Lovely property, beautiful view

This property was exactly what we needed for getting out of the city for a couple of days of relaxation and sunshine. The area is very quiet and rural, and the house was spacious, clean, and well stocked with necessities for our stay. The owners were a delight and were so helpful! We highly recommend!

Beautiful, peaceful and stunning views

I stayed with my sons over the Christmas holiday. The house is beautiful with a view over Lake Champlain and access to the lake too. The owners were extremely helpful to give us recommendations on what to do in the area, as well as where to go for groceries, restaurants, outdoor activities, etc. If you enjoy cooking the kitchen is extremely well equipped! We really enjoyed it and highly recommend the property!

Loved everything about our stay

Grace went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed- she even had firewood delivered for us for the backyard fire pit. The house is beautiful, and the the view is stunning. We felt so at home in the house - we didn’t want to leave. Everything was well appointed and Grace made sure the house had every amenity. Our only regret was that we were traveling for work and wished we could come back for a vacation to further enjoy the house and the beautiful surroundings! Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay! Hoping to come back again!

Stunning view

This property was an amazing welcome to my first time in Vermont. The hospitality of the owner made the transition from a busy life to tranquility seamless. This beautiful home was spacious, peaceful, and comfortable with the most amazing views of Lake Champlain. The home is well appointed and has everything that you need. My sweetheart and I were able to enjoy the home as much as we enjoyed the scenic drives and hikes. The owner’s personal touch (a favorite album in her collection) added warmness to a much anticipated final tour of our favorite band. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. I look forward to returning.

Family Trip to Vermont

I graduated from Middlebury in 2005 and had not returned since. I have always spoke fondly of my time in Vermont to my family and decided it was time to make a trip back and share some of those experiences with my wife and 2 boys. From the start Grace was very communicative and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The house has a record player and Grace asked if we had any requests and made sure the album we had asked for was there for us to listen to! Upon arriving we were immediately struck by the unbelievable views of Lake Champlain and the beautiful sunset that welcomed us on our first day. We all loved the dock that was recently built and spent every morning and evening fishing. The welcome basket Grace put together was fantastic and we can’t recommend the creamees from Lu Lu Ice Cream enough! Grace provided us a ton of great recommendations and a few of our favorites had to be cliff jumping and swimming at Bristol Falls and dinner at Basin Harbor. Grace was very accommodating…making sure there were age appropriate games available for our boys and she even had additional fishing supplies delivered given our boys love for fishing. The quiet and views the house offered were exactly what we were looking for and the proximity to Middlebury was a bonus! I really appreciate Grace and her family sharing their space with us so I could share the magic of Vermont with my wife and kids. Highly recommend and we definitely plan on coming back!

So peaceful

I hate to give a good review, because I want the house to be available when we return to Vermont. Grace was so easy to communicate with, and she was on top of our trip from the moment I requested the dates. I'd told her we were dropping our son off at Norwich University, and she kindly gave us details about the trip to Norwich (which is about an hour's drive; maybe a little more if you get lost). She provided information about where to shop and eat. And, she was quick to respond to text messages. She was always available. The home is lovely. It is very comfortable and has everything you can possibly need--including kayaks (be sure to look for spiders) and a paddle board. We bought some firewood from a local store and sat by the fire pit one night. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to cook (pots, pans, plates, etc). It rained everyday we were there. We were visiting from California and are not accustomed to summer rains, but the view of the lake from every room and the patio made the rain irrelevant. The area is very quiet. Don't let that airport on the map fool you. We saw almost nobody for the entire week we were there. We were able to take nice walks, and a few of our peeps took morning runs on the quiet roads. If you are look for peaceful, this is it. Thank you, Grace!

About the host

We are a family who loves to travel and host. We have found Vermont to be our sanctuary and we hope it is the same for our guests.

Why they chose this property

Imagine working remotely and looking out your window to see the geese, cranes, eagles, loons and hawks sway up and down the lake. Or settling around the outdoor fire pit for sunset and a cider. This property allows for both leisure and remote work. It has provided us with countless memories...a sanctuary of sorts from the demands of working life. We believe this space is worthy of sharing.

What makes this property unique

We believe our house to be perfect for families and/or for people looking for a picturesque place to work remotely. We have been thoughtful in having children's toys and books along with a desk equipped with a monitor to connect your laptop to for double screen workspace.
With large windows, private balconies off two of the rooms and unobstructed patio and shoreline, the views of the lake are simply breathtaking. The lake and mountains surround the house in a mesmerizing way. The sunsets over the lake are out of this world. It became a nightly ritual for us to sit on the patio and watch the sunset expand across Lake Champlain and Adirondack mountains.
The quiet stillness of the area allows for incredible nature and bird watching. Within the area we have spotted foxes, deer, coyotes, rabbits, skunks, bald eagles, osprey, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers and so many more. It is incredible to watch the bald eagles swoop down and catch fish at sunset. Stargazing is also a treat with little-to-no light pollution in the area. We are biased but we believe there is a little bit of magic in this slice of Earth.

For the winter months, we are approx 1 hour away from skiing (downhill and cross-country skiing) at either Middlebury Snow Bowl, Mad River Glen Ski Co-op or Sugarbush ski resort.

For the summer months, we are 15 minutes away from Basin Harbor Resort. A perfect spot to grab a bite to eat, rent a boat or play a round of golf.
