Privacy, Peace and Tranquility!
Come and relax on your very own private nine acre Island, accessible by vehicle, has hundreds of feet of incredibly beautiful water frontage and comes complete with a 2 story log sided home offering 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 10 foot ceilings and knotty pine throughout.
Feel time and stress melt away! Take a morning stroll down the trails to view the sunrise at The Point and relax on the water at the beach when it's time to view the sunsets. With plenty to enjoy inbetween sunrises and sunsets, swimming, kyaking, canoeing, horseshoes, darts and cornhole to name a few. Roasting marshmallows and making smores by the firepit in the evening while gazing at the star filled night sky. Come and enjoy the many trails, perennial gardens and beautiful natural Maine woods that Tsuga Island has to offer.
The home comes complete with a large open first floor for entertaining with a wet bar, large screen tv with dvd player and direct tv services and plenty of board games. The kitchen is small but very functional with a large dining/gaming table. Upstairs all 3 bedrooms come with their own tvs with direct tv service. The home includes highspeed fiber with wireless internet access.
Sebasticook Lake is one of the premier bodies of water in central Maine with over 4200 acres and depths up to 60 feet. Tsuga Island is just 5 miles to downtown Newport, Town Boat Launch and easy Boat and Jetski rentals at the Marina, nearby Atv Trails, Interstate 95 and less than 45 minutes to Bangor International airport, Hollywood Slots Casino, shopping malls, restaurants, hiking, and the Maine Highlands. Centrally located for easy day trips to Acadia National park, Downeast Maine and so much more!
The island features sandy, shallow beaches and trails along the western shore line, an abundance of birds and fish in their natural habitats for your enjoyment. The east side of the island borders a beautiful marsh of reeds, cattails and an incredible variety of birds.
The cedar tree-lined edge with mossy rocks, ferns and boulders feels like stepping back in time. The north end is home to an evergreen forest. The entire island has mature Tsuga (Hemlock trees) and unique plants. Mushrooms and wildflowers bloom in abundance.

Best in over 20 years of Doggy vacations

It is perfect! Great privacy while close to stores. Great swimming for humans and dogs. Thoughtful gift and flowers. I would definitely go back next year. Usually there is a few things not ideal for us or our dogs but this place had it all. Thank you so much.

Lake Perfection!

The pictures do not due justice to this beautiful property. The owners, Gwen & Scott go above & beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful. They are so easy to work with, thought of every little detail and are available if you need anything. The house is comfortable, clean, spacious and so well kept. The grounds and lake are gorgeous. The fire pit is huge and stocked with plenty of wood for nightly fires. The amenities are endless. We were two families that had a great week there.

Perfect retreat

Gwen and Scott thought of everything to make your vacation easy as pie! The house was well appointed, very clean, and larger than expected. Beds were very comfortable. The outside area was fabulous! Plenty of seating, beautiful landscaping, little paths throughout the property! Our dogs had a terrific time running around off leash! Swimming everyday! They were pooped, and actually started crying as we pulled out to head for home. Thanks for a great week!!! Pennelli family

Don’t sleep on it just book it 😊

I was fortunate enough to snatch this gem up for our 2023 family summer vacation. My husband and I, two teenage boys and a 5 year old had an absolutely amazing time. The entire property is so thoughtfully laid out; it is hands down the best place we’ve ever vacationed. We were able to have two jet skis delivered which their dock fully accommodated. We had a couple day trips to Bar Harbor as well as Booth Bay for some whale watching. Saw three humpbacks!! Scott and Gwen were the perfect hosts. So lucky they share; I have never been able to decompress like I did on Tsuga Island🙂

Escape from it all

Staying at Tsuga island is nothing less than relaxing. All you need is right there on the island. The house was very well stocked with everything you will need. We only left the house to buy food! Gwen and Scott have gone above and beyond to make you feel welcome. From the moment we walked in with our 4 children and 2 large 9 month puppies we were all smiles. The kids loved lake life and exploring the island. They were also in their glory with the kids room and secret door! Even the dogs knew how to open the door by the end of our stay. They also thoroughly loved running the island. Maine is glorious in August! If you get the chance this is a must stay!!! We hope to be back again.

