Our stay at the Sanctuary was amazing. This is a rustic cabin with modern conveniences. Our family really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the games and the adults loved having three bedrooms, two full baths, a great kitchen and a washer/dryer. Tim was great to work with and the check in process was very easy.
Property was easy to find and checkin process went smoothly. Cabin was very clean and as described. Homeowner was very responsive and helpful. Only suggestion to owner would be to more clearly label hiking trail so others don’t wander on neighbor’s property.
Our stay at the cabin was better than expected, the place is awesome perfect of you are looking to take a break for m everything and clear your mind, this is the place I was looking for, communication with Tim was 10/10 super attentive he did more than enough so that our stay was pleasant, we are definitely coming back that's for sure.
My husband and I stayed three nights and I wish we could have stayed longer! We hiked and fly fished nearby. Lovely cabin. Quiet front porch from which to drink morning coffee. We had several rounds of Bananagrams at the table behind the house. Well-stocked kitchen. Just a perfect set-up! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Go and enjoy the quiet beauty!
We had a great time staying at your cabin. The s’mores on Saturday night were excellent. Those stairs are kind of steep but we managed. The photo album showing the construction got our attention. My family built a log home from a kit but this one is amazing. Thank you for having it available for us.
My favorite parts of this rental:
* Unique log cabin in secluded, private and peaceful setting.
* Loved the outside eating area. We grilled and ate all 3 of our dinners outside in the soft glow of the streamed lights and the peaceful sound of the stream.
* The trout stream. Loved listening to it as we sat on the deck or the picnic area. My boys (13 & 11) spent hours playing in the stream and fishing. They caught a number of trout, none quite big enough to keep, but they had a lot of fun with catch and release.
* Tim was great to work with and incredibly hospitable. He called ahead of time and made it feel like you were staying at an old family friend's home. Sent us some ideas on hikes and gave us some tips on how to enjoy the area.
* The only potential small downside to the rental for some people might be that is it is about a 20-30 minute drive to get to the activities and amenities in the Marshall/Hot Springs area. However, that is also what makes the rental so peaceful, private and secluded. So its a trade-off.
* The Hot Springs area is highly underrated and in my view a hidden gem. Even over Labor Day weekend it was not that crowded. Tons of activities to do... rafting, hiking, fishing, biking, etc... But does not have the "touristy" feel of many other mountain destination areas.
* If you are looking for a real mountain getaway with a unique, comfortable home and the sound of nothing but a peaceful trout stream, this is the place for you.
I stayed in the cabin for a weekend with some mom friends! We all needed a break from “real life” and the cabin was a great place to slow down and get some rest. There is no TV, so we spent our evenings cooking, playing games, and talking. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hosts were very good about checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. As per previous reviews, the steps are really steep to the upstairs. It wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for someone who isn’t steady on their feet. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I would stay again.
We were extremely pleased with the arrangement at the sanctuary plenty of room great facilities River fire pit it was great beautiful wilderness all around super peaceful fantastic stay I'm going to probably try to stay there the next time I'm in the area that's for sure.
Beautifully crafted cabin! We couldn't stop looking at the walls! Well appointed with all the essentials. Cozy and comfortable. Creek play and exploration, fires, fireflies, hiking , peaceful, serene, and family fun! So many things that are good!
Stairs in the cabin are steep like mentioned, but manageable.
Tim is amazing in so many ways! Thank you for being there with quick responses and for your generosity in our unexpected circumstances! Blessings to you and your family.
My boys already want to go back and we just got home!!!
Pretty drive, clean and well equipped. They’ve thought of everything 🙂. Only thing that would have made it better is if some of the lower level windows opened so you could hear the creek/ rain/ frogs. Kitchen ones do but didn’t have screens. Could easily sleep 8 and we liked the claw foot tub!
The property was amazing. The owner assisted me with every question I asked of him and I want to thank him, you are awesome. The only thing was that hill in da driveway. When you go up it, do not STOP or you will not make it! I took us about 10 mins to get up that hill.
There is only one way there - 9 miles of Dragon! If you like curvy roads and scenery every time you come and go, this is the place for you. I wish I had my motorcycle.
The cabin is basic, yet modern and comfortable. The WiFi is 1.3 Mbps - barely alive; there is no TV! God, we had to play puzzles and dominoes for 3 days and have real family fun time! :)
Very nicely stacked cabin, with all your kitchen and dining needs, as well as toiletries.
We would certainly go back.
Excellent spot to disconnect from technology and reconnect with family
We loved our time at the cabin. If you are traveling in a group with multiple cars - recommend meeting up at Ingles before going the 6 miles to the house. Limited cell phone access for Verizon customers; spotty for AT&T. Once at the cabin the wifi works great. Happy to have game night and no TV. The cabin was what we were hoping for - authentic. Loved seeing the deer and going for hikes. Appreciated the home having items stocked such as the sheets, towels, and kitchen items. We only had to go shopping for what we wanted to cook. Look forward to going again next year.
Very well appointed, impeccably clean, cared for property. We loved the location ! Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Would return for sure. Bring your own corkscrew. Great interaction w owner.
