You want to experience mountain life in the truest fashion? This is it! This cabin offers all the convenience to local attractions but is situated on over 2 acres. Sit and listen to the babbling creek that runs through the backyard or relax in the hot tub. For family fun, play volleyball, corn hole, giant connect four, or enjoy the 60-n-1 arcade game. Wildlife frequents the area and Snow White would be proud. This home is a rustic historic cabin built by the famous locals Ma and Pa Teaster after they were kicked out of Elkmont, which we highly suggest visiting. The story can be found in the book Last Train to Elkmont. They built this cabin on several acres and raised their family and farm. Many of their relatives and Parton relatives live in the area still today. The fireplace was build by another local historic figure, General Ogle. Property was clean and furnished nicely. Hot tub was great. The only negative thing would be the bees buzzing around outside making it difficult to enjoy being outside.
We had a wonderful time at this cabin! The rooms are really spacious, it was clean and the yard is amazing. Theres a creek that runs right through the back, and the hot tub was nice and hot! If you are looking for a place to have down time with family, but not too far into town, this is it! Our dogs loved it too! Overall a fantastic trip!!
We had a great Spring Break week at the Hillbilly Hideaway. While there were some things we are used to having available that weren’t, the Owners were responsive and did assist with any issue/questions that arose quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub multiple evenings and had fun roasting hot dogs and making s’mores! The area is quiet so if you’re looking for a place to get away and sleep in…you’ve found it!
We had a great time! The hot tub and fire pit was amazing on our cold nights (bring your own chairs for the pit). Communication with the owner was fast when we needed anything or had questions. Watch your head on the dinning room light haha. Would stay there again, overall great stay!!

Beware
Arrived a bit early but it didn’t really matter. No amount of cleaning was going to make this cabin acceptable. First it’s right off a fairly busy road which isn’t mentioned. This place is beyond rustic and approaching abandoned. Upon entering it’s hard not to notice the immediate problems. Starting with the smell of febreeze and cigarettes. You’ll notice the vinyl floors falling apart as you walk through the living room. On the rear porch there was a broken kitchen stove and a grill obviously left by a previous guest. If you look across the ditch or creek as it’s described you’ll notice the firepit surrounded by broken and neglected chairs. You may even get a glimpse of the trash on the hill like we did. The hot tub was huge and had plenty of dirt in it as well. Turning back to the house you’ll find plenty of torn or shredded screens if any at all. The bed in the master had a bed skirt that was filthy but it’s not surprising when you keep looking. You’ll find peeling paint, possible mold, and a thoroughly worn out old cabin. Obviously we decided after first look not to stay there. We were fortunate enough to find an alternative nearby but save yourself the agony skip this cabin. The pictures are not a good representation of this property. The only bright spot was that the host refunded my money right away after I notified them that we wouldn’t be staying.
The place was clean and ready for our stay. They had everything that was needed for our stay. We enjoyed the quietness, creek, and property. My kids (ages 3 - 9) had the most fun and it felt great to disconnect from phones and tablets. We have AT&T and had no service but the cabin has Wifi so if needed you can use it. I have nothing to complain about and really enjoyed our vacation in the cabin. Location was great to explore Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg too. Also the HOT TUB was amazing!
Thank you for everything!

Creek Fun
Great outdoor space in the back including the creek which our dogs loved. Great fire pit too. The property is close to the road and from the pictures you can't tell this. It says two acres but most of it is unuseable.
The teenagers enjoyed the loft and the beds are super comfortable. No cell service was nice as we were on vacation and wanted to disconnect.
I want to start with this property is awesome! good size rooms, hot tub, the creek running through the property is awesome we enjoyed the firepit as well. There was more parking then we expected after looking at it on google. The only thing is.... this is a very SHORT house. 2/3s of our group was 6'5" or taller. nowhere in the ad does it mention 6' doorways and 6'2" ceilings. Wasn't a big deal to us as we was enjoying outdoor amities 99% of the time we was there. So beware if you have taller people in your group. I would stay here again.
I stayed here with my family after a 3 day backpacking trip in the mountains and it was the perfect place for us! They had a little snack basket waiting for us on the table which was much appreciated after only eating our dehydrated backpacker meals for three nights. The yard is beautiful, private, and there’s plenty of space to chill and hangout as a group. The pac man game upstairs is a plus too! Definitely one of the best stays we’ve had in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Townsend area. Thanks for a great time!!!
Loved the cabin easy to find and very easy to park. We had everything we need and more, everything was easy to find. The hot tub was wonderful. Had trouble with the door lock and our code not working but our host responded quick and got us in. All around great stay

