About this property

"Royce's Outpost" nearby trails and AuSable River

This is a half log exterior cabin with knotty pine interior walls throughout. The cabin is surrounded by pine trees to give that nestled in the woods feeling while providing you with in town living. Just a few blocks away (walking distance in the summer) from Ma Deeters (a well known dining experience for this area). Trail heads are just a block away. Don't have the toys to play on the trails with?? That's ok, you can rent them from Luzerne Express just up the road. The AuSable River is only a 10 minute drive (you can also rent tubes and canoes from Luzerne Express). The Boardwalk is a great little location just a five minute drive from the cabin that gets overlooked because it is not advertised much but I highly recommend it.

**NO ANIMALS PERMITTED ON THIS PROPERTY. **
Unfortunately the minority have ruined it for everyone. I am no longer allowing animals at this site due to damages caused. Please do not ask, my answer will be no.

Inside the home you will find an entrance where you can set down your luggage, coats, boots, snowmobile gear, etc. There are two small steps (4” & 8”) to get into the main living area. There is a spacious kitchen that offers a dining table for four. The full bathroom complete with all linens is just off the kitchen. There are two bedrooms. One bedroom is located just off the kitchen has a queen sized bed. The second bedroom has a full size bed and is just off the living room. All bedding is provided and there are extra blankets available for those chilly winter nights. The living room has all leather furniture (loveseat - and a chair), a smart tv (you must enter your password for Netflix or Hulu) and electric fireplace for ambiance. Just past the living room is a small game room where you can play darts, chess or checkers. Going out through the game room you will find a screened in seating area perfect for eating outside without the bugs. There is a propane grill for use. It is not monitored for cleanliness or propane. There is one 9” step down into this space. The home has forced air heat and a wall air conditioning unit in the living room. Fans are also available for use. This home is not wheelchair accessible.

Out back is a spacious yard with a fire pit for your use (I do not offer firewood, you must seek that out or pay extra to have it there for your use). There is a cute little outhouse that is in working condition for those days your buddy (or spouse) is hogging the bathroom inside.

The garage is not available for guest use.

Anniversary Trip

Stayed here for a weekend getaway with my partner to celebrate out 1 year anniversary. The cabin was clean and cozy. We ended up having a rainy weekend in but did get to enjoy the walking trails & local restaurant. It was a great place to get some rest and relaxation.

Like a loved family cabin

The cabin is very cozy and in a very remote little non-town. There's enough things to do on a rainy day, the beds are comfy, the towels are soft and plentiful and everything you need is thought of.

Weekend getaway

Beautiful charming cabin so close to the ORV trails and Huron Manistee forest. The cabin had everything you need to make the trip relaxing. We really enjoyed the coffee bar and hammocks to relax in by the campfire. We went to Madeeters restaurant that is nearby and the food was excellent. We will definitely come back!

Lumberjack weekend

My 2 brothers and nephew from Ohio and myself stayed here, we had a couple lumberjack competitions and this cabin was perfect for our needs! Quiet neighborhood and the cabin is adorable. Host is absolutely the sweetest even though she had a tragedy in the family she made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely rebook for next year!

Weekend getaway

My husband and I had a great stay at this facility. It’s in a great location, close to fun restaurants/bars and walking trails. The bedrooms are small with no closets/limited hanging room. They had really nice hammocks for us to use outside for an afternoon nap!

Great get away

We had a fantastic time at this cottage. Far away from the hustle bustle but close conveniences. The ATV trails are a street over, and a nice walking trail is a few minutes away by car. The cabin has everything you need, including just about every kitchen gadget. Check in and out was very easy and communication with the owner was fast. We will definitely be back! (Thank you for sharing your cabin!!)

Hesitancy and fun

We had many hesitancies about this place, how small it is, the close neighbors, the age/wear of cottage, but holy cow did we enjoy all of it! We thought it might be hard to relax but it wasn't and the neighbors/town were great! We even got to see a parade, fireworks! Our teenagers had to get creative to be entertained (and without their phones) and that was great too. They enjoyed the walking trail, playing games, reading...getting back to nature, visiting Lewiston, playing corn hole....

Quiet

We were looking for an out of the way place for quietness. We got it. Very nice place to stay. Went to ma deeters for dinner and it was very good. We took coffee, but cabin had a Keurig and all the accessories. We went to Coopersville and walked around. Neat stuff to look at.

Luzerne vacation

Had a great first VRBO experience. This place was well kept and it was obvious great care was taken to provide a good experience. We didn't expect this much attention to detail for our possible needs. The only down was we didn't know it was so close to the neighbors and a lot of 4-wheel traffic or prep for the hunting season noise. Great job overall!

No propand in grill was told to go buy our own.

We where going to grill out but the propane grill was empty. Called and was told the store down the road sold propane. We think that was ther job not ours to pay and fill there tank. Had to go out and buy supper and take our food back home.

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I have been married since 2012. We have two rescue cats and a rescue dog. We have 17 chickens and each one has a name and their own personality. I love home remodeling (hubby not so much) and this was just the perfect opportunity to fix it up and give people the chance to enjoy where I grew up. I lived in Mio for 23 years of my life, moved away for several years and now I'm back. I just love the country life, so quiet and peaceful.

Why they chose this property

This cabin just makes me feel like I am away from it all. The busyness of life can just become more than we can bear at times and its great to just kick back and relax. The cabin is nestled in tall pines all around which makes you feel like you are tucked back into the woods but still close to neighbors and town. Giving you the feeling of comfort, serenity, and convenience.

What makes this property unique

The large foyer when you enter gives a great spot to drop the luggage and go out to explore immediately. The front screened in porch offers a little bit of the outside while being protected from weather and those pesky gnats. I love the knotty pine interior that just gives way to the cozy feel of the cabin. And lets not forget to give attention to the cute little outhouse out back. Feel free to use it - there is even a guest book in there.
