The setting of Climber’s Lodge is simply beautiful. From the comfortable common room, bedrooms, bathrooms, and well stocked kitchen to the outdoor porches and fire pit, we enjoyed nearly all of the features of this beautiful home. Ed and Theresa were welcoming and very helpful.
Excellent experience! The Climbers Lodge was very clean, well stocked with kitchen tools and other supplies. 5 siblings and significant others stayed over a long weekend and it could nit have been better. The fireplace was our focal point for sure. We sat in front of the fireplace and had great talks and reminisced about our youth. The trail to the beaver pond was just perfect. The weather even cooperated for the most part. Each family member voted to stay here again.
Ed and his wife are the best caretakers and were very responsive to questions.
The great place to explore area in the fall.
We had an amazing time at this beautiful property. The host was friendly and attentive without being even slightly imposing. The location is beautiful, the house is well maintained and well organized. Will definitely be staying again in the future!
We stayed here with our family for the Ironman event in Lake Placid. This is about 14 miles from there, but doable. The home provided the basics for cooking for a family, as well as laundry facilities, which was crucial with 3 children! Bedroom and bathroom layout was perfect for us! Would recommend this to anyone needing to stay with family near Lake Placid!
The lodge is wonderful, very well equipped and plenty of charming, architectural features. Plenty of sunlight and comfortable beds/baths, and wonderful dining table for a large group. Deck with table chairs another quiet place to relax in the back. Hosts very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect, close to Lake Placid and some excellent hikes.

About the host
Hosted by Ed Palen
We are a family of 4 (son and daughter) with both children now in college. We love the outdoors and the Adirondacks in particular. We've lived here for over 30 years and still marvel at the beauty of this area. We have 2 friendly black labs and continue to hike, climb, ski and paddle whenever possible!
Why they chose this property
Our property is truly surrounded by woods and fields, mountains and streams. We are at the end of the road with a hiking/skiing trail leaving our property that continues into the wilderness, through a mountain pass for many miles. Guests can hike, ski or climb without ever getting into their car!
What makes this property unique
Our place isn't for everyone - just those that love the outdoors and need to get away for a while. Of course the village of Keene is only a 5 minute drive and Lake Placid is only 20 minutes away for dinners and perhaps a movie...
