What you see is not what you get

Beautiful setting, stunning views, and awesome floor plan. But several things in the pictures we viewed before booking were missing (no porch swing, no table on deck, no chase lounge in bedroom 2). They should either replace these items or update their pictures so people don't expect them. Worst part was that it was advertised as sleeping 6 and only slept 4. We had 4 adults & 2 kids. The sofa bed was broken. We called maintenance the first night to report that it couldn't be used. They came the next day but said they couldn't fix it, and didn't offer anything (rollaway or whatever) to replace it. There were 6 of us and we paid more for a place that said it would sleep 6 than the smaller places we looked at, yet we ended up with one person sleeping in a rocker & another sleeping on the floor. There weren't even pillows or blankets for the sofa bed. We did enjoy the hot tub. A firepit would have been a nice touch. We would go back with 4 people but not with 6.

Great spot

The location is amazing!! We were close to Gatlinburg but very secluded. The outdoor spaces are awesome! We spent most of our time on the decks. Although there was not a table as pictured. Inside there is plenty of room to spread out. Overall the house needs to be touched up. It wasn’t necessarily clean. There is a lot of wear and tear that makes it seem dirtier than it may actually be. The towel holder in the 1/2 bath was broke. There was no handsoap anywhere in the house. Communication with the owner was easy and they were easy to work with! Beware of the bears!! They are not at all scared of people and came up on the porch on several occasions while we were there.

Needs some attention!!!

The property itself was nice the location was great. However the house itself needed a little attention. There was no porch swing as listed. There was also no table and chairs on the porch as listed. Some of the patio furniture were missing cushions. The walls inside the house had patches of paint as if they just touched it up. There was a lot of dust under the beds. One of the handles on the dresser drawers was hanging. The sheets on the pull out couch were really dirty and stained along with all the pillows on all the beds. One of the showers was very hard to turn on. The patio furniture had bird poop all over it. And was dirty. The hot tub cover was dirty and the porch and railings could have been power washed. Because it was green and moldy. The pictures of the house need to be updated! We did enjoy seeing the mama bear and her 5 cubs. And the location of the house.

The washing machine was broken and stove burner didn't work. This was an inconvenience when we planned to cook at our rental to save money, and do laundry to avoid packing as much. Maintenance told us they had to get parts, so this wasn't fixed for us. Also, some of the furniture in the photos wasn't there. Very disappointed overall.

Great Views

The information supplied by Bear Camp Rental was very helpful. The location of the house was easy to find. Overall the house was very quiet and great views. The house could use some TLC it's showing it's wear. Had everything for our stay. The bedding could use updating. The bathroom with the shower/tub needs the Mixer Value replaced. Very difficult to turn on and off. The other bathroom with just a shower only has Black Mold growing on the wall at the ceiling above the toilet. Putting some chairs in the bedrooms would be nice. No place to sit other than the bed. This meant to be helpful. Overall a good stay.

Great fall getaway.

In the mountains. But also close to town. I wouldn’t go if there was snow or ice. Road is narrow and steep.

Love it

We all loved the home..it did need a bit of updating here and there..and the living room did not know if it was Victorian or cabin..but we felt very at home..we did have a bear that liked the porch..so using the hot tub could be interesting..we will hopefully book the same place again..we liked how clean it was..and the office staff were very helpful and friendly..the view was great to wake up too..I was a little sad to leave..

Worst Vacation in 15 Years

We vacation in the Gatlinburg area 2-3 times a year for the last 15 years. This was a short notice vacation so our choices were limited. Hot tub was cleaned, but not turned on before we got there, so the first night it never got hot. Bedrooms were missing a lot of light bulbs. The master bedroom had no dresser. Closets in both bedrooms had broken racks for hanging clothes. No blankets on the beds, just a very thin throw. Fireplace in the living room didn't work and despite repeated calls and promises, it took almost two days of repeated calls to get someone to fix it. Railing on the steps to go upstairs was hanging from the wall and was dangerous. They did fix that when they came to fix the fireplace. The clothes washer switch was broken off. Incredibly disappointed and not up to the standards that we are used to from VRBO.

Bear Cabin

Photos are out of date, swing unfortunately no longer there but the view was nice otherwise. Hot tub was clean and ready to use. Very limited cooking utensils as well as only one trash can in the kitchen, none in the bathrooms. No screens on the windows so bugs can enter if you want fresh air. Temperature control was finicky. No recycle container for metal or plastics. The toaster toasted unevenly. There were marks and fingerprints on the walls that made the place look dirtier than it was. Bed was firm but comfortable for all of us, usually they are soft with low spots. Road up is narrow but to be expected for a place in the hills. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but for the fees expected a lot more.

Clean in a good location but outdated.

The place could use some updated furniture. The beds were very hard and made loud squeaky noise when you would move. Sink handle needs fixing in second bathroom, as well as kitchen drawer handle.
