About this property

Fish House, stay someplace cool.

Stay someplace fun. The Fish house comfortably accommodates family and friends in a great location with unique architectural character and many amenities.....this place is a great escape. The open living/kitchen/dining space upstairs is like being in a tree house with a twist. Downstairs are two identical bedrooms with queen beds, closets, built in storage drawers, and wall mounted TV/DVD. In between the two queen bedrooms is a four twin bed bunk room for the kids or whomever…with private reading lights and a sliding barn type door. Two full baths with stone floors as well as a laundry room are also conveniently located on the lower level.

Upstairs is an open living room, dining area and full kitchen, along with another bathroom, ascend the ships ladder up from the second floor deck to the 3rd level sun deck with covered trellis. Hang out in the hammock or lay back in the lounge chairs up in the trees with a peek to the ocean. Wireless internet access is included throughout, with wired access points in strategic locations for added convenience.

The house is a short stroll…450 steps, to the best piece of beach there is. Eastern Lake flows into the gulf and makes a safe haven for floating in the shallow current or chasing fish with your net. It is also a great place to skim board, kayak(included), paddle board (included) or hit the surf. A community pool (not heated) is available for guest use in season.

If you don’t feel like cooking in the full size, fully equipped kitchen or barbequeing on the charcoal grill, there are plenty of nearby restaurants and conveniences from Grayton to Seaside to Watercolor…you will be at the center of all the best.

This is a great value. Save your money for shopping, eating out, having fun….or stay two weeks….you deserve it.

Family trip

We loved having the kayak, paddle board, & bikes to use. Having the lake to play in in addition to the beach & gulf at this location was great for our kids. The house could use minor updating, but it was exactly as pictured. We would stay here again.

2nd Timers

This is our 2nd time to stay in Fish House. It is perfect for our family of 6. We love the neighborhood, location on 30A, and our favorite is the beach at Eastern Lake. It’s a short walk or even shorter bike ride. Our family recommends Fish House!

Excellent Stay!

We had a great visit to 30A! Owner got back to us right away with any questions we had. We loved the Seagrove/Eastern Lake location. Quiet but close enough to the more populated areas. I just forgot to read the details to bring a hair dryer.

Relaxing

Great place. Would definitely book again. Walking distance to beach. LOVED the beach area. We rented a golf cart for in town trips which worked out great. Only minor issue is shower heads in both bathrooms were very weak so need updating. Everything else was fantastic

Nice property owner - no unit perfect

No rental unit is perfect - this is what you’d expect for the price. Very kind accommodative host/ owner. Beach location is nice to access and not too crowded. Unit like most rentals could use updates to furniture etc. but overall, clean and easy to use for a week. Very quit street and area with short walk to coffee, ice cream, etc. perfect for low key family experience.

Great for teens

The property was great. Comfy home and a great location. My only issue was not having a lock on any of the bedrooms, some of the bathrooms and the upstairs air was not working, which was ok because all bedrooms are downstairs. House is a very short walk to the beach and pool and the added paddle board and kayak were a huge hit for our teens. As well as the hang-out spot up top. Would definitely stay here again.

dissapointed

The downstairs smelled really musty and floors looked unvacuumed. Towels were worn and many had stains. Had rain the weekend we were there and had leaks that we had to catch with several pots. The top deck needs pressure washing and hammock looked unsafe. House advertised Bikes but only two were rideable. Railing on deck was broke which the owner let us know. Needs some Maintenance and a good Cleaning.

Beautiful architecture

A modern vacation vibe. The doors opened to lush trees, and the roof deck is worth it all. Plenty of room for kids, and nice escape for adults.

Best of both worlds

The Fish House was a unique place to stay. It was back in the woods off the beaten path, but very close to the beach. It was simple and nice, and the bikes and paddle boards were a huge bonus. The one downside is that the water in the lake is pretty high and you have to cross it to get to the beach. I guess when I read that, I thought it would be ankle deep. Great place otherwise. Thank you.

Great location and property!

We really enjoyed the location— spacious, comfortable, and a well designed layout. This street in Seagrove Beach is quiet and has very easy access to the beach. It’s also very convenient to town (Seaside) but protected from all the crowds and noise. It was perfect for our family outing. Highly recommend.

Perfect Location, Cool Home Design

I was familiar with the property (designed by the owner- architect) but never stayed in the home. Comfortable with modern mid-century touches similar to a Danish or Amsterdam home. The beds rooms are cozy and quiet located on ground floor. Bunks comfortable for older people. Location is my favorite on 30a, steps away from the Eastern Lake-Gulf outfall. Definitely will rent again.

Absolutely perfect!

Very modern, but comfortable home - just perfect for our family of 4. Close enough walk to beach access, but also easy drive/drop off. Very roomy, we were able to have family over with plenty of seating. The balcony was perfect!

