Cabin was nice and clean and perfect for my family of 3. River mountain scenery is beautiful and thankfully there weren’t many camper neighbors there at the time.
This was a great spot with beautiful scenery, only thing that caught me by surprise was that it was on a camping ground and we were pretty close to other people. Had expected it to be much more isolated as the pictures didn’t show the rest of the grounds. But despite that minor thing, it was a great place that I’m very grateful for. Thank you!
I like it. I would book again but in warmer weather for me. I enjoy the scenry, the openness and the quietness. One suggestion, maybe i overlooked it but state that cell phone connectivity is low due to area. If you have a wifi code you should include it in welcome letter as when you get there the service is very low to non existing.
It was a father/son trip to see a football game in Blacksburg. Cabin is about 20 minutes (10 miles) from town.
Simple and clean. just as described. As one reviewer said, the heater is not quite strong enough to not be bundled up inside when the outside temps drop below 30. However, our first night we were fine with temps around 40.
The shower and bathroom was not far away and is heated. Someone mentioned the sulfur smell of the water, it was evident during shower but did not linger on our bodies.
Wi-Fi worked great and had great coverage.
I did make the mistake of not screen-shotting the check in instructions and there is no cell service at the site. No big deal, just drove up the road about 4 miles to get it downloaded.

Great weekend getaway
First I must mention I think the water is from a well and smells of sulfa. (It stinks like rotten eggs) My wife couldn’t smell it so it might be just me. The bathhouse was typical for a camping area. There are two bathrooms. It is heated and there is hot water for showers if you can get by the smell. The toilet paper was of good quality. The cabin itself was just as described in the add. No frills and you supply your own towels and linens. It is heated which we needed. It is located right next to the beautiful New River there are two busy railroad lines, one on the other side of the river and the other across the road from the property. Personally I love the sounds of the trains. There is one other cabin and there are a few permanent residents on the property and the adjacent property. It is beside what I assume is a rafting and tubing company which was not operating when we were there in late October 2023. There are interesting towns around and the fall colors were spectacular. We were there for a long weekend had a great time. Larry Moore - from Richmond, VA
The cabin was clean and great! The only thing that would have made it perfect is if there was a mirror inside. Anytime I needed a mirror, I had to walk to the bath house. Thanks!
The owner answered emails really fast during our stay. It was very clean. It got down to 32 degrees outside, but that little heater had us toasty the whole time. I'm hugely pregnant and slept awesome on the mattress. Also, the bathroom was really close. It's a campground bathroom; don't expect the Hilton. I have AT&T and had 4g the whole time but some of my family on different services didn't at all. Other campers were really quiet and the grounds were very neat.
Great location to relax and spend some quality time with friends. Based on the other reviews I was nervous about the noise from the trains, but I slept right through the night without any issues. It was great having a bathroom and showers near by too.
Can’t wait to go back for some tubing.
The place was nice and Jake was very good at communicating what to bring/what is provided. The trains passing by really weren’t an issue, we slept perfectly through the night without being woken up by any. A cozy little spot that is nice if you’re looking to unplug and chill out.
Everything was good so far but for the heater didn’t give us warm enough to sleep during winter, beautiful scenery perfect river.

Disappointing
I booked this as a surprise trip for my boyfriend’s birthday and was disappointed to say the least. When a listing says it has a heater and just to bring linens (not hinting at bringing another heater or extra blankets), I expect for the heater to work. We were FREEZING the first night and had to drive up to Walmart the second day to buy a heater to keep us warm the last night. The bathroom is the most disgusting thing either of us have ever been in - and he’s former Army! I wasn’t told that others would be on the property as well, also wasn’t advised that there were trains that constantly went by all day and all night. The view is beautiful, the cabin is how it’s presented - but everything else was disappointing and deceiving, and we made the best of what we had. Very disappointing first VRBO experience and even more disappointed that it had to happen on my surprise getaway for my boyfriend.
We had a great time at the cabin! The view is absolutely amazing! The cabin and the campground had all we needed. There are trains right behind the campground, but I brought ear plugs and was able to sleep comfortably. The bathrooms could use an upgrade. The cabin itself was clean, super cute, and cozy! Jake was available to answer our questions and is very pleasant to interact with. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend!
The cabin was very clean and conveniently located to the bath house and lake as depicted in the ad. The campground staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I are from Georgia and are wanting to move to Virginia. So I decided to book us a trip here and I’m so glad I did! This was the best experience we’ve ever had! The lil cabin is sitting right in front of a picturesque view of the river and mountains. You can tube down the river on your own tubes or rental ones all day and be brought back by bus for $5!! It’s a lazy river too we took our little dachshund with us and she fell asleep! If you don’t get to the end before 6pm you have to walk a mile, we had to but it was so pleasant and beautiful. Theres some small gnats at night but nothing that bites, and no mosquitos!! The air is so fresh and cool, it was so relaxing just sitting outside by the cabin. There’s a train that goes through the mountain and behind the cabin. Personally I thought it was so cool watching the train. It mainly runs during the day because it didn’t wake me at night. The owners are super nice and helpful! I would definitely live here 🥰🥰🥰 thank you so much for having us! We’ll be back!!!
Staff was friendly and helpful,
The bathrooms could use a update. and cleaning.
The train passing through along the side of camp BLOWING HORN loudly (several times) different hours in the early Am ( like 1am 3 am)GRRrrr
If you like the camping life but want the comfort of a bed, AC, electricity, frig, and no set up, this sweet little cabin is your place. Staff is friendly, there is a small store, and it is quiet at night. Being next to the river is an added plus. Bathhouse close to cabin. I would book again.
It was my first time taking a solo trip so I was nervous at first but as soon as I arrived I knew I made a good decision. The cabin is bigger than it seems, the pictures online don’t do the campground justice- it’s so beautiful and peaceful and the surrounding campers were all so friendly and full of conversations. Next to the campground is tubing and kayaking so there are a lot of activities to keep you entertained for hours! Nearby you can hike and see an amazing waterfall :) overall I had a lovely experience and the people there made it all the more special. Will definitely be returning!