A week in August by the lake

The house/surroundings have fantastic ratings and they are well deserved. It is an extremely well maintained property and delivers on everything advertised. There is obvious attention to detail in how the property is maintained and in many years of renting, this is the best maintained rental that I have come across. I chose this house as my wife wanted a house by a lake - my kids and I prefer to be beside the ocean, but I caved this once ! I still prefer the ocean (we did a 2 hour each way day trip to Acadia one day), but the lake was great - and I did catch a 2lb+ Smallmouth bass on a fly which was great .... if you use a boat engine, be careful about rocks. They are not all marked with a buoy, and you can find some the hard way, as we did - but no damage done, just a scary moment or two, If you go slow the first day you will get the hang of the place - and it is not an issue. Overall a fantastic rental with fantastic hosts !

Perfect Family Getaway

I spent a week at Scott and Gwen's with my wife and three kids and it was awesome! The property is so unique and well maintained it made our week so special. From chairs at the beach, to benches along the walking trail that follows the shoreline, to the firepit and outside areas, to all of the accessories they provide in the house they have though of everything making our stay so relaxing. Scott and Gwen were so nice, easy to deal with and attentive to our needs it took all of the pressure off of our week away. Great people, great place, great vacation, can't wait to go back!

Tsuga Island is amazing! The homeowners thought of everything to make their guests feel at home. We loved our time living lakeside and our dog lived her best life running through the woods and swimming everyday!

Amazing family vacation!

Tsuga Island is a great get-away for family and/or friends. It is private and fun. The owners have thought of everything needed to have a great camp getaway. The cabin is very comfortable and well thought out and has everything you could need for a great time. The lake is right at the end of the yard with fun paths that you can take (several different ways to get there). There are a lot of comfy chairs available and a dock. Nice swimming beach right there. Huge fire pit by the BBQ area for night sky watching and S'mores. The owners have created many nice walking paths throughout property with hidden gems amongst the great nature. So fun. Our dog had an amazing time too! Off leash for a week, walking on fun paths and romping in the yard with us. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great family-time (or friend's getway) Maine camp style trip. Thank you to the owners for the lovely thoughtful welcome bag and fresh flowers!! Never had that at a VRBO and a great touch.

Beautiful spot

This was a beautiful place, with a large property that included groomed walking trails and private lakefront. Hosts thought of every detail: lawn games, fire pit, screen rooms with seating and candles, kayaks . . . We didn’t need to leave for anything but groceries! If you want tranquility, this is the place. Watch sunsets from the dock and listen to the loons calling across the lake. We were completely relaxed.

Month Long Stay on Beautiful Island

Gwen and Scott have built an amazing property on their island getaway in central Maine. My family stayed here for the month of June, while my partner and I were on parental leave with our newborn and 2 year old. Our hosts went above and beyond with their amenities, including a bassinet, stroller, diaper pail, high chair, not to mention the fun amenities for adults (games, grill supplies, bar supplies, lake gear, toiletries, etc). They are extremely thoughtful and considerate in prepping their property for guests. The property itself was a wonderful retreat for our family of 4, as well as our 3 dogs who loved to roam around the island. We made memories that will last a lifetime. I hope to be able to return with the family in future summers. I cannot say enough about the property and the wonderful hosts!!

Great Stay To Recharge Your Batteries

We drove up from NYC. The description is spot on but does not do the space justice. The attention to detail is beyond, you can tell the owners really care and want you to have the best experience. They had gift baskets with back up toiletries, games, bug sprays, outdoor games, a smores kit, a gift bag with Maine novelties and plenty of supplies. It was super clean and absolutely cared for. We were welcomed by the hosts and walked through everything and then they left us to our relaxation. We traveled with our two kids and they loved searching through the property for hidden fairies, gnomes and bear sculptures. A GREAT trip and we loved it. THANK YOU!

Absolutely Amazing!!

