TOPSAIL ISLAND GENERAL INFO-
WiFi: WiFi signal strength is NOT guaranteed at your rental for remote work or remote learning. We are located on a barrier island and do not have cellular towers on the island. This, coupled with the increase of guests in our area, creates an inconsistent cellular signal that is outside of our control and therefore, compensation is NOT given.

Beach Nourishment: Beach nourishment projects help preserve and protect Topsail Island’s shoreline. Most projects are scheduled annually between November and April and may involve large pipes on the beach, trucks moving sand, and other equipment to rebuild and maintain our dunes. Timelines and locations can shift without notice, and we are not always informed in advance. While we understand this may impact your beach experience, refunds or compensation will not be provided for disruptions related to beach nourishment. For the latest updates, we recommend checking the town websites for Topsail Beach, Surf City, or North Topsail Beach. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about potential beach impacts during your stay.

Water Pressure Notice: Please be aware that during popular rental dates, especially in the mornings and evenings, there may be temporary reductions in water pressure. This is a common occurrence across the island as many visitors are getting ready for the day or returning from the beach. We recommend planning showers and other water-related activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Public Parking: The Town of Surf City enforces “Pay to Park” from March 1-Oct 31 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm in the Surf City Public Beach Access Parking Lots and other marked Public Parking Lots. The Town of North Topsail Beach will enforce “Pay to Park” from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM year-round. Onslow County operates three public parking areas/beach accesses within the Town of North Topsail Beach. To the best of our knowledge the county intends to continue operating these lots free of charge.

Leave No Trace: Topsail Island enforces a "Leave No Trace" policy in order to protect our shoreline, meaning you must remove all items, including tents and chairs, from the beach each day. Any items left behind are subject to theft, removal by the town, or possibility of being washed away by the ocean.

Turtle Nesting Season: From May to October, Topsail Island is a nesting ground for sea turtles. Be mindful of marked nests, limit oceanside deck lights, and follow local guidelines to protect them.

Clean and great location

The house was great. It was clean and private. There is one bedroom and full bathroom on the first floor which was great for my grandmother to stay in while everyone else stayed upstairs. There are great restaurants nearby as well as an urgent care that was really helpful and got us in and out in no time (baby got a bad rash, it happens). Fishing was fun and we even caught some crabs in the surf! I wish that the location had linens and basic cleaning things provided. We needed to bring an extra suitcase with bed sheets, towels, toilet paper, wash cloths, dish rags, trash bags, hand soaps, dish detergent, etc. Not something fun to think about when going on vacation, but overall we had a great time.

Misleading

Picture were misleading. Ripped screens, trash at door when we arrived, nails sticking out of deck boards. Broken deck boards, beds not sturdy my son fell through one. Fridge didn’t get cold. Rental agency sucked. Had a glitch told me I had to move my week to something else. I did then they told me because I was moving it I had to pay more. I should have to pay more to move my week when it was their fault

Plusses and minuses

Be sure you realize this is a duplex. I completely missed that and was expecting a full cottage. My mistake. Overall, our stay was fine but there were downsides. First, the upstairs bedroom blind was non-functional and stuck in the up/open position. We called the number we were given for such things but my effort at reaching the realtor was not successful so we just lived with it. The place was as clean as an older cottage can get but it needed some maintenance. Baseboards could use some paint and the downstairs toilet paper holder was so loose you had to be delicate with it or the tp was on the floor. The ceiling fans would wobble so bad on a low setting that we were pretty sure high was probably not safe. The deck nail heads needing pounding in as they had popped up and could have caused some damage but, in our case, did not. On the brighter side, the refrigerator and ice maker worked well. The coffee pot was new and the big screen TV was a real plus. The furniture was sturdy and reasonably comfortable. The beds were not luxurious but I slept just fine. The decor was quite nice. Dishes and utensils were also fine. Being right on the water was a plus but the deck was shared with a wall allowing for some privacy but not much. Thankfully our neighbors were great people. Never heard a peep at night from them. Would we stay here again. No.

FAR from Heaven

This property is one of the worst homes I have ever stayed in. Aside from being totally dated and overused, it was FILTHY... the kind of grime that comes from years without a deep cleaning. There were films of filth everywhere: on cabinets, doors, door handles, floors, corners, etc. Everything you touched was greasy. The bedding was all low-end cheap and stained (The mattress pads were paper thin and look like they had come from yard sales attended 10 years ago.) The mattress in our room actually was stained with what looked like blood or urine. GROSS! The pillows were the worst. They all were all flat, stained and not usable. The carpet on the stairs and upstairs was covered with stains, smelled awful, and was actually oily on your feet. All bathrooms were run down, the toilets ran, there were rust stains everywhere, and the wallpaper was falling off the walls. Most closets were stuffed full of owner's or past renters abandoned junk, so you couldn't even use them. We tried to vacuum but that too was broken. We pulled out the filters for the AC and found they were completely clogged ions of dirt. It is hard to believe they have been changed in years. We arrived on late on a Friday night (a weekend stay) to broken a broken air conditioner, a garbage disposal that did not work, a leaky faucets, a washing machine that was covered in rust, mismatched, broken, plastic outdoor chairs (not enough for capacity), and no basics in the house. I dont think maintenance checks have been done in years. Everything, including the deck, was old and ratty. The kitchen is also poorly equipped. All appliances were old and dying. The stove plates were caked with grease. The cabinets were sticky to the touch. The utensils were (we couldn't open a can of tuna we bought cause the can openers were both broken). I am honestly baffled by the one and only review this place got that said it was clean. I wonder if this house was kicked out of another program and just taken on by this one. The management company answered the phone right away and did try to remedy the issues. An impossible feat. This place has been neglected for years on end. I would be surprised if I am the first to have complained. We checked out early because it was just that bad. Access Realty gave us a credit back for part of our intended stay. If I were them, I would dump this property if the owner doesn't agree to some MAJOR updating and cleaning. To whoever owns this house... what a rip off
