Nice Place

Rustic cabin/home on beautiful property. Nice trails outside the door. Nearest house is 1/2 mile away - didn't hear them at all. National Forest lake about 2 miles from house. The well water is awesome. Small grocery store in a gas station about 2 miles away - otherwise it's a haul to the bigger towns. If you want rustic and seclusion - it's nice.

Getaway from the big city, enjoyed the fall colors and persue the woodland ruffed grouse.

Very clean, functional, lots of room on a large section of property. Very quiet, could hear the wolf howl on two nights. Lots of antiques from early Wisconsin history abound in the rooms.

Very private

We very much enjoyed our stay. This is an old historical cabin with probably 2-3 additions. It was fun to walk around looking at everything and trying to figure out the history. While the cabin is very old, everything functioned well and was clean. We were able to make multiple full meals with no issues. The property is fantastic, private and away from roads which is important for keeping our dogs safe. While you visit, check out Dunbar Barrens State Nature Area. What a hidden gem; we spent hours hiking.

Rustic up north cabin

Definitely an "up north" cabin. The property is beautiful and secluded. The cabin is rustic and has that old cabin feel. Pros: Secluded, roomy, close to nice secluded little beach, loved the use of the kayaks, owner was great to communicate with Cons: It was listed as waterfront and came up with a picture of a beach, so we assumed this was right on a lake (our fault). That was our biggest disappointment. Also, I'm guessing because the cabin was closed up before our visit, it smelled musty and we needed to air it out really well when we got there as I get migraines from that. We had a great stay and really enjoyed the use of this cabin, just wish it wasn't listed as waterfront under VRBO's website.

Great stay away from the city and urbanization

Loved the property, it is well maintained and clean with all the amenities required. We had everything in the apartments which was required and everything was well communicated. I just wish there is WiFi in the future. But overall no complaints.

Clean, private, lovely cabin on a wonderful property.

My family's stay at Chris and Heather's cabin was in a word amazing. The cabin was clean, cozy, and much bigger than the pictures show. The cabin sits on 60 acres of wooded land with a creek. The property is gorgeous and private, we didn't see or hear a neighbor the whole time but it was only a 10-minute drive to town for fuel and food. We spent a whole day out on the private ATV trails Chris and Heather just put in and honestly could have done another day without being bored with them. The location of the cabin is perfect. It is only 40ish minutes from many local waterfalls, fishing spots, and hiking trails. Heather and Chris also had the cabin stocked with everything you would need from bug spray and sunscreen to a fully stocked kitchen. We grilled out on the propane and gas grill every night and used the fire pit for s'mores too. If you have a telescope I suggest you bring it. With the cabin being far enough away from major towns, we saw more stars than I have ever seen before. Every night, we laid out in the yard and just took in the gorgeous night sky. Heather was wonderful and answered all of our questions and gave us helpful little tips about the place including where to go on the property to pick wild raspberries and blueberries. My seven-year-old loved pumping water from the well, catching trout in the creek, and exploring the property. My 16-year-old could've spent days out on the ATV trails and walking the property. There is no internet, which is what we were looking for, but our phones still worked perfectly. We are already planning to book with Chris and Heather again for the spring or fall of next year.