From the second we found this property we were sold. Gwen and Scott were so nice answering all of our questions prior to booking and up to our actual stay. The house is adorable and the property is amazing, I'd love to live there permanently! Gwen and Scott are so thoughtful in the house and property amenities, they even have wonderful personal touches throughout the property including hidden gnomes, which the kids loved looking for. We spent all our time using the kayaks, canoe and kick boards. We loved the GIANT fire pit and screened in gazebo.. Very fun and relaxing time had by all! Gwen and Scott made us feel at gome, they are SOOOO nice! Seriously, stay here!! :)

Charming Maine Lake House

This property is the best VRBO I’ve ever experienced. The house was true the pictures posted. It was very clean and extremely well equipped. The entire property was very well maintained and had everything you can hope to have for a Maine getaway; canoe, kayaks, boat dock, walking trails with loads of charm, screen house with lots of seating, lots of seating around fire pit, near barbecue grill, lakeside… there was even a corn hole game which we had a great time with. The property has plenty of parking for visiting friends and family. The house had a nice big dining table, lots of comfy furniture, and wet bar fully prepared for coffee and libations, games, puzzles, magazines, two refrigerators, and a very large TV. The 3 upstairs bedroom are all spacious and one has it’s on on-suite bathroom. The AC units downstairs and upstairs kept us very comfortable on warmer days. The laundry room was great. The pantry had all the kitchen equipment you could want. And the whole house is says “MAINE”. The hosts were great and thought of every detail to make guests feel very welcome and comfortable. We’ll be back next year!

A wonderful week on Tsuga Island

We recently spent a week at Tsuga Island and it was Fantastic!! The home is spacious, beautiful, and very well appointed. The land was more than we expected. The large yard was great for lawn games and the waterfront area was beautiful. There was room at the water for everyone to spread out & enjoy the lake. This was also a very private area of the lake which is what we wanted. The owners were great. Gwen met us at the house and gave us a quick walk through so we would know where everything was. This rental exceeded our expectations.

Being a “Bond villain” simply couldn’t be more awesome!!

The owners, Gwen & Scott, met us at the house when we arrived and gave us a tour. They were fantastic through our stay, always responsive and helpful. It turned out we were the first to go “full Bond villain” and rent the island for a whole two weeks. The house was beautifully appointed, having just been fully refurbished. High ceilings, great ventilation (thank heavens, given the temperatures we were nailed with), hard wood everywhere - the downstairs is a single, beautiful, huge room encompassing the kitchen, dining area, a full bar (!) and the largest TV I’ve ever seen (not that it got much use). In terms of “stuff for cooks”, there was simply everything you can imagine needing. The bedrooms were very, very comfortable and the two bathrooms superb. Overall I have to say that, in 15 years of renting houses via VRBO and it’s historic partner sites, this is simply THE best appointed house we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Now, onto the even cooler stuff … you’re on a private island on a huge lake, which is pretty neat in itself. Even better were the well managed trails, small (very private) beach and general outlook. This place is staggeringly beautiful. THE definition of quiet and relaxed. Swimming with the dogs (all 4 of them - plus Titan, Gwen & Scott’s beautiful dude came over to play), great selection of kayaks, canoes and body boards made things all the more special. Much fun was had by all, despite me becoming an “all you can eat buffet” for the bugs (that’s a ‘me’ thing - happens everywhere). On the bug topic, there is a truly fantastic “bug tent” on the front lawn, by the excellent grill - when we sat in there during the day, no bites! A really thoughtful touch … and, yes, I’ve already ordered one for home. Local amenities are relatively simple, but much more than adequate - a great Hannaford’s, a large Walmart (with a great grocery section … and it’s a Walmart. You want it? They have it.). Other local places were also good - keep an eye on the side of the road while in the area; there are some little gems that don’t show in Google Maps … We had a wonderful time and dearly want to go back (and very definitely didn’t want to leave). Last point - the “Bond villain lair” is less than 10 minutes from the I-95 exit for Newport. Nice and easy … even with the hauler we brought about 2 tons of dog stuff in. Just rent it now. There will be NO regrets. Simply fantastic!!’
