All you need to bring is food, clothes and firewood (local guy will deliver upon request).

I provide trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc. for the start of your stay, but for longer stays you'll be responsible for these things. There are dishwasher pods & laundry pods for your use. There is shampoo/cond. & body wash available to use.

There are games for the family and books to enjoy for different interests. I LOVE hosting and want to help you have the best time! If you have any questions about kitchen items available please ask!

Ahhhh......relaxing!!!

We wanted a place to get away for some peace, quiet and relaxation to celebrate our wedding anniversary and that's EXACTLY what we got! We felt right at home at the tranquil Runaway Retreat and didn't want to leave (our dog Stella seemed to feel the same)! We will be back and will stay longer next time. :) I highly recommend this home for anyone wanting to get away in a quiet place to relax and unwind. Nothing is lacking ....for sure!!!Thanks Nicole and Travis for sharing your beautiful home and peaceful setting with us.

Thoughtfully equipped and clean

This was by far the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. Seriously, not a speck of dust! It was dog friendly but you would never know there was ever a dog there. Zero dog smell.This rental was very thoughtfully stocked with everything any vacationer could ever need. I didn't use the laundry, but they were the same washer and dryer I have at my home. There was a well stocked coffee station and quality tableware. 10/10! If I ever find myself needing to stay in the area again, we will definitely book this rental.

Lovely stay to visit family

We had a fantastic stay over the holidays. The house was very easy to find, no issues getting into the property and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We hope to return again some day.

Great memories were made

Great space with an open floor plan, which was great for hanging out and chatting inside. The covered deck was perfect for having a coffee at the start of the day and for relaxing at night. All the necessities needed for an overnight stay were provided.and appreciated! Communication with the host was easy and helpful.

If perfection exists

This was my family's 2nd Vrbo experience and by far the best! We stayed here during our visit to Point Pleasant and Mothman Museum. Vrbo properties on the W. Virginia did not offer the amenties our family sought. Runaway Retreat was a slice of peace and quiet! The deck/porch brought the outdoors to us. The spacious family room provided individual lounging space during family time. Everything we needed was there! Thanks!

Hunting & couple getaway

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. He was hunting in an area about 10 min away. It was he getaway we both needed. Very clean and it was nice that it had all the kitchen stuff that I needed to cook.

Perfect place to unwind

Lots of personal touches makes it feel like your home away from home as soon as you walk in. The home and property is perfect to relax and unwind. It's secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet but not too far away from town. Any and all questions I had were answered quickly and the host(s) thought of everything! There was no reason whatsoever to leave if you didn’t want to. The best part was sitting on the deck in the morning enjoying coffee while the cows strolled up to have breakfast. My dog also loved the cows and it was so nice to find such a lovely place to travel to with my dog and not be charged extra fees. I highly recommend this home and hope to return someday for a much longer stay as we were only able to enjoy a long weekend.

Another Great Stay

This was our third or fourth girls’ weekend at this property and it never disappoints. Everything is clean, well stocked, and convenient. We were pleasantly surprised with the new ramp going to the side door. It made loading and unloading the cars so much easier. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the deck. We did venture out to the Twisted Vine Winery this time which is just a few miles away. We had a tasting and purchased a few bottles to take back to sip on the deck. I ran into a snag when my tire caught a small rock. Stapleton Towing came out to put on a donut so that I could stop for a tire on the way home. They gave us fast and friendly service and I didn’t even have to put down my glass of wine! 😂

Family memorial service

The property was perfect for our situation. The owners thought of everything we might possibly need. We were in town for a family memorial service. It was so nice to have the home to retreat to any evening rather than a hotel room.

PERFECT

That is the only word for this property. We were looking for somewhere to take our dogs to get away from city fireworks and this place was far better than we were hoping it would be. Nothing is lacking. The host has thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Just a beautiful house on a beautiful spot. Loved seeing the cows and deer! This was the best VRBO we’ve stayed at. Thank you for sharing your property with us all and for allowing our dogs! We will definitely be back.

Escape from it all

This was what was needed for US. No one around and nothing to do, but watch the birds and other wildlife from the deck. There isn't much else to do if you need activity. Nicole's place provided all that was needed and many homey touches throughout. She responded quickly to items that needed immediate attention.

Peaceful

This was just what we needed! The house is secluded and comfortable. The deck off the back is massive and secure. We brought our dog and he loved laying on the deck with us and watching the cows stroll by! We were so thankful there was no way he could get off the deck as there’s gates on both sides. We were about 30 minutes from Point Pleasant to visit the Mothman Museum and 40 minutes from the TNT area. I fell in love with Tudors Biscuit World. I’d weigh 1000lbs if that place was in my town.

R&R Weekend

The property was exactly as listed with great amenities even for our pets. Nicole was very prompt on answering questions and very easy to work with since I had changes to the original reservation. Highly recommend this property for a quiet stay to disconnect and recharge.

GREAT STAY - lovely home.

We traveled Gallipolis to visit my family for the holidays and was looking for a child friendly home to stay in. We stumbled upon this property and absolutely loved it. It had games for the kids and more than enough room for everyone to spread out. Very comfy, hosts were very responsive and friendly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Stay

We loved our stay at The Runaway Retreat! Everything was perfectly thought-out from the space itself to the treats and amenities. The view and drive are beautiful! The space was comfortable and inviting. The perfect way to unwind after a day of Mothman hunting with the kids. Nicole was very responsive and super sweet. There is absolutely nothing negative to say. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I are both Ohio natives. We've traveled a lot which led us to rent our home. Now we live around the corner in a family farmhouse we are renovating. As a "retired" teacher, I homeschool our 2 children and manage our rentals. My husband is a lineman. We have a cattke farm and some chickens. We love meeting new people and seeing new places. We have a dream to continue to expand our R&R retreat locations!

Enjoy some R&R whether for a weekend or a while. Great for couples, families/friends, hunters, traveling workers, etc. Inside is a relaxing environment where you can just breathe & runaway for a bit.
