Lovely 3200sqft home 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bath overlooking pond with acres of privacy
Beautiful “newly renovated” 3200 sqft 4 bedroom 3.5 bath home sitting on 23 acres of private tranquility yet close to all! 5 min to 1st class dining & shopping. 5 min to Lake Wylie! 20 min to uptown Charlotte. Previous owner had a Koi fish farm on the property, we kept the fish in the pond and completely renovated the house and cleared off nearly 8 acres around the property. House sits on 23 acres of fenced in land with trails for walking or mountain bikeing. Kayaking welcome on lake! Pets welcome. With the house being so close to water children must be watched at all times!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted with unexpected “Keep Out and Beware of Dogs” signs, which were not disclosed prior to our booking. The property was via a lengthy drive entryway surrounded by tall trees, leading to a house situated by a pond that appeared polluted. The designated guest entrance, per Phillip's email instructions, was through the back door. However, the entryway was obstructed by large spider nests, and the surrounding area was overgrown with weeds nearly as high as the house. Additionally, Phillip arrived unexpectedly during our check-in time and was observed cleaning the trash cans with “bleach”. His unannounced presence and the lack of prior notice about his arrival added to our discomfort. We initially felt uncomfortable entering the home, which appeared outdated and was infested with spiders. The rooms lacked televisions and were covered in spider webs. We discovered that none of the doors in the home locked, which was alarming given that our belongings were inside. We had dinner reservations to celebrate a family member’s birthday, After dinner, the situation worsening: black spiders emerged from the beds, cobwebs reappeared in areas the host had supposedly cleared, and frogs were present in the guest shower. This led to a panic attack for one of our group members. We quickly gathered our belongings and relocated to a hotel. This was extremely unpleasant. This property needs to be investigated by VRBO as it is unsafe and lacks sanitation.
The home and property are beautiful! The home is very large. We were a party of 9 people and there was plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed canoeing around the pond and walking around the 20 acres. Great place and would definitely stay there again. The host was wonderful.
Stayed 3 nights with extended family for a weekend event. The house was in a great location for easy access to the airport. Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful house and plenty of land to walk dogs around (they loved exploring). Beautiful kitchen, comfy couch, loved house lay out. Also bed and pillows (Master) were very comfortable!
We took a family trip up to Charlotte to visit Scarowinds. This was a great property and just what we needed. it was easy to get to and not far away from where we were going. We were in a neighborhood but we still felt like we had the privacy that we wanted. The pond outside was nice to look at and the property was big enough to have a nice little nature walk.
Our family greatly enjoyed our stay here. The home is very spacious and accomodated our large family. It is located in a nice area that's close to shopping and restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again.
My family stayed at this property for Christmas. We really enjoyed the location and space of the property. There was an issue where there was unseasonably cold weather that froze the well. The owner went above and beyond to fix the problem. It was resolved quickly through his big efforts. He was easy to deal with and close by to help. The location for my family to meet up with other members of our family was ideal. We would stay there again.
Hosted family and friends over an extended weekend. Phil did a phenomenal job communicating. Everything you can expect and want and need to host at a lakefront property.
This house is so big and beautiful. The host is so easy to work with. We would definitely stay again! I absolutely love the master bedroom/bath and the bed is so comfortable!!
The Owner was very responsive to any questions I had. We gathered to celebrate my granddaughter’s 15th birthday. Plenty of space for 7 adults, one teen and an infant. Kitchen was perfect with the dining room and living room. Outside areas clean and inviting.
We spent the day at Carowinds and it was so easy to get to and from the property. Really enjoyed this home.

Stay was good for a weekend staycation.
Renting property was exhausting due to previous tenants who had damaged property and left a bad taste with owner. Somethings need to be fixed on property for security purposes.
This is a very nice property right on enough water to relax. Owner very responsive and made sure all needs was fulfilled.

