This place was awesome. Great location. Quiet. There were a few imperfections we took pictures on upon arrival just because the refundable deposit was pretty expensive to stay. For instance, a corner of the tall lamp by the little closet had a piece of the stone woodstove slab under it to keep it level. These things didn't effect the quality of our stay I'm just a licensed home inspector so that's what I do. We had a great time and plan to come back. Would give it 10 stars if I could.

Not as described from VRBO

I was looking for a place while our house was being completed. There was only one bed and when you pulled out the sofa bed you couldn’t get to the bathroom. This place was not for families.

Perfect little spot!

Adorable cottage with everything the two of us and our pup needed for an awesome long weekend getaway. Very clean even the bedspread smelled freshly laundered! Very short walk to the water easy access to launch kayaks and hubs even caught some redfish! If you are looking for a secluded quaint and clean getaway I highly recommend ❤️

Not what we were expecting

I am happy to see that the description of this rental has been updated to note that there may be campers on the property. We had no idea this would be a possibility and would not have rented had we known. I felt the description of the property did not represent this and we were very disappointed to find no less than 5 campers on the property at the sound access. When I notified the owner we were leaving a night early and were disappointed to find campers on the property the response I got was "It's Labor Day weekend, usually no one is there". I was expecting to have at least semi private access, but this was not the case. Also, we have never stayed in a VRBO that did not have a list of emergency numbers available. The only check in info we got was the code for the key box and a message saying the owner would be available by text. When we arrived and turned on the lamps (there are no overhead lights) we started smelling a burning smell. Turns out there was a hat that was inside one of the floor lamps. Luckily we figured that out pretty quickly, it could have easily turned into a fire. It was then that I realized we had no one immediately available if there were an emergency. We have used VRBO for more than a decade and have never stayed at a property that did not have a binder available upon check in with emergency numbers, instructions and good to know info for the rental. It is very quiet and a beautiful property (location), but not private. Come prepared with what you need as the nearest grocery store is at least 20-30 minutes away. There are dollar stores about 10 min away for essentials. Sparse towels provided were bleached and mismatched. This property is in a very desolate area. If you're looking for that - great. If you're looking to be near Beaufort, you may be disappointed that it is a minimum 20-30 minute drive. The house attached is also a rental (we were unaware of that as well)...so be prepared to have fishermen coming in at late hours. Overall we were very disappointed and would not stay again. I rarely leave negative reviews, but felt it was necessary in this case to avoid others having a negative experience.

Tiny house Down East

The renovated former kitchen is small- but fine for our needs (just two of us with our dog). We had some problems with the old door but owner was very responsive. Bring your coffee mugs or microwaveable dishes (just paper plates provided). The walk to the sound was short and nighttime view was glorious- very little light pollution. Close to Beaufort and quick ride to Cedar Island ferry to hop over to ocracoke.

Cottage in Davis NC

A cottage label as provided would be more accurate if the property included a kitchen. It was more like a functional hotel room bed/bath/mw/fridge. A five day stay should include more than 2 sets of towels. A industrial Bunn type of coffee maker on property not practical for guests and an upgraded pot or Keurig machine is recommended. Only one disposable coffee cup was available. Went out to buy extra tp as only one roll was there, extra towels and cups. Reasonable assurance of exterminator needs fulfilled should have been evaluated prior to guest arrival. Price per night exceeded actual value of the stay.
