That place was incredible! The pictures don’t do it justice, especially the pool and the view. You could tell all the native stonework was done by some real craftsman and it was well maintained. The grandkids learned to snorkel in the pool and then had a great time snorkeling at the beaches.. All the rooms were well appointed, the beds were comfy and the individual bathrooms and outside showers in each room where a plus that we didn’t expect. We especially enjoyed all the professional landscaping and outdoor lighting. We liked the privacy and quietness of the location. You’ll be sold on the place just coming up the long driveway with all the stonework before you even see the main house.
We just got back from a week's stay at Island Stones. WoW! This was our first time staying at Island Stones. The view at Island Stones is breathtaking. The layout of the villa is sprawling and spacious. We had a group of 9, and we were never on top of each other—an exceptional pool area with ample chairs for the group. The property is 10-15 minutes from all the North Shore beaches. Stephanie and Nellie were great. They made sure we were taken care of during our stay. We are working on another trip and will rebook Island Stones.
This was our second time staying at Island Stones. We had a group of 8 consisting of friends and family with two teenagers. The view at Island Stones is unbeatable in our opinion. The villa is sprawling and spacious. Lots of space with an exceptional pool area. Very close to all of the North Shore beaches. I have vacationed on St. John for many years and this is my favorite villa based on privacy, view and location.
You cannot beat the view. I think I took at least 100 photos of just the view. Kids loved the game room and the pool. Thanks for a great vacation! See you again soon Island stones
Amazing property, incredible views. And let’s open with location… close to the beaches, a 12 minute drive to Cruz Bay, and even s decently close drive to east end. The pool view looking out over Cinnamon was amazing. Bedrooms are well furnished. We just lived everything about our stay! Thanks, John, for taking care of us!
Island Stones was a beautiful property that fit our needs. From the moment you drive up the driveway and see the property sign and stone work, you know it’s going to be amazing. The pool was awesome to spend time in on lazy afternoons after coming back from the beach. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes and appliances and bedrooms all had their own bathrooms, which is good when you are traveling with friends. We had so much fun at island Stones and will miss waking up to that view every morning!
The property is amazing! The views are absolutely stunning and the pictures online don’t give it justice. The game room was super fun with pool, darts and fuse ball. We need some lights fixed and a couple items for the kitchen & the property management was so responsive! We can’t wait to go back.
Great house with tons of privacy even if you have a large group since it is so spread out. Pool deck and view is unreal. Highly recommend. About 5 mins from Cinnamon Bay which in my opinion is the best beach on the island.
Absolutely stunning property and views! The pictures don’t do it justice, seeing it in person is, as stated, “stunning”. We took this trip with longtime friends and had planned it for about a year and it did not disappoint! All the rooms having their own outdoor showers was an added plus! The pool and pool bar was our favorite spot after a few hours at the beach coming back to relax and hang out there was an every day choice. We had a few water issues while there but Nellie and Colby were great to work with and fixed the issues. I would highly recommend the property and hope to have a chance to return!
I don't even know where to start. Communication with owners and Nellie was simply outstanding. Location cannot be beat.....Villa has everything you could need. Pool was outstanding, rooms were comfortable, kitchen was stocked, ample parking, outdoor area was comfortable. Villa faces north giving both amazing views and no sun-in-your-face afternoons. Already planning 2 weeks for next year at same location.
To the nay-sayers that complain about bugs, roads, etc.......It's a jungle, what do you expect? If you don't want any of that, go to Cayman or Nassau
Property is amazing, great space for 4 couples. The VIEW!!! St. John is breath taking, everyone, even beyond the property is so focused on an amazing vacation. We had one small issue and the property manager had it corrected in 20 minutes. Will book again, no hesitation! Great communication with the people that manage this property!
General thoughts: -Driveway can hold 3 cars, but requires some maneuvering to drive out forward.
-Recommend larger kitchen garbage can.
-Thanks to Nellie. She got another coffee pot for our large group.

