About this property

Waterfront Small Cabin with private dock & sandy beach

Minnesota Classic! This 1940's rustic cabin has been renovated with modern conveniences, while still trying to maintain it's original charm throughout the home . This amazing location has a flat lot all the way down to the clean, sandy beach. You get the true cabin feel as you enter the main door into the family/dining room for an open, yet cozy feel. Enjoy meals or a family game night at the dining room table or around the custom built island. The quaint kitchen packs all of the amenities you could need, including large stock pots, cast-iron pans and fast-brew coffee pot to get you out the door quickly for those early morning fishing adventures. The full bathroom around the corner includes a shower with additional storage. The master bedroom looks out onto the beautiful views of Lower Hay Lake. It has two twin beds in it that are pushed together to make a king-size bed. These beds can always be separated to accommodate single beds if needed. The second bedroom also has two twin beds in it that are separated but can always be pushed together for a king-size bed effect. Both bedrooms feature large custom built wall-shelves with hooks for all your clothes.
As you head out to the lake, you pass through the porch full of windows that view the beautiful lake. This (we hear) is a favorite place to hang out for many guests. As you can sit and watch the activities in the lawn, boats going by, loons swimming past or perhaps even a gentle rainfall.
Once you are outside, you are just steps away from the long dock that is perfect for fishing, swimming and relaxing. There’s also posts for you to tie up your boat here while still leaving room for swimming. Just off the shore, is your private fire pit and Adirondack chairs for roasting s'mores and enjoying the lake views of the beautiful Minnesota summer evenings.
If you desire to actually leave our cabin and venture out on the water, you will find that you have access to the entire Whitefish Chain of Lakes (that's 14 lakes you can access by boat!). Giving you multiple opportunities for excellent fishing, skiing, island camping, exploring, restaurants....and more relaxing!
NOTE: Our property is not spacious so please understand that we limit it to four guests. It also doesn't have a washer & dryer or a dishwasher (we consider it rustic in that sense) and we like it like this. So because of this, it seems to be well suited for a smaller family, little fishing group or a couple's getaway.
Please feel free to inquire if you have any questions, as we're happy to help in any way.

Wonderful getaway

This was our second time staying at this property. The setting is lovely; the front room offers a spectacular view of the lake. The cabin is outfitted with everything you would need. And the sight and sounds of the many loons on the lake are magical. Highly recommend for a small group.

Cute and comfortable cabin!

Very cute and comfortable cabin! The lake was amazing. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that parts of the cabin were not cleaned well. I use to clean houses so I notice the little things that some would not. There was pet hair on furniture and throughout, corners & edges did not appear to be well vacuumed. Parts of the kitchen were a little greasy but dishes, pot/pans and utensils were fine. Was not awful and certainly would not be a deal breaker for us. Bedrooms and bathroom have been updated and were clean. Absolutely loved the porch on the lake side. Spent a lot of time there. Overall it is a wonderful little cabin and would definitely recommend.

Quiet getaway

What a perfect little cabin. It is exactly as pictured. The waterfront was perfect. We spent most of our time on the lake! Would definitely rent from again!

Classic cabin experience

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this classic 1940s cabin. The size, location and amenities were perfect. We spent many hours on the front porch watching and listening to the loons. Highly recommend.

Great Little Cabin

We really enjoyed our stay. It is a small rustic place just as stated. The neighbor is a bit close so it not secluded but nice people. Nice lot great dock.

Best Spot on the Whitefish Chain for Small Group

Loved the property and outdoor living space. Perfect part of the lake for water sports and peace and tranquility. Bonus that the dock was lit up at night and kept the bugs away with tiki torches. Everything described in the listing was accurate and was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable our stay away from home was! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a summer retreat!

Perfect summer destination!

Very cute cabin with a well stocked kitchen! We loved the neighborhood and staying on Lower Hay lake was a real treat. Nice dock and fire pit. They even had tiki torches, which was a really nice touch. It wasn't that nice out when we went, but I still had a great time sitting in the sunroom (? Not sure what you would actually call that room) enjoying the breeze and the view. They really paid attention to the details with this cabin. We would definitely stay here again!🤗

Girls vacation

1. Property not very clean. Cupboards and counters old and stained. Flooring very old and appears unclean 2. Furniture in living room and porch, worn. 3. Pictures are misleading. Space is much smaller than it appears 4. TV has no cable/ wifi. No cords for streaming. This was mentioned in the description but not in a clear way. 5. The property is not at all private, very visable to neighbors. 6. No life jackets available for use 7. Lack of extra bedding On the positive.. Two loons visited us every night. Nice fire pit, beautiful lake. We enjoyed the kayaks

Lovely place!

We stayed over Memorial weekend and couldnt have been more pleased. Great location! Sweet little cabin! Had all the kitchen accessories! Nice spot by the lake for fires! Had issues w the access door which was reported to the owner. Be aware its a super small shower. Didnt bother us as we are super small people. :-) Will look at this one for future rentals. Be sure to bring your own bath towels, trash bags and paper towels and enjoy the loveliness of the lake, including 2 friendly loons!

Why they chose this property

This is our personal family cabin that we love! It is small, has no washer & dryer or dishwasher but that's the way we want it. We come up here to escape and realize how beautiful the simple things are. It let's us slow down and enjoy our time together as a family. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.
