Northeast Tucson 2 bedroom-2 Bath-Pool-Oasis Paradise

Rustic, quiet, beautiful, and private. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath guesthouse has charm, comfort and serenity! On our 1 1/2 acre property you will relax, recharge and connect with Mother Earth the moment you step through the gates in your own personal sanctuary.

The guest house shares the grounds with our other vacation rental, Hubbard's Hacienda, the larger house that accommodates larger groups.
Although Jasper and Quill, our Donkeys, no longer reside on the property, their spirit lives on at the Bed and Burro!

The guest house has a wood-burning fireplace, and access to a huge patio with gas grill. There is a private entrance with off street parking and your own washer and dryer.

There is a nice size pool (not heated) and many areas of the grounds that allow you to relax, meditate and reflect and recharge. There is a hammock, a meditation garden swing, and numerous sitting areas around the grounds. The gentle wind chimes will allow you to find your inner peace and become one with the Sonoran Desert.

Convenient to restaurants and shops as well as Sabino Canyon, Mt. Lemmon, and Saguaro National Park East. Tucson is home to Kitt Peak National Observatory, San Xavier Mission, Pima Air and Space Museum, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, University of Arizona, Tucson Botanical Gardens, and more. Perfect for visitors to the World's Largest Gem and Mineral show, La Fiesta de Los Vaqueros Rodeo, and the UofA Wildcats.

The perfect location for biking, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching and golf (35 courses). For day trips try Nogales, Kartchner Caverns, Bisbee, Tombstone and Tubac.

Bicyclists!!: We are on the Northeast side of Tucson and have countless bike trails to all major attractions. We are on the route of El Tour de Tucson and the Bed and Burro Inn is perfect for your base.

The Bed and Burro shares the grounds with our other vacation rental, Hubbard's Hacienda, a larger house that is perfect for up to 7 people. If available, both properties can be rented for larger parties.

Great stay at the Bed and Burro

For a short stay to visit family, this was a perfect stop. It was close to our family and the mountains where we had a great view. The grounds were beautiful and the Guest house was clean and accommodating. The host was very helpful. We definitely would go back.

Warmth!

Great to get out of winter! Location has positive and negative qualities. Positive: very quiet, peaceful setting; noise is not an issue. Negative: a fairly long drive from anywhere (20-30 mins. at least) though supermarket is only 5 mins. away by car. If you like driving, then it shouldn't be a problem for you. The building in back (where we stayed) is small; just right for 2 people, OK for 3, rather snug for 4. Kitchen is well-appointed but tiny, only one person can effectively operate there at a time. Unit was clean when we arrived. Owner is very responsive; answered my texts quickly.

Clean without being so sterile it wasn't homey for the holidays

We stayed with myself parents' in law and our two kids and my husband's sister and brother in law and college aged daughter joined us at the casita for the last three nights. This place has so much character and wild life around (my son and his grandpa enjoyed taking walks to look for coyotes...we grew up in Arizona but my son has been raised in the Northeast and was fascinated by the desert foliage and the wildlife). Mr. Hubbard was very responsive when my daughter ate the "bewberries"off the lantana plants in the front yard and promptly gave us information on the plant and numbers for local poison control and fire department which turned out to be unnecessary as she was fine and the berries are apparently not toxic when they turn blue, but I appreciated his prompt response and concern. The house is definitely not child proofed which he was very up front about, but, when my sister in law came my husband did end up sleeping on the couch by the back door to make sure our six year old did not come wandering out to look for his aunt and cousin in the middle of the night as the pool is between the back door and the casita. If one is going to be away for the holidays though, this was such a great place to spend it. And as we have a lot of family in Tucson we will probably be back for the holidays again. He was also very accommodating with an early check in. My parents in law who drove in from Nevada appreciated being able to get in early and take a rest after their long drive.

Winter Break Away

Perfect place for our stay in the Tuscon area. We stayed for one week in the Bed & Burro. Our purpose was to ride bikes and train with friends. This was the perfect set up. We met the group during the day to ride. And in the evenings for dinner. The Burro was a nice quiet place to lay our heads and call home @ night. We did use the pool side area during the afternoons which was clean and inviting.

