The DuPont Registry of Fine Homes describes Puertocito Point as, 'Undoubtedly one of Costa Rica's premier properties with an over the water feel unavailable virtually anywhere else in this beautiful and diverse country.'

Puertocito Point can be privately reserved as a 2 to 4 suite vacation rental with occupancy up to 10.

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, you will find the Main Villa with unobstructed 180 degree panoramic ocean views. The Villa has two King Suites and a private sun deck and pool. A stones throw away you will find two suites in the Guest Cottage with private ocean view decks and full baths.

This private Estate is set on 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, surrounded by lush rain forest and mountains. The property is bounded on all sides by protected nature reserves with abundant wildlife.

Featuring friendly and experienced local management, the Point is a special destination, one you won't forget.

More About the Property: Puertocito Point is built as close to the Pacific Ocean as allowed under Costa Rica's strict environmental laws: 50 meters from the high tide mark. From the Main Villa atop a cliff, you will find jaw-dropping unobstructed 180 degree Pacific Ocean views. The Villa's twelve acres are sandwiched between protected green zones to the north and south with a dramatic backdrop of first ridge mountains and a combination of primary and secondary rain forest. It's a unique setting that delivers the scenic beauty and wildlife you expect from Costa Rica. Geographically, we are located in Costa Rica's more tropical and much less developed Southern Zone, making this an ideal place to experience the country's natural splendor. Despite its privacy and tranquility, Puertocito Point is just a minute from the Coastal Highway and a few minutes drive from the towns of Dominical and Uvita with a variety of amenities, including restaurants, shops, groceries, banks, etc.

For swimming and boogie boarding or surfing we recommend a two minute drive to Puerto Nuevo, a virtually private beach. Two boogie boards are on the house!

The Main Villa is comprised of a Master Suite with a California King bed and a Junior Suite with a king bed, each with its own full bath. There is also a half bath off the Great Room. Bedrooms are air conditioned, common areas are not but have large ceiling fans.

The master suite also features a Tower Room up the stairs from the bedroom with great views of the pool and ocean below. A great place to do yoga, meditate, or just enjoy the view.

With a brand new (August 2014) NetSys dedicated high-speed internet service, our fast WiFi is great for those who need to stay connected to family, friends, and/or businesses during their stay. Those with GSM phones will also enjoy strong cell phone reception, including 3G data access for browsing and email.

The Point's abundant wildlife gives guests the real experience of being in a tropical rain forest without trekking all the way to Manuel Antonio. Birders and nature photographers will not be disappointed by the property's incredible biodiversity.

The property overall has benefited tremendously from a continuous capital improvement program started in 2010 and continuing through 2014 with $50,000 of renovations to the property in the past two years. The program has completed numerous upgrades to the villas, including new roof, new windows, new pool and sun decks, new electrical lines, new water lines, fresh paint, new lighting fixtures, new master shower, upgraded Internet service, new TV, and much more.

Guest Cottage: In The Guest Cottage there is an upper King Suite and a lower Queen Suite, both with a full private tiled bath and a private furnished deck with yet another lovely ocean view. All this less than a stones throw from the Main Villa. Bedrooms are air conditioned.

Puertocito Point is very close to a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, banking and any other services you may need. There is a doctor, a pharmacist and dentist located right in Dominical, all speak English.

Your local property managers are available during your stay to offer advice on various local activities and address any service needs at the property.

Your stay at Puertocito Point will be a once in a lifetime experience, unless, of course, you return next year!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please contact us regarding availability. We maintain a separate reservation calendar from this site.
____________________________________________________________________________
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR STAY: For last minute reservations over the next 60 days, maid service will only be provided for an extra charge of $45 per day (Ask your host to schedule and for details). There is no guest access to laundry facilities at the villa. A $400-$1000 cash deposit (depending on the size of your group) will be required at check in to cover any damage or missing items.

Christmas Holiday

We so enjoyed our stay. Indra was most helpful with booking, directions, and scheduling extra activities for us. The location was just behind the Cuna de Angel hotel with a great view over the ocean with the ability to see the sunrise and sunset over the ocean every day! It was so nice to have maid service twice the week we were there..

Stunning Views

This was our second stay at Puertocito Point. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The pool is delightful and private. The view is amazing and there is lots of wildlife to entertain! Our concierge, Indra, was extremely responsive and helped us navigate our COVID tests! Wonderful place to stay!

A slice of heaven!

Absolutely loved this place! The views are absolutely breathtaking (pictures don’t do justice). Great proximity to waterfalls, beaches and wonderful food in Dominical. Our host, Gary, was quick to respond. Can’t imagine a better experience - it was truly a slice of heaven!

Stunning place, totally recommended

We recently stayed here for a quick family holiday, it was a short stay of 4 nights but we enjoy every minute of it... the house is great, the area is super nice but the view and breathtaking and brings so much peace to you that is just something you can experience by being there... the host Alejandro was very helpful with everything and was always available... There were only two safety things we advised to Alejandro since we had a couple of accidents, so hopefully they can make the enhancement to the property and make it safe for everyone.

