About this property

Mount Tom House - a whimsically charming getaway in 200 acres of Oregon forest

Welcome to the Mount Tom House: a uniquely charming getaway experience decidedly standing apart from your common vacation rental. The story of Mount Tom House begins with a group of friends in their 20s helping one another raise kids and build homes. 50 years later, community and camaraderie gets at the heart of what we hope to provide!

Come for the 200 acres + trails to explore, the 2-story library, the workout room + seasonal pool, and launch pad from which to explore the Willamette Valley. We operate as a bed and breakfast for part of the year (think a staffed hotel experience) and a standard home rental for the other part. Read on to learn more!

THE SPACE
Two ways to stay at Mount Tom House:
Option 1: standard VRBO home rental
Option 2: bed and breakfast experience - we opened Mount Tom House as a bed and breakfast and operate most of the year as such! If you are seeking personally curated experience, or interested in hosting an event, we are delighted to provide a bed and breakfast experience. See below in the description for more information.

THINGS TO DO AT MOUNT TOM HOUSE
*spend time by the fire in our 2-story library
*hike our 120-acre nature conservancy
*feed the koi fish in our spring-fed ponds
*stargaze on the patio during clear summer nights
*get in a few laps in our seasonal indoor lap pool (open about mid-June through mid- September) or stick to your routine in our small workout room (treadmill, free weights, kettle bells). Please inquire about specific pool opening and closing dates

BED + BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE
Your stay includes breakfast each morning, a friendly staff, and all the amenities listed EXCEPT access to the kitchen. This experience offers the amenities that you might find at a restaurant or boutique hotel in a personable and cozy setting. Uncertain that this experience is for you? Find our reviews online and read what previous guests have said! We will operate as the Mount Tom House bed & breakfast for any bookings that includes an event or invited day-of guests regardless of time of year or size of group.

As a bed and breakfast, the kitchen is a registered food establishment and cannot be used by guests (just like a restaurant!). You do have your own private refrigerator & freezer, access to the outdoor grill, and ample options for additional meals including in-house options, collaborations with private chefs, local catering options, Whole Foods same-day delivery, a list of our favorite restaurants & take-out spots. Please send us a message with any questions!

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
*6 bedrooms total (4 rooms with king beds, 1 room with queen bed, 1 bunk room)
*option for 2-4 additional people to sleep on our 10ft couches or air mattresses
*12 guests are included in the standard rate. We can accommodate a maximum of 16 guests and any guest after the standard 12 is an additional $50/person/night. We will provide additional towels and linens. Guests are able to sleep on the two 10ft couches in the green living room. We have 1 air mattress we can provide upon request.

2026 GRADUATION WEEKEND & NCAAS
*We ask for a 5-night minimum during the period of June 8 - June 18th, 2026. On our calendar, the minimum night set is 2 nights to pop up in search results, but we will require a 5-night minimum. Please reach out if you have any questions!

CHECK IN:
You may inquire about an early check in and we will do our best to accommodate. Expect an additional fee for early check ins.

CHECK OUT:
You may inquire about a late check out no later than 24 hours before your departure day and we will do our best to accommodate. Expect an additional fee for late check outs.

Expect Craig, Juli, or someone from our MTH team to arrive shortly after standard check out time (12pm) or your approved late check out time. There will be a $100 fee for every 15 minutes a guest is still on Mount Tom House property after the arranged check out time.

LAUNDRY ACCESS:
Please let us know no later than 3 days in advance of your stay if you would like laundry access. If not requested, it will be locked.

BABY / CHILDREN'S ITEMS:
If you would like specific items, please inquire ahead of your stay. We most likely have them and they are most likely packed away unless requested.

POOL & HOT TUB USE:
Guests are required to sign a liability contract/waiver prior to check in in order to access the pool and hot tub. This will be emailed to you ahead of your stay.

EVENTS:
If you are hosting events at Mount Tom House (as part of the bed and breakfast experience), you will be required to sign additional contracts and pay any additional event fees.

PARKING:
There is a cement parking pad by our 3-car garage with 3 designated parking spots.
There is also a gravel parking lot with ample parking.

ACCESSIBILITY:
In short, we are not an accessibility-friendly home. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor and accessible by stairs only. If you have specific questions, please ask.

GUEST ACCESS:
We operate Mount Tom House as a bed and breakfast most of the year. You will notice that there will be doors & cabinets that are locked. They are intended to be! You will also notice doors with "staff only" signs. Please use common sense and do not try to access locked doors/cabinets or areas that clearly indicate "staff only."

WOOD FIRED PIZZA OVEN:
This is NOT accessible to guests' use.

MORE ABOUT EVENTS:
We love hosting intimate celebrations, weddings, and other events! Events are NOT permitted unless pre-approved. Events hosted at Mount Tom House will include Mount Tom House staffing and the bed and breakfast experience regardless of time of year: if you would like to host an event, it will be a staffed bed & breakfast experience. If you are interested in learning more about event pricing and the services we offer, please send us a message with dates, # of guests, and your vision for the event. Hosting events at Mount Tom House will include additional fees. If you're seeking to ball on a budget, we totally respect that, however we are probably not the place for you.

CERTIFICATION:
We are a licensed and certified bed and breakfast by the state and county. What does that mean? The property has been approved to operate as a business and undergoes routine inspections: our T's are crossed and our I's are dotted. We aim to provide the hospitality you expect from a VRBO while also providing the professionalism expected of a business.

Wonderful family vacation home

Mt Tom house is a big, beautiful home, suitable for either larger family gatherings, or a couple's getaway. There are two primary bedrooms (en suite bathroom) and 4 bedrooms that share two full baths (there are two wings, each with a primary bedroom and two more bedrooms and the shared bathroom). All of the bedrooms had comfortable beds, and are nicely decorated. The house has a number of different, separate rooms for spreading out. One family room with the TV, a library, and a main living room/dinning room area. Kitchen is great for cooking, huge amount of counter space for prep, a great oven and stove. This kitchen would be great for groups that like to cook (we made prime rib and all the rest for NYE). The owners are very responsive and care about your stay, but otherwise give you privacy (they live on the property). The property is gorgeous, private, and secure (we let kids play as they like). Weather was not good enough to do hiking when we were there, but when drier, hiking would be great! We paid to heat the pool up (we stayed over New Years), and had a great time. The pool is huge, not deep (so safe for kids) and has a hot tub. Being covered allowed us to play in the pool even when it was raining. Highly recommend for a disconnect-vacation in nature.

Craig is the ideator and first had the seed to start on this adventure! For the past decade, he has run been a professional marathoner while also the University of Oregon Warsaw Sports Marketing MBA program director. Recently, he's also added Mount Tom House general contractor to his resume and has been the lead on almost all projects and renovations!

Juli has a background in language teaching and has had an itch to open a bed & breakfast after working at a bed & breakfast in Southern France through WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms). She ran competitively in college and continues to jolly jog now.

We saw Mount Tom House as a unique and memorable space for families and friends to gather, businesses to host events and corporate retreats, couples to get married and celebrate life events, and eventually the perfect spot to host all-inclusive adult running retreats in Tracktown, USA.

Why they chose this property

Since the beginning, the Mount Tom House was built on the tenants of community and camaraderie. A group of friends in their 20s set up shop here on Mount Tom and helped one another raise kids and build homes.

Community and camaraderie gets at the heart of what we believe in and hope to provide! We've spent the last two years updating this 7,000sqft family home for travelers to enjoy.