Okay stay
We had a nice stay but there were a few things we had issues with. When we checked in there was a child’s juice box opened and sticky spills on the ping pong table. There was no toilet paper, dish rags (sponge), ice maker did not work on fridge, one shower had hair all around the floor, not enough cooking utensils or pots/pans. We did enjoy walking on the property but there is a lot of ‘stuff’ laying around (old chairs, fencing, etc). Agree with a previous renter that the property needs finishing touches that would make it a great property. Host was helpful with letting us add a day to our stay but our booking was not changed on the VRBO site. We were also able to check in a little earlier than normal and that was really nice.
Had a great getaway in Charlotte! The house was amazing. The kids loved the ping pong table and koi fish pond. The house had everything we needed and the host attentive and responsive to all request.
This property has great features and the owners obviously are hospitable but there are some basic issues that significantly reduce from the advertisement and price point of the property. Such as;
Ceiling fans didn’t work. Air was not on with a late checkin making the first night unbearably hot upstairs. No tv remote, no cable access. Two sets of exterior doors do not lock! The exterior was in much worse condition than the pictures. The condition of the pond is so poor it is not an attraction. It’s very hard to locate from a very busy road. This property could really be worth the price with better property management. Existing manager is responsive but not helpful and not resolving issues that he is aware of.
Wish we could give a higher rating. wonderful home and really enjoyed our stay. Owner was incredibly helpful and accommodating

Beautiful house, responsive owner, but house needs finishing touches
6 adults over 40 with one dog; VRBO and Home Away multiple times before. Overall, property is nice and we had a great time. It just needs some preparation for its guests. The property manager, Phil, was very responsive to phone calls/texts, and he quickly addressed concerns.
Upon arrival, we had to wash 2 sets of sheets due to them not being cleaned properly. In the Master, we found a pillow covered in mold spores. There were only 6 bath towels in the entire house, 2 hand towels, no wash cloths, no dish towels. We found dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Phil was very apologetic, and said he would check on his cleaning crew in the future. He purchased 6 more towels and wash cloths along with steak knives once we realized there were none.
With the beautiful kitchen, we expected to do a lot of cooking in a fully stocked kitchen! We found a couple pots and pans, no strainers/colanders, no cutting board, no measuring cups, nor oven mitts. There was a baking sheet (cookie sheet) that was charred black. The ice maker was not working so we purchased bags of ice. We were disappointed to find mixed and matched cups, utensils, dishes, bowls and silverware. Looking through the kitchen, you will find MULTIPLE junk drawers and cabinets. In one, we found loose ammunition (live rounds).
The 4th bedroom is located on the first floor, does not have a door and can easily be seen from the dining area across the hall. There is only 1 TV. They have Netflix and over-the-air antenna channels; Internet is great. The downstairs area rugs are frayed with holes in them. In all the bathrooms, the hardware (toilet paper holders and towel racks) were falling off the walls.
The main gate is not electronic and does not have a mechanism to latch closed, we used a ratchet strap to keep the front gate closed. While the yard is “fenced” it has multiple gates and not all of them close.
There are long handled garden tools dispersed all around the yard, an old push mower in a bush right next to the driveway. There is a canoe but it was half full of green water. No cushions on the outdoor furniture.
There is a well placed swing seat overlooking the pond in the front yard that we all enjoyed. It was quiet in the house and there was plenty of room for all of use on the couch in the living room area. The dining table was great for dinner and family game nights. It is a close drive to Charlotte, far enough away to feel out in the country and not on top of other homes.
This house was amazing!!! It was very spacious and in a secluded area. My family was here to celebrate my moms 50th birthday and everyone wanted to move in. Phil (host) was prompt, super nice and accommodating. The house is 10 mins away from everything. I would definitely book here again!!

About the host
Hosted by Phil
Hi my names Philip, I'm a local and a business owner in the Fort Mill, Charlotte area. I live right down the street in the Palisades on Lake Wylie. I used to own several restaurants in the area (Longitude 81 and Firehouse grill [not subs]). My main business now is Piedmont Gold Exchange in Pineville. I play guitar and have two dogs and a blue & gold macaw. If you need recommendations for some of the better food in town don't hesitate to ask!
Why they chose this property
I drove by this property for years and saw it had been on the market for a long time so I reached out and discovered that it had been donated to the University of Arizona by the previous owner. They didn't know what to do with it so I gave them an offer and they took it. This is one of the largest uninterrupped parcels of land left in the area so I figured it would be a great investment. There are 6 wells extending towards the back of the property, I may establish some camping spots back into the woods eventually.
What makes this property unique
Front gates leads to long driveway going to the house. 23 acres of land to roam at your leisure, we have plans to build a mountain bike trail going through it as well as a disc golf course in the works. The entire 23 acres is fenced off though trees have fell across it in two spots so letting your dogs run free is not suggested. Koi fish pond in the front has hundreds of fish in it, we have a canoe so feel free to use it and feed the fish just please don't leave children unattended around it
