Remote off-grid cabin. Comfortable modern interior on 60 acres.
Very tranquil & noticeably quiet. The stars are brighter at night! You won't believe how many stars are in the sky! You'll enjoy peaceful and slow days. Take a long walk on the 60 acres of meadows, pine trees, aspen trees. Drive to the river to spend time fishing a gold medal trout stream or river rafting. Hike or ride your mountain bikes or ATVs on nearby public property. Many fun activities within an hour's drive. In the cabin you'll enjoy a modern kitchen with all the items you need to prepare a meal, or BBQ on the deck. No microwave can be used due to the "off-grid", solar nature of the property. Enjoy the view of our valley from the deck as you sit and breath in nature and enjoy a glass of wine! Your cell phone won't interrupt because there is no cell service, but there is a land-line phone and internet. Tuck into the cozy cabin at night and watch a movie on Dish TV, with a cup of hot coco or tea!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cabin. I highly recommend this home if you are seeking a beautiful, serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of life. The cabin is well stocked and the owners are very helpful and courteous.
My wife and I are both educators, looking for a quiet getaway before the new school year begins in August 2024. Lee and Mari's cabin was the perfect getaway spot for us and our 2-year-old pup.
The hosts' instructions and communication through VRBO were clear and helpful, and they provided everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Night skies (when sky is clear of clouds) are very dark; if you're interested in stargazing, take in a good view of the Milky Way from the cabin's wrap-around balcony deck!
A well maintained cabin with beautiful views if you’re looking to getaway from city life. Lee was a great host, gave good suggestions regarding things to do, and the directions he provided were very helpful. Only suggestions are: fly into Colorado Springs if possible (closer), stop at Safeway instead of general store for groceries - further but cheaper/better selection just buy ice to keep groceries cold for the remainder of the drive, we enjoyed coyotes den for coffee and great food, visit royal gorge bridge and book any excursions such as fishing and white water rafting few days in advance. Lastly, explore the property, we enjoyed hiking the mountain in the backyard.
Beautiful, remote cabin; very well equipped kitchen(thank you!!); friendly, very helpful hosts. Wildflower meadow, coffee on the deck. Would definitely book this again.
We had a beautiful stay — scenery and accommodations! The cabin is comfortable, well stocked, and great for all ages. Our dog loved roaming free on the property. Lee was a wonderful host!
This property was everything advertised and more. Great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle. Very clean, cozy, and if you forget anything you may need I'm sure its in one of the cupboards. Completely beautiful inside and out.
Gorgeous, peaceful, comfortable, nicely appointed, great owners. This property requires more communication with the owners than is typical because it's partially on solar power and is a pretty decent drive up the mountain, but the Arnetts are EXTREMELY responsive and helpful. We plan to visit, again!
Excellent owner/host. Accurate listing. Thoroughly quiet. Heard and viewed a wide variety of songbirds. Memorable stay to celebrate a milestone birthday.
The cabin is clean, comfortable and well equipped for adults and small children. We loved playing horseshoes, walking the property and watching all the stars come out at night. Wonderful deck to drink coffee and tea on! The property owners are very kind and are quick to respond to questions and concerns.
I really can't think of one thing that wasn't absolutely perfect with the cabin or throughout the entire process of making the reservation and interacting with the owners. Not one! This is by far the best vacation rental owners I have ever interacted with.
The cabin was spotless and stoked extremely well, with such a great attention to detail. Two water bottles next to each bed. Flashlights in each room. Quality binoculars in living room, to watch wildlife on a huge meadow out the front windows. Bear spray, just in case :-). High quality linens! Fully equipped kitchen, with anything you can think of. Even - I never thought I would see this - four frozen beer glasses in the freezer, awaiting a beer drinker like me! Incredible. These small (and large) details blew me away. This speaks volumes about how incredibly hospitable the owners are - not simply maintaining the property to a high standard, but putting their hearts and souls into it.
Solar power worked flawlessly. We did everything we wanted to do and weren't limited in anything whatsoever. The area and views around the cabin are gorgeous. It is quiet!! If you look for some isolation and escape from the hectic city life, this is the place. And we saw the stars! Milky Way was right there in the sky. The communication with owners was exceptional. Most of the time it took minutes to get an answer to questions. Detailed answers, if you needed this detail.
I could go on and on, but we are certainly planning t
The rental was excellent. The owners thought of and included many “extras” that made the stay very comfortable. Staying in an off-grid, solar-powered home offered the unique opportunity to obtain valuable information about this alternate living style. As we traveled with our dog, the fenced porch that covered two sides of the house was a real plus!
What a great break from the busyness of city life!! Everything was perfect. The most well equipped VRBO I've ever seen, including mine! The cabin is better than in pictures. Mari and Lee are fabulous hosts. The location is sooooo quiet. We saw stars!! Would definitely go back.
First off, the property is absolutely breathtaking and VERY off the grid just like we wanted. Second, Mr. and Mrs. Arnett were extremely helpful and kind as we arrived and during our stay. Me and my fiancé are very unfamiliar with solar energy, and Mr. Arnett walked us through everything we needed to know and also responded immediately to any questions we had during our stay. I highly recommend this beautiful cabin!!
This property is everything described and more. Great communication from the owners started our trip off on the right note. The owners do stay at the home sometimes and the kitchen and home is fully equipped (except a microwave) for normal living. We hiked around the property a few times, could really tell we were at 9000ft on some of the steeper parts. Weather wise, one night (third week of June) the temperature dropped to 35 degrees. Take warm clothes if you want to sit out and see the stars, the temperature at the cabin is 10-15 degrees cooler than Cotopaxi. We had a great internet connection and no issues with the electric even though the home is on solar. The deck is fenced off so we didn't have to worry about the dog running away and the owner supplied a kennel in case we wanted to go off on our own travels. The cabin is about an hour from Salida and same to Cañon City. The general store in Cotopaxi is a 30 minute drive down the mountain and it has burgers and sandwiches and other regular items at reasonable prices. There is a liquor store next door to it for beer and wine. All in all, I would recommend this cabin to anybody and if we are ever in that part of Colorado again wouldn't hesitate to stay there.
This property checked off all the boxes for us! Private & secluded, quiet, awesome star watching and comfortable quarters for the family. Lee and Mari were excellent hosts and even gave us some referrals for white water rafting and horseback riding that were awesome. Just what we needed...<3
The property was amazing. We were looking for a long weekend to unwind from city life and this property was just what the Dr ordered.
There was no issue with being on solar power the house had all the comforts of home.
The location is amazing!!!
We loved sitting on the porch and watching the stars at night.
It was the perfect getaway. Thank you!
