Upon entering, guests are welcomed into the cottage lobby where the owner's son has a snack bar. Grab a snack and leave a donation to encourage his entrepreneurial spirit and support his endeavors!

I'd definitely come back for it!

Great place to stay, with vintage aesthetic, comfortable mattress, fully-equipped kitchen and spotless cleanliness. Host has done everything and beyond to make this a five-star experience and I truly appreciated. Thank you for the snacks! Only complaint was the AC being rattling but host addressed it quickly. It can be noisy occasionally at night as it's next to a busy train track- hence one star off. But overall a great place to stay if you are here to explore the outdoor, highly recommended!

Cutest Little Cottage

This was a great, affordable property for me and my husband. It was very easy to find. We stayed in room #2. The room was very comfortable, including the bed. My absolute favorite thing about the room was the bathroom floor. It was pennies! I would definitely stay here again given the chance!

I chose this room from the pictures that showed a chair that was possibly a recliner due to my arthritis and hi replacements I have had. I inquired before booking and was told there were no recliners. I booked it anyway because of that chair in the picture which was nowhere to be found. I received an access code and Wi-Fi information on the app. A couple of hours before check in time I received an anonymous message saying they would send my code. I told them I had a code. Got to the room and the code would not work. Finally got in the room, no chair and Wi-Fi code did not work. Got the tv on but it would not accept my checkout date.No tv. Bed was so high I had trouble getting on it and coffee maker was dirty. The house it’s self was nice. Clean other than the coffee pot. The last night I came home and was locked out. None of the codes I had worked to get in the door,. I liked where it was located but would not stay there again.

This is the cutest little suite.

This suite is so beautiful. And one of the most comfortable beds I slept on in a room. The location is great and I just loved everything about it. I highly recommend staying here. And will be back for a quite weekend away.

Very conveniently located to outdoor activities, shopping, and dining. We noticed a couple of minor things when we arrived, but the owner was very responsive. We would definitely stay again. My only “complaints” would be that the bed/mattress was a little uncomfortable and the walls are thin (we could hear people occupying the adjacent suite quite well), but overall a great stay. Thank you!

Very Charming

This was a very clean and updated suite with everything we needed. The owner was so accommodating and we felt very much at home. The bed is very comfortable with soft, nice linens that weren’t cheap. Air was very nice and cool since we were here in July. Thank you for having us! My sister and I had much needed girl time!

Nice quiet neighbor hood. You will hear the train sometimes. Peaceful and beautiful.

Beautiful Cottage. Well maintained. I have recommended it to several people. Love the trees and sitting area around them. For people that drive trucks it is a tight squeeze to come up the drive and as well for parking in the back. Not much room to back up.

Getaway weekend

When I was trying to make the reservations I was told that the maid would not bother us well that was a lie she open the door on us I was in the bathroom naked and my spouse was in the bed and I said woo hoo and then she came back and knocked on the door telling us something that neither of us could understand through the door so My husband gets up and and goes to the door and she was gone after I told her to wait that we was coming to the door cause we didn’t understand what she was saying and she was gone

Claire and Bryan Northcutt are the property owners. They are entrepreneurs who are always looking for their next project. They met and married in Auburn, Al, where they lived until 2013. Fort Payne is now their home!

Bryan has a master’s degree in education and spent 10 years of his career teaching high school and junior college students. He played football in high school & college. He loves public speaking, golf, watching documentaries, leading & challenging men, playing guitar & Dr. Pepper. He's "the world's best dad" our 5 kids say!

Claire has a bachelor’s degree in Building Science & has spent the better part of the last 12 years growing their family of 7. She moved to NYC at age 18 to study architecture. She loves traveling & going on adventures with the kids! She's an organizer, a huge fan of Dr. Pimple Popper, thrift stores, singing/songwriting, coffee, big salads & creatively making money.

Why they chose this property

In remodeling this cottage, we’ve gone to great lengths to preserve the character & charm from the period it was built in. The original early 1900 oak floors are throughout & many of the original wood walls have been restored.

You can book the entire cottage to accommodate 11 people. Or, check out the Grand House next door that accommodates 18!

We provide a Roku Smart Tv, & WiFi but do not offer cable.

The coffee pot is standard.
