion I have is that the sofa bed be replaced or guest should bring a blowup bed
Property was exactly what we were looking for in a fall getaway. What a beautiful setting. Very close to the State park. Short drive to Ludington. We visited Baldwin, Branch, Scottville, Heston, Manistee lovely area. The cottage it self was laid out nice. Very clean and well stocked. Was very enjoyable eating breakfast in the 3 season room over looking the channel. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for sharing your slice of Heaven.
I loved this property the minute we drove up and especially when we walked in the door!! It far exceeded my expectations and the pictures don’t do it justice!! We did a fall color tour and this location was perfect!! Minutes from downtown Ludington and Lake Michigan! Within driving distance to the places we had mapped out! This house has everything you need!! Towels, extra bedding, washer and dryer!! Host supplies toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning supplies and even coffee and filters!! Also water in the fridge!! We left extra bottles for the next guests!! Beautiful sunroom and outdoor space right on the canal with a fire pit!! I highly recommend this property!! You will not be disappointed!! Thank you again for a fantastic stay!! We would definitely stay here again!!
Beautiful canal property just around the corner from Ludington State Park
Ideal for Lake Michigan lovers. Quiet peaceful cabin community that makes you feel like you’ve come home. If you love the Ludington State Park, you will love the location. The cabin is clean, bright and well put together.
Ludington is a great place to visit. We took the USS Badger across Lake Michigan and stayed at this adorable home right on a canal to Lake Hamlin. Beautiful piece of property with access to fishing. It was clean and well equipped. I want to give it 5 stars but our friends were not able to use the guest shower (plumbing problem) and the master bath showerhead was a bit challenging. The back sliding door was difficult to use as well. We made the host aware and I’m sure they will remedy it. Overall we really enjoyed our time in this home. The hosts provided great tips for local places (pizza place is very good). There’s a great ice cream shop in town called House of Flavors. There’s also a gorgeous beach in town. We would love to come back to this area one day and despite the couple of issues, we do recommend this place as I’m sure the hosts will address the problems we encountered.