Totally recommend!

This house met all of our needs. Great location with easy beach access to a great spot on the beach - Especially if you have little ones, the Eastern lake shallows are the most perfect baby pools. The house is on a private lot on a quiet road in comparison to other properties in the area. Our teens loved being close to Seaside and the food trucks plus the kayaks and Paddleboard on Eastern Lake were great to have availability any time. We loved everything about the area. The owner is very responsive, we would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay and the house had everything we needed.

We had a little trouble regulating the temperature upstairs. We had to keep the unit downstairs pretty low to keep it cool upstairs, especially if using the oven or stove. This made it very cold most of the time downstairs but that was better than it being too hot. Closing the blinds and bringing a fan upstairs was helpful. The owner has plenty of beach toys my kids enjoyed using. They also had chairs we took to the beach, which was nice! Unfortunately, after taking the two yellow chairs all the way to the beach on the first day, we found they were broken when we tried to sit in them. We set them to the side. We left a crab net and a new intertube for the next family to enjoy. It’s a bit of a hike to the beach if you have little ones and you have to cross over two lagoons so get the ocean. We bought an inflatable boat and that helped getting things to our spot each day. Overall it’s a wonderful place to stay, lots of kids and families and we had a great time!!!

Good property, responsive host

We had a delay in check-in when we showed up and the place was not cleaned from the prior stay. We had to call the host who had someone come over immediately to clean, but did a spotty rush job. After that initial issue, the rest of the stay was fairly smooth. The internet was inconsistent during the stay though- functional, but wouldn't recommend if you're trying to work and take teleconference meetings while you're there. Host was extremely responsive and apologetic- I understand these things happen. Property is unique and a convenient location. Kayak and bikes were a nice touch. Overall, I would recommend.

Exceptional space, convenient location

Fish House is in a quiet pocket of Seagrove, a five minute walk from the beach. The house has a wooded lot on one side and another wooded lot behind, creating more privacy than is typical for homes on the area. The house itself has excellent open living spaces, both inside as well as outside on three decks. Lounging on the roof-level deck was a daily treat. We used the kayak nearly every day and recommend driving to nearby Eastern Lake Park boat ramp, on the eastern shore, for an easy launch spot. The house is just a block from the 30A bike trail. The beach of course is incredible.

Fantastic Week at Fish House

Pros: - One-of-a-kind house with unique architectural features (especially the fun rooftop) - Very short walk to nice, uncrowded beach - Very short walk to great restaurants (highly recommend the Perfect Pig for brunch or dinner) - Two kayaks, paddle board and two bikes included (we drove a kayak to the beach each day and our son had a blast) - Fun bunk room for the children Cons: - The house has some contemporary features. So it may not be for everyone (low beds and stairs to rooftop may be tough for the elderly). - Downstairs carpeting could be updated, but you are getting the house for a great price. It didn't bother us. Overall, the unique architectural features, proximity to beach and restaurants, price and included amenenties make it a great place for a vacation. My nine year old's quote just after our arrival, "Dad, this is like the coolest house ever. How long are we staying?!"

Awesome Find on 30A

We really enjoyed our stay in the Fish House. The rooftop deck with hammock was a favorite for our family, and the lot was impressively private. The walk to the beach was easy, and we enjoyed being off of the busy main road through the neighborhood. We felt the value was great for the home and we will definitely look to book here again in the future.

Great place!

Check in was super easy, all instructions were sent in advance so when we arrived we knew exactly what to do (same with checking out). Our kids (18 & 15) loved having the bikes to explore on. They also liked the upper balcony and hammock to hang out on. We rented a golf cart to help get cooler, chairs, bags, etc to the beach and it was a fun means of transportation down 30A, but you certainly don’t have to have one. Beach access is close. If you take the closest route you walk across the Eastern Lake inlet which was only a couple of feet deep and clear water, sandy bottom (so keep in mind if you bring a wagon you’ll have to carry it across). The kayak and paddle board looked so fun, but we just didn’t even get a chance to use it...next time though!!

About the host

Host profile image
I live and work in Atlanta.
I am an Architect, and designed the house.
I enjoy sharing it with friends and others who appreciate similar things...
Comfort, simplicity, beauty and time to relax sometimes.

Why they chose this property

The Eastern Lake Beach is the coolest place around.
The neighborhood is a hidden gem, with easy access to all things 30a.
Off the beaten path, with a wide and breathtaking beach and lake outfall.
The house is nestled in the trees, no others like this one.

What makes this property unique

You may want to bike or run east to Deer Lake, or take advantage of the dune walks at Water sound.
Seaside is west about two miles. There are some great trails on the north side of 30A where you can see some beautiful old cypress trees. Use the kayak to do some exploring as well. Get off the beaten path, and just take it easy.
