About this property

Aspen Lodge at Timberline Meadows, 1st Floor Unit

Summary:
Aspen Lodge is a comfortable cabin in Timberline Meadows with views of the upper Methow Valley. This listing is for the first-floor unit, featuring a queen bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, and open living area with a gas fireplace and large windows. Just 2 miles from the Mazama Store, it offers direct winter access to Methow Trails. The second floor is not rented separately when the first floor is booked, ensuring privacy.

The Space:
Aspen Lodge is a comfortable cabin nestled in the pines with views of the upper Methow Valley. This listing is for the first-floor unit only, which accommodates two guests in a queen bedroom. The unit features one bedroom, one bathroom, and a spacious open-plan living area with large windows looking through the trees toward the meadows.

Located in the Timberline Meadows community, just 2 miles from the Mazama Store, the cabin enjoys a peaceful setting. In winter, it offers direct access to a groomed Methow Trails cross-country ski, fat bike, and snowshoe trail. Set back from SR20 across hay fields and bordering National Forest, the area provides quiet surroundings with stunning valley and Goat Wall views.

Aspen Lodge is designed as two separate rental units with a shared mudroom. This listing is for the first floor only, but guests may also rent the entire cabin - see our separate listings for details.

The first floor includes a queen bedroom, a bathroom with a tub/shower, and a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. The open living area features a cozy gas fireplace, two couches, and a wall of windows overlooking the meadow. The shared mudroom entryway includes a washer/dryer, with separate keyed entrances for each unit. When rented separately, the loft space remains inaccessible, ensuring privacy and security.

The Neighborhood:
The Timberline Meadows development, located in the Upper Methow Valley, is home to eight nightly rentals, as well as several private homes. The homes are all nestled in the trees at the edge of the National Forest. The wintertime ‘John’s Way’ cross country ski, snowshoe and fat bike trails connects Timberline Meadows to Mazama and the Upper Methow trail system (permits required), making this a great ski-in / ski-out location, away from the bustle of the Mazama trailhead but close enough to ski down to the store.

It’s a 20 minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 21 minutes to Washington Pass and 27 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this a great hiking base-camp for exploring the North Cascades and for beating the crowds to the trailhead during larch season.

The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and ‘a little bit of everything good’ is just a 5 minute drive or 10 minute bike ride from the cabin, and around 20 minutes by ski (depending how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.

The old west town of Winthrop is 12 1/2 miles and around 15 minutes drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments; the Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Rafting’s raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthrop’s annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas At The End Of The Road (check the town’s website for details).

Getting Around:
Getting here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over highway 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. Nearest major airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (258 miles / 4.5 hrs drive).

No iron

Great place! Clean, comfortable bed, well provisioned kitchen appliances and utensils. Iron board with no irin. Had to drive to MAZAMA INN to "borrow" an iron, with the expectation we would return it. We did not return it. We left it in the unit. Listing clearly states "iron / ironing board" as items available in the unit.

Perfect cabin in the woods

We had a wonderful stay; the view off the deck across the valley and up some mountains was beautiful and peaceful. The only issue we had was with directions to the place. They could be more explicit and helpful.
