About this property

Rustic cabin near RMNP with screened-in deck, meadow view, and wood stove

Meadowsweet is one of the three properties Crooked Mountain Cabins offers. Located on 40 acres of rolling meadows and forests, Crooked Mountain Cabins are an easy 20-minute drive from the Wasagaming townsite of Riding Mountain National Park. This lovely cabin was renovated in spring 2023 and is now open year-round, with a wood stove to help you enjoy the winter months! It is perfect for family holidays and groups ranging from 5-8 people. It offers peace and quiet and is situated close to the forest, with a lovely view of the property and wildflower meadow. Guests love the screened-in deck to enjoy the fresh air and views of the meadow and forest.

We have been featured by The Huffington Post, TravelManitoba.com, eBrandon.ca, Nuvo Magazine, Narcity.com, and The Cottager Magazine.

Meadowsweet Cabin is fully-equipped and feels like a home away from home. You will wake up to birdsongs and can walk out your cabin door on a private, groomed trail which loops through the forest for a 2 km hike. The cabin offers a serene atmosphere for nature enthusiasts looking to enjoy the property’s beauty or visitors to Clear Lake Country looking for tranquility after a day in Wasagaming.

This cabin has a full kitchen including stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and more. There is also a gas BBQ on the screened-in deck. Also supplied are blankets, towels (except beach), toilet paper, tissue, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, saran, tinfoil, coffee filters, salt, pepper and sugar. The drinking water is excellent – no need to bring bottled water. All you need to bring is your own food and drink.

Crooked Mountain Cabins is home to many wildlife, fungi, and bird species, including the Great Grey Owl - making us a popular destination for birdwatchers, artists and photographers. Our guests enjoy hiking the private hiking trail, fishing in the nearby creek, biking on country roads, golfing in Clear Lake, photographing wildlife, writing, and painting.

Meadowsweet Cabin provides guests with peaceful retreat in nature along with easy access to modern conveniences and all that Clear Lake Country has to offer. Nature enthusiasts can explore the on-site hiking trail or spot the various bird and animal species that call the forest home.

In Riding Mountain National Park, guests can hike, bike, boat, canoe, kayak, swim, fish, golf, picnic, cross-country ski, and much more! The Wasagaming townsite features a lovely beach and will satisfy all of your shopping, dining, and entertainment needs.

Beautiful Property

Such a beautiful location for a quiet weekend away. Went with some friends for a bachelorette and rented two of the cabins. We had such a lovely stay inside and the property around gave us so much room to enjoy the nice weather outside as well. Host was fantastic to deal with, would highly recommend!

Crooked mountain cabins

Wonderful area to stay in. Nice and quiet. Vrbo site said cabin had a/c but it did not. Site also said it has smoke detectors but they were not mounted/ operational. Grill is in poor shape. Views are wonderful and site provided great access to RMNP. Overall we had a good visit

Nice place

Hard to find. Nice beautiful location. Owner was easily accessible. Door to one bedroom was missing a door knob. Could have trapped yourself in that room if you were ot careful.

Really secluded and quiet

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this cabin. The area is just perfect and my kids had a great time walking the path from the cabin over and over (and over) again looking at the wildlife in the area. We saw deer, snakes, squirrels and a log that's filled with frogs. The cabin itself was quiet and cozy with plenty of towels and most of the appliances or implements we needed. We would have really appreciated some soap as well as teabags or coffee, and possibly some sugar packets. That was all that was lacking however. Directions to the cabin could have been better, as there's no cell coverage when approaching and the VRBO app won't work without internet, even for downloaded information. We were given a lat/long for navigation which was close but a little inaccurate. A recommendation would be to provide a road the location is located on, so that people using Google maps can head to that road. All in all it was a great stay and we would definitely be back!

Great getaway from the city

We really enjoyed our stay. This cabin is surrounded by trees and grass, pure nature. There's a trail starting directly behind the cabin, don't forget mosquito spray! To get there, there's a few miles of gravel road.

My husband and I have been running Crooked Mountain Cabins since the summer of 2021, following our marriage in April of 2021. We took over from the previous owners, who had been running the business for 12 years.

Why they chose this property

We were initially drawn to the property’s peaceful setting and raw natural beauty. The spacious landscape will allow us to one day build a home on site, living close to nature and raising our children while hosting interesting people from all over the world.