Property is overpriced for the condition. Issue with mold in bathrooms and rats in the house.
The property looks super updated from the pictures, but it wasn’t that way when we arrive.
1. Both bathrooms had terrible mold issue- they painted over the mold with just a regular paint that was chipping away. It was really bad- I wish we could attach pictures to our review.
2. Kitchen is quite outdated- mold in the cabinets. Coffee maker is very small (for the house that can host 6-8 people that is not good). Pans are chipped and burn whatever you out on them.
3. They are using well water that stinks like a rotten eggs. It made us gauge every time we washed our face.
4. There were rats running around the house, and rat poop in the laundry room. We understand that there might have been a general issue with the rats in the area due to the location and it being rainy season, but the house was not prepared. There are holes everywhere, which gives them easy access to the house, and the traps were not set. The owner sent the maintenance right a way, and they set the live traps the next day. But it didn’t resolve the issue. It was really bad!
5. The house smelled really bad when we got there. We understand it’s a wooden cabin, but I would think you would at least turn on AC when you know you have guests arriving.
6. Lightbulbs were all out in the master bedroom, and the main light is broken- the fan is full force on, and you can’t turn it off without turning off the light as well.
Overall house is located on the nice property, with the nice views, but is about that. But for the price we paid, we expected a little better conditions inside. And the owner wouldn’t lower the rate or give partial refund, because she blamed VRBO for high fees (should not be our problem). She offered to do refund for the remaining days of we decided to cancel (seriously- we booked this house in advance, and didn’t want to go to the hotel after all). And she wasn’t willing to issue any discount. Would not recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! As a cooking a grilling family we where pleased with being able to not eat out for a single meal the entire trip! Enjoyed the back porch every night with grilling and hot tub time as well as a camp fire. For sure would recommend this location to anyone who wants to be close to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area and not be stuck in a hotel of a cliff side cabin. Thanks for a great vacation getaway!
Pics are misleading, great location, needs more work.
It started when we walked in the door to the ac not working. We immediately contacted the owner who assured us it would be fixed asap and had a portable unit brought over. We checked with them daily about the air and it was never fixed even though we were told daily it would be. We had one end of the house that was unusable due to the heat. One of my sisters has asthma and had to sleep on an air mattress the whole trip in the one bedroom with air and the other had to sleep on the couch because her bedroom was too hot. The kitchen and bathroom drains were full of flies and smelled horrible. The one shower that we were able to use wouldn't drain and the water wouldn't get hot. It was too hot to cook inside so we wound up eating outside since it was cooler and to avoid the smell.. We stayed the duration of our rental because we live 8 hours away and this was our first vacation in 2 years. I asked the owner about a partial refund after them stringing us along promising that something would be done due to the issues with the cabin and they responded that we damaged a mirror and left a towel rack on the roof. Both of those claims are untrue. The mirror was mounted on the wall crooked when we arrived and the towel rack was also on the roof. Yep a towel rack was on the roof. I guess a 30 dollar mirror and 3 minutes to move a rack are supposed to balance out us spending four days with no air conditioning. Long story short the pics are misleading and the owners weren't very reasonable. The only positive was the location and the fact I got to spend time with my family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Clean and lively house with beautiful landscape. The owners were very responsive. I would absolutely recommend this property.
We had a wonderful time. The only problem was there was no cell service for the phones. Other than that we love it!!

We have always loved visiting the Smokies. We found this historic cabin in shambles and decided to buy it and make it our paradise.
