About this property

Large Villa with pool overlooking the vineyards between Rome/Florence

There are places immersed in nature and in silence which help us reconcile with the world and with oneself. One of these places is the 'Casalino Vigneria', the guesthouse at the Vitalonga estate. The ancient farmhouse is situated on the most elevated hill of the estate and surrounded by oaks and holm oaks overlooking the vineyards. The ancient hamlet has recently been restored to welcome an intimate number of guests.
Accommodation at la Vigneria consists of five beautifully appointed rooms tastefully decorated with vintage Italian furniture and a cozy outhouse for two people. The restored farmhouse also comprises of a spacious living room with fire place, a well equipped kitchen and an inviting dining room. Outside, from the edge of the swimming pool, the view encompasses the Castle of Sala, the town of Orvieto towering over the vast valley, and stretches as far as the Cimino, Cetona and Amiata mountains, in a breathtaking succession of stunning landscapes.

La Vigneria is the ideal location for a family vacation or for spending time with friends. Our charming guesthouse is also perfect for a romantic gateway or a relaxing weekend in the beautiful Umbrian countryside. The location of the Vitalonga estate, just half way between Rome and Florence, makes it an excellent base to explore a territory rich in artistic and natural resources.

A presto!!! Claudia

Fantastic!
it was truly a pleasure to spend a week in this beautiful house near Orvieto and many other beautiful cities of art . We have experienced a wonderful evening at the fireplace chatting and drinking a glass of red wine . Magical place with gorgeous views and breathtaking sunsets . Thanks to Francesco and Daniela we discovered the true spirit of this land and the real lifestyle of Umbria. We will return in summer to enjoy the pleasure of swimming amongst vineyards overlooking the silhouettes of Orvieto . We highly recommend this location for the high standard of the villa and the warmth of the owners .

Wonderful holiday
Oh my goodness, I just found this ‘not to be forgotten’ message still in the Draft box. I guess better late than never. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Casalino Vigneria last July. The lodging was lovely and comfortable. The fantastic welcome wine you left in the house take Tenuta Vitalonga from grade A to a perfect A++. I can still close my eyes and relish the wonderful house, the fantastic view and the unforgettable holyday in Umbria. Francesco and Daniela thanks for all your hospitality.

A BIG THANK YOU
First of all Merci Beaucoup à Francesco et à "l'équipe"! We are incredibly lucky to have returned to your wonderful VITALONGA warm hospitality in an amazing setting and exceptional gourmet d’Italie, complemented by Vitalonga special vini and food. The location of your elegant and charming country residence on the top of a panoramic hill surrounded by the vineyards of the estate is FANTASTIC!! Compliments for the main house and a depandance in the garden, both of them restored in keeping with the original architecture and furnished to a very high standards with antiques. The wonderful vista is over the surrounding vineyards, the impressive Sala Castle and Orvieto. Shaded by trees is the lovely swimming pool where we spent memorable hours. The panoramic path among the vineyards has lead us to your second building (less then 1 Km away) where we founded the beautiful and higly specialized cellars of the estate, that we have visited, and the lovely restaurant where we tasted the good produce of the farm, including the DOC wines. It was indeed a memorable occasion in two weeks shared by us all among loved families & friends. See you soon We’ll be back to Ficulle. Our best wishes John and Anne

“Amazing experience, one I will never forget”
My partner and I had the opportunity to stay at Vitalonga for one week in March 2014 and it was the highlight of the trip to Italy. The winery is only an hour and a half by car or train (take the train to Fabro station and you are then 10 minutes from the winery). When we drove up to the house we were greeted with a warm fire and one of their bottles of wine. As we leisurely walked around the estate sipping our wine, we couldn't believe the view, though the winery is in Umbria, you can see the hills of Tuscany and of Lazio. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night and it was a one of a kind experience. The restaurant tries to use only local ingredients, that are the freshest possible. We had a warm radicchio salad, than blue potato gnocchi (my favorite), than fresh pork, followed by a chocolate 'salami' dessert (that my husband that never eats dessert, devoured!). During all of this we drank wine from the estate and met the Maravalle family, whose passion for food and wine comes across very easily when you talk to them. And all the staff were wonderful, taking care of us and making sure to explain all the elements of everything we ate. After a full dinner, we headed back to the house where we enjoyed our beautiful room with it's queen size bed and in-room bathroom, it was very peaceful and we were about to really relax. The next morning we ate a breakfast of a fresh berry tort and then headed to the winery for our tour. Francesco, one of the owners, gave us our tour and wine tasting. His love for his land (which has been in his family for generations) and the wine he produces is palpable, and he tries to share all the elements of the experience with you. I look forward to returning soon especially as the weather gets warmer and they begin to offer outside seating over looking the vineyard. It is a wonderful place that is close to Rome, but feels like a different world!