Great little place

This guest house is a great little place to stay on the best side of town in Tucson. The property is very clean, easy to get to as well as nice and quiet. The property is close to Mt. Lemmon, Tanque Verde falls, Saguaro park east. All great places for spring time outdoor activities. Only communication I had with William was on the day of check in. Thats because I had no issues at all during my stay. Check in directions were clear and easy. William was nice to chat with on the phone. Will absolutely recommend this place!

A Slice of Paradise

Our stay here was nothing short of fantastic. The facility was clean and access was easy. The overall appearance of the house was very nice. Even though we did not use the pool, we could tell it is well maintained. A very relaxing stay. Definitely would stay again.

Beautiful retreat space

We felt so lucky to have found this property that is both close to so many outdoor attractions and feels peaceful and 'away from it all'. The quiet, spacious patio space is green and open and removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. All the ameneties needed to prepare a meal, sleep comfortably, etc. We appreciated the basket of pamphlets on local attractions, as well as the shoppers discount cards left out-- what a considerate touch by the hosts. We would absolutely stay here again.

Bed and Burro

Great location for hiking in the West Saguaro National Park, Sabino and Bear Canyons, and for a trip up Mt Lemon. The guest house was very clean. The 2 bedrooms are a good size. The sitting and eating area and the kitchen are small, but the kitchen is very well equipped. Having 2 ensuite bathrooms was great. Communication with William was excellent. The neighborhood is very quiet. All in all, my wife and I enjoyed our stay very much, and would definitely stay there again.

Gem in tanque verde

The owners were very responsive in answering any questions. The property is very nice and seems private and quiet. Loved the little house. Everything worked as needed and the beds were very comfortable. Had no problems with the outdoor common areas as our neighbors were very welcoming and fun. Enjoyed it very much.

Very Southwest setting, inside & out

Enjoyed our stay. Happy to be out of the hustle & bustle of Tucson traffic but within less than 10 minutes of any shopping you need. Site is on northeastern edge of Tuscon city limits with a feel of the desert. Unit has internet TV, so get briefed on how to use it.

COVID Screwed!!

With the beginning of the COVID nightmare and the travel restrictions to follow , we never had the opportunity to use our rental and lost out on the vacation.

My wife and I live in Camarillo, California after living in Tucson and Hawaii. After a career in school guidance counseling and teaching, we continued our pursuit of acting, writing and producing here in California. We also run a comedy improv troupe, Free Range Comedy and enjoy the beach as much as we can. We hope our properties will bring you peace and relaxation and a sense of calm in your life. Please enjoy your stay and have safe travels.

This home is a labor of love and we wish we could move it to the beach!!

This is our home and we love it! Please enjoy the home during your stay but remember it is our home too. If you break something, let us know. If something needs our attention, let us know. And remember to leave the home in the same way you found it. If you move furniture, please put it back the way you found it. Enjoy our home as if it were yours. Thanks!!

Why they chose this property

This was the perfect property for us when we purchased it in 2000. It is on a little over an acre of land, and was just big enough to accommodate our 2 donkeys, 3 dogs and 2 cats. It is just outside the city The animals are now with us in California…well not the donkeys…they are living on a wonderful ranch north of Tucson.
We have a wide variety of wildlife here, and our guests like the seclusion and peacefulness that surrounds them.
We didn't know how to market the property, but Vicki came up with The Bed and Burro. We had 2 donkeys and at the time I don't believe there was another rental that has pet donkeys on the property!! Quill, is our rescue donkey from Nevada and Jasper is our newest. They no longer are on the live on a beautiful ranch near Aravaipa Canyon, but there memory is still present.

What makes this property unique

Your stay here will be peaceful and relaxing. Your casita comes fully equipped with a full kitchen, laundry facilities, linens and towels. You have your own private driveway and parking area and the benefits of the entire grounds to rest and relax.
You might be lucky enough to see some of the wildlife here including many bird species, javelina, bobcats, coyotes, and lots of rabbits!
We are very close to outdoor activities including the Saguaro National Monument East, Mt. Lemmon and Sabino Canyon. Many guests use this as a base for day trips to Tombstone, Karchner Caverns and Mexico.
