Not what it seems - Horrible smell - No refund
I waited a full week to post this review hoping that VRBO and the host would make things right. Nothing has been done. We entered the house on 10/10 in the evening. There was an awful sewer smell when we opened the door. Checked and smell was coming from the upstairs bathroom. I turned the fan on and opened a window. The next morning I contacted the host who admitted that work was done on the house and a roof vent cover needed to be removed. She told me was trying to get someone out to remove it. No further communication from her. We returned to the house Friday evening and the smell was STILL there. We left Saturday morning, I requested a partial refund from the host since the smell existed the entire time we were there. Host then told us we were being "unfair" to make this request. She told me she was poor and was trying to make a little money renting the house. When we insisted she do the right thing she tried accusing us of smoking (we do not smoke) as an attempt to put the blame elsewhere. I contacted VRBO several times. On my second call to them, they contacted the host while I was on the phone with them to try to resolve the issue. The VRBO rep. came back on the line and told me someone from VRBO would call me back regarding this issue within 24 hours. It has now been a week and no one called me. The host finally sent me a text and agreed to refund my "cleaning" fee. VRBO emailed saying there were tech. issues with the refund. STILL NO REFUND.
