Relaxing on the Tuckasegee

We were all (5 this time) students at WCU in 1977-1981 and wanted to get together and visit the campus and surrounding area. Some of us hadn’t seen each other in 30 years. The River’s Edge was a great place for us. It was very nice and clean as well as close to the campus and the Sylva area. A great place for relaxing on the Tuckasegee!

Little slice of paradise!

Our stay at this home was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views – the pictures simply don’t do it justice! Every morning felt like waking up in a dream, surrounded by natural beauty. The home itself has a special charm, cozy and inviting, and it’s clear that the owners put so much thought into every detail. The hosts were incredible – warm, responsive, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They truly made us feel at home, and it’s clear they care deeply about providing an exceptional experience for their guests. This little slice of paradise left us relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable getaway! Side-note: they even had emergency supplies of power went out, which we have experienced in the past with other vacation rentals, and literally sat there with our cell phones in the dark so nice to know they’re prepared for everything!

Spacious River house

My family had a great time at the property. It was as described and very clean. Beds were comfy. Download the Lake view app so you can track when the river will rise from the Dam. We didn’t catch any trout but we did when we travelled about 15 mins from the house. Great location to get to many of the nearby towns in 30mins or less. My boys loved the game room and the river out back. Would definitely recommended and the Christmas tree and decor made the home comfy.

Great weekend with extended family

Wonderful. Came up for senior night basketball at WCU. Everyone had their own space and privacy. Modern and simple decor, nothing overdone. Lots of “new”. Property managers responded quickly to request and was helpful and accommodating. Layout is a little wonky downstairs but very minor detail. River access, room to walk dog. Great stay.

Beautiful riverside property

Family had a wonderful time for a long weekend. Layout is a little quirky but function great for us. We had experienced one issue with the house but owner was fast to have corrected with minimal inconvenience. Nice level property and decks overlooking the river are very nice. Convenient to WCU, Sylva, and Dillsboro but far enough away from everything as well. Only thing that would have made it better was if the main road wasn’t on the other side of the river. Road noise during the day/evening interferes with the tranquility at times. Definitely would stay again if we are in the area.

Beautiful house and location, but needs TLC

The view was beautiful, but the house needed some serious TLC. The hot tub was clear the first day but by the 3rd day it turned a rusty orange, owner sent cleaning person out to drain and reclean. I think there’s a problem with the water lines, it’s a beautiful house in a beautiful location, I think they just need to hire cleaning people that know how to do a deep clean. The property managers or owners did try to get someone out to reclean it but being a holiday week it was hard. They also did do their best to make us happy and did refund a portion of our stay, for the hassle. Hopefully they can find better cleaning people in the future, because it is a great place to stay especially with a large group of people. We had 8 plus a dog and baby and plenty of room to spread out. With a little cleaning and TLC this place would be a perfect getaway retreat.

Enjoyed our stay, but could use some updating

Overall enjoyed our stay and feel like this was accurately described online, but felt it would be helpful for future guests to make a couple notes. This is a huge house and with a group of 6, it was nice to have the two main living spaces. But the whole thing is connected together like a weird maze. Two of the bedrooms are connected, meaning you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the bathroom. It was OK for our group since we only used 3 rooms, but I could see how this could be really inconvenient. The dishwasher isn't properly anchored to the wall and we narrowly avoided disaster the first time we unloaded it. There was definitely dirt/unwashed surfaces and the furniture is pretty old/worn in. Again, we enjoyed our stay, had plenty of room and loved the view of the river but these were just the couple items that seemed worth pointing out!

Nice stay for family weekend at WCU!

My family stayed at this property for parent's weekend. The location is remote - and it is beautiful and tranquil. Overall it was a great place for an extended family to stay. If you are traveling with individuals who have limited mobility, it is worth noting that the "main floor" is up a flight of stairs. There is a second living room and small kitchen on the lower floor in addition to the one on the upper floor. There is also one bedroom that needs to go through the another bedroom to access the living spaces and bathroom. It wasn't an issue for us at all, but it might be for someone else. We loved the outdoor fire pit and the river just behind the house. We would stay here again.

Terrific Weekend

Terrific place for a relaxing long weekend. All was as advertised. The only minor drawback is that Route 107 is located 100 yards across the river, however the road noise was not a major distraction.

Great location and River access

We were very happy with the house and the owners are the most wonderful people. They responded to messages very quickly and even addressed my feedback about replacing a Queen bed as soon as they got a chance, well turns out they had a King ready to replace and asked if they could come during our visit to replace it to make our stay more enjoyable. Really enjoyed talking to them and hearing their plans for the house in the future. Will definitely look to stay here again. Great close access to WCU and the house has steps down to the river so you can tube down if you come prepared for that. Cell service is limited but the wifi service in the house was great. We even go to enjoy a couple of reservoir releases by Duke Energy to see the river rise, one planned and one not planned LOL. No worries, water doesnt come close to the house but was fun to watch the river.
