Just what we needed

We just needed a place to lay our heads to sleep and a hot shower. The spot was perfect and felt private. The host was very friendly and communicative.

Childless getaway

We have previously stayed in this cabin with our children and opted to stay with some friends. It was a fabulous time. I highly recommend.

Great time!

We throughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin, though primitive, did offer four folding chairs, firewood, some cooking supplies, inside table and chairs, and a nice bed. We enjoyed cooking over the open fire, fishing at the river, and enjoying nature's beauty! The porta-potties (2) were clean and had tissue and hand sanitizer. It was great there were solar lights (2) inside the cabin, and one as a porch light. We drove less than 1/2 hour to VA Mountain Vineyards and had a wonderful time with a glass of wine and antipasto salad enjoying the beautiful venue and Mountain Views! Great campground, great location, great time on the James!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We loved our time here! We actually thought it better than the listing. Loved the extra touches like the bowl with hand soap and towels, the grill accessories, ghost story books and more. Cabin, campsite and port-a-john were all clean. Campground has only 15 sites, just two have cabins. We hiked every day leaving the campground. Many beautiful trails and parks within short drives. Would definitely stay again!

Our family loved this little cabin!

It was so peaceful and inviting! The river is right down the lane and very fun for the kids to play in. The cabin itself is clean and has everything you need to camp.

About the host

Richard & I live on his family farm that was started by his grandfather and passed down to his father and then to Richard. We have renovated the original farmhouse and offer it as a vacation rental, and have built a campground on the James River property. Our newest "venture" is the primitive cabin at the Campground. We have been extremely blessed and want to share that with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We began the Gala River Front Campground in partnership with Twin River Outfitters in Buchanan, VA. The campground was well received and has grown to contain glamping tent sites as well as standard tent and camper sites. We've decided to go a step further and add a primitive cabin to accommodate the canoe and kayak guests who have limited space for provisions.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin has a set or bunk beds, two roll-a-way cots, and two fold out cots as well as an indoor dining table and chairs. We have an outside picnic table and a fire ring. We provide bag chairs for seating and supply a filled water jug for our guests. A Dumpster and port-a-potty are centrally located to the cabin.