Incredible Dream Vacation
I can't say enough how wonderful our stay was at "Island Stones". The amenities at the villa were second to none. The views throughout the property were postcard material. We had a group of 4 couples that all had outstanding master suites. Whether it was relaxing in and around the gorgeous pool, listening and playing music, or enjoying fun evenings in the game room, there was plenty to do for all. The location was perfect. We felt like we were in our own private hideaway, yet access to Cruz Bay and the north shore beaches was convenient. This was clearly a vacation for the ages and we are looking forward to a return trip to the island in the future. When we do, "Island Stones" will be our choice for accommodations.

What a view! Incredible property!
The view is so wonderful, it is never the same as the sunlight and cloud shadows change. The saltwater pool was the place to stay, play, relax...... The property is surrounded by lush tropical plants, flowers, birds, and island sounds. Very private, there were other homes but you couldn't see them. The home has unique craftsmanship, very island style and tasteful, it is arranged in a neat way, each bedroom is situated with a feeling of privacy with private entrances and most have views. We found the home clean, the property manager and owners were very responsive whenever we had questions. There is an endless variety of activities on the island and the other islands, but coming back to the house and the pool was never disappointing.
This property is fantastic and suited our group perfectly. We stayed here for a week with all of our adult children. We had 8 people total and it slept everyone very comfortably. When we weren't on the gorgeous beaches, a lot of time was spent having cocktails in the pool and enjoying the view overlooking Tortola.
The location has easy access to the numerous beaches and hiking trails on the island. A jeep rental is highly recommended so you can explore the whole island.
The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. There is AC in each room which kept us comfortable at night. Another perk is the whole house sound system that easily connects to your phone via bluetooth.
Overall, we highly recommend this property. We made many new memories with our family!

Disappointed
Beautiful view but the house Extremely dirty and i mean dirty everywhere. House keeper came over 1 times over 7 days stay. Toilet didn’t flush, A/C broke, bedroom was hot can’t sleep.
Good luck if you choose to stay here. I won’t come back again.

Please take me back ....
This property is absolutely wonderful, with potentially the best outdoor space we've ever stayed at. We stayed here from April 1-8 with another couple - needless to say, the four of us had MORE than enough space. The bedrooms are extremely private, & the baths plentiful. We enjoyed meals at the house, looking out over Jost, Tortola and Maho Bay. The view is simply beyond breathtaking ... and continues to change throughout the day. The home is in a TERRIFIC location to enjoy both the east end, northern beaches, Coral Bay and Cruz Bay. We have NEVER spent a full day at a home and one of the days, we spent our entire day at the house, floating around the pool, enjoying cocktails and lunch on the spacious pool deck, never getting enough of what truly may be the most beautiful view on earth. Thank you, from Minneapolis & Atlanta.

If the pool was all you needed
The pool was amazing, the deck, the view, the location were all incredible. The owner bought a high chair and baby gates for us and for the property, which was super awesome. We used both daily and were very appreciative. Other guests will also be grateful I know.
And if that’s all that mattered this property would be 5 stars. But unfortunately we did need more than the above and this property just wasn’t what we are used to for the $$$$/night. It is very outdated, dark, and dank. The beds were so uncomfortable: so hot (memory foam), & WAY to soft. I would lie awake and count hours until I could reasonably wake up. And I am a very easy going person, but I was literally miserable.
And we had to kill 2 tarantulas in the house, and countless jumping spiders…we are all for enjoying wildlife (which is abundant surrounding the property), including creepy crawlies outside, but seeing gigantic spiders in your bedroom and bathroom was more than we could enjoy.
If you were traveling with enough couples to occupy every bedroom at this property it would be very reasonably priced and the pool and location and coolers, chairs, etc that are provided would be super awesome and I think would make this property a total winner.
But for our family, occupying literally 2 bedrooms in the main house only…with all the issues I’ve mentioned it was just too expensive for what it is. We are used to swankier accommodations at that price/night.

Why they chose this property
While St John has always been our favorite place on earth, by far Catherineberg is the nicest location on all of St John. There are few prized parcels in this coveted location and you hardly know there is another property around. Located right in the middle of St John's north shore National Park, the views are some of the best on the planet. The convenience to the north shore beaches yet close to town is another factor in our choosing this location. The feel of Old St John with the nearby Catherineberg ruins adds a special uniqueness.
