Perched above the AuSable River, this cabin affords the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The possibilities are endless: Sip coffee on the porch, curl up in front of the gas fireplace with a book, hike the winding steps down the hill and enjoy the water, or just sit and put your feet up.

The Cabin is nestked in the AuSable Acres community, in Jay, NY, which gives you access to miles of hiking and cross country skiing trails, a small lake for fishing or canoeing, a playground, two tennis courts, and a basketball court.
Take a short drive to Whiteface Mountain to experience some of New York State's best skiing and mountain views. Or grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants and shops in the nearby towns of Wilmington, AuSable Forks, and Keene.

Just a few more miles away is the historic village of Lake Placid which offers shopping and fine dining as well as numerous outdoor activities. You'll have no trouble finding plenty to fill your time!

Wonderful winter getaway

Our family of six had an amazing trip! The house was the perfect home base for exploring the high peaks region. We had four kids in the upstairs bedroom and it worked perfectly. Stove was warm and cozy. TV was great for a show for the older kids while the younger ones napped. Kitchen had everything we needed. Property was fun for snowshoeing and playing in the snow. We will be back!

Cozy cute cabin

Everything needed was provided close to whiteface and great restaurants nearby. The cabin was in a nice spot was clean and everything worked as it should. The stairway to river would have been even better in warmer weather.

Fall Beauty

We book this property for my wife's 40th birthday. She has always wanted to stay in the Adirondacks in the fall and see all the colors, and boy did we. Whiteface is a quick drive away and was so beautiful. Even had a chance to take the kids to see Santa at the North Pole, only 15 minutes away, it was magical. Also right in town is a covered bridge that is just awesome. This property was such a relaxing place can't wait to go back.

Quiet Cabin in the High Peaks

My wife and I vacationed here for a week in August 2024. The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood. It is very central to many of the Adirondack features. The cabin is well equipped with many modern conveniences including washer/ dryer, dishwasher, and wifi. There is also a great trail/ stairway to the river with seating at the base to enjoy the serenity of the river. The hosts were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. In short, we are looking forward to coming back!

Terrific Cabin

My 20 and 18 year-old kids and I stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the cabin very much. It was clean, well-appointed, and thoughtfully and cheerfully furnished without being stuffy. We made good use of the grill, which is right outside the kitchen, and enjoyed dinners and games in the dining nook, and breakfasts outside. The short walk down to the river and its sitting areas was special, as was hearing the river at night. The cabin is well-situated for trips to Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and all of the related sights and activities. We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful location

I thought it was a perfect size. The river access is a work out but so worth it. You can hear the river from the cabin that alone was relaxing. I felt safe and comfortable. The bed was great which is always a plus ! I would absolutely book again !!

Great location for a getaway

Overall positive experience from this property. Pros: Beautiful cabin in a great location on the Ausable River. Close enough to all of the things you would need or want from your stay while also giving you the privacy you're looking for. Cons: I believe the cleaner did not do a thorough cleaning of the master bedroom which was disappointing. We had to re-wash all of the bedding upon our arrival.

Great outdoor adventure home base

Great place to enjoy the mountains. Love this out of the way getaway. Peaceful and private. Central location for our adventures. Hosts do a great job and are very responsive. Have stayed before and plan to return. Highly recoemmend.

Perfect, remote, Xmas trip with my children

The cabin was small, but perfect for the five of us to explore the back yard, go skiing, and visit the Olympic sites in Lake Placid! The stairs to the river were awesome in the backyard of the property, and the benches to watch and listen to nature were perfectly placed. We didn't do a fire, but had we had more time, we certainly would have. There was even a Xmas tree in the cabin all decorated so it felt like we were right at home! Perfect place for a perfect long holiday weekend. Thank you!

Leaf Peeping

This location was "out in the woods" more than we are used to. We annually make this trip in October. But truly it really wasn't far away from food and everything we wanted to do. It was wonderful to wake in the morning and have coffee in the peace of the woods and hear the Ausable River below. Only one of us in the group go manage the stairs down to the river. They are built beautifully and sturdy but the level of space between the each step was quite steep. No complaints; just a heads up for anyone reading the review. The land, the cabin and area was cozy and beautiful. Thank you to the owners for letting us enjoy their beautiful space!

Cozy and quiet

We had a lovely stay at this property. It was the quietest spot that we've had the pleasure of staying in yet. The beds were very comfortable and the setup was cozy. It was located near lots of great hiking spots, but far enough away from them to feel private. I would definitely recommend this rental to others.

Cool!

We wanted a cool place to visit during August. The high temps were in the 70's. The location was great, off the beaten path for privacy, but close enough to lots of interesting areas. The cabin was spacious, clean and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone.

From the time we spent our honeymoon in Lake Placid, my husband and I knew we loved the area. We returned multiple times a year and finally decided we wanted to be able to share our love of the region with others. We enjoy coming to to the cabin with our family, but when we can't use it, we're happy other families get to enjoy the area!

Why they chose this property

This cabin is identical to the first cabin we stayed in eleven years ago. When we had the opportunity to purchase it, we couldn't resist!

What makes this property unique

The positioning of this property on the AuSable River affords renters many unique opportunities. The river is known for fly fishing, attracts majestic birds, provides endless exploration opportunities, and simply provides the relaxing background noise of a flowing river. The cabin itself is perched above the river, but a path behind the house provides winding steps that lead you to your own personal spot on this picturesque waterway