Perfect grandparent/parent/grandchildren vacation

Beautiful spot. Lots to do: horseback riding, zip lining, surfing, swimming. Kitchen could use some updating...we could never figure out how to use the oven...but the hotel next door has fabulous food. Central part of house has no ac and the afternoons are very hot. The grandparents retreated to the beautiful air-conditioned casita for a nap during those hours. The living area could use better fans. We would happily return.

Incredible views, great interior, well stocked.

A group of 10 of us stayed here, and had an awesome time. Kim was super helpful and courteous, the views were unreal, and the overall experience was awesome. There are mango trees that you can pick some fresh mangos from, and you are pretty much in the jungle, so wildlife sightings were common (note that does include some large insects). We went for Memorial day, so the start of the rainy season, but most days were sunny up until about 3:00 pm. They don't observe daylight savings in Costa Rica, so the sun is high in the sky pretty early, which is great. Overall, awesome experience.

Incredible!

HOLY COW! Do you want to pinch yourself every morning and say "Am I really sitting here in paradise in this beautiful home with the most awesome view ever?" It's your "own" private resort with pool, killer views, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and privacy. Family of 4 stayed here. Kids swam whenever they felt like it, we stood on the deck(s) and watched birds & monkeys. I highly recommend this beautiful property. The property owners and the rental agency will bend over backwards to make your stay run smoothly. The Klines

A Piece of Heaven on earth!!

This was one of the most breathtaking places imaginable! From start to finish, everything about The Edge was way beyond expectations. To find this type of value in such a premier property is unprecedented. We couldn't believe it, and intend to share our little secret with people we know would truly appreciate the unique experience this private villa offers. Can't wait to go back. This is Costa Rica at its finest....great service, relaxing privacy, & everything & anything else just minutes away. WOW!! Kate & Jeff

Great place to relax and use as a base to explore!

My wife and I stayed here for nine nights, 5 with another two couples. The house has breath taking jungle and ocean views. We saw more wildlife in a morning around the house than we did at Manuel Antonio! The house has a nice kitchen and dining area; the bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds. We loved being able to slide away the glass doors so were able to live inside out. the one potential improvement here would be to have one set of windows / doors with screens so we could let the breeze in at night and keep the bugs out. Massi and Charlie were very helpful before we arrived and we didn't need to contact them while we were there. We're planning our next trip back here already.

Special place

The Edge at Puertocito is a unique house in a spectacular location. Located at the tip of a ridge with 180 degree ocean views, the great room is open to sea breezes and the sound of crashing surf. There are some small issues that are inevitable with indoor/outdoor living in the tropics (such as outdoor furniture can get dirty or wet, bugs can get inside, etc.) but definitely not a big deal. We actually didn't get a single mosquito bite the entire week and we weren't using bug spray! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We saw wildlife every day (dolphins, turtles, monkeys, raccoons, toucans). Sitting out on the deck at sunset feels like best spot in the world. Highly recommended!

Absolutely beautiful!!

We had a great vacation at Casa Puertocito. This house is amazing with beautiful views and very comfortable. A nice place to "come home" to after a day out and about exploring the richness of the area. We were a group of 8 (2 adults & 2 kids) x2 and there was tons of space for us to be together and do our own thing without getting in each other's way. The main house was perfect for all of use to hangout in during the day and at night, one family slept in the main space and the other family used the "casita" which was about a 1 minute walk away. Casita had it's own spectacular view so no one missed waking up to the stunning landscapes and ocean views. We had one minor issue with the water one night but our host Gary got immediately on it and had someone drive out to the house within minutes of us reporting it so essentially it was a non-issue. Gary was super friendly and accommodating. Our housekeeper Gaby was so nice as well, just a pleasure to meet her and added that sense of being in a hotel. All in all, Costa Rica is a marvelous place and we will definitely be returning. I can recommend this house 110% to make the experience just so much better.

Incredible location with breathtaking views

The house and property were exactly as we would have imagined--everything was very well cared for, property meticulously manicured, and the house was spotless when we arrived. It might have been helpful prior to arriving to have a floor plan so that we could think about where the children might sleep, etc. but we managed just fine. We are a family of five (children ages 8,10,11) and fit in the house comfortably. We had access to the guest house, but did not need it or use it. The main house has a very large open central living space--kitchen, dining room, living room and small media/study alcove--w/ screened windows (and not air conditioned, but comfortable when the sliding doors are open). The two bedrooms are on either side of the main living space. The master bedroom is very spacious, has a king size bed, with its own sliding door to a small deck, and the master bathroom is very large with open air (screened) windows and a bidet. The second bedroom is a little smaller, with its own bathroom. Both of the bedrooms are air conditioned & cool off very quickly when turned on at bedtime. Adjacent to the master bedroom (you have to walk through the master BR to get there) there is a small loft in a turret with screened windows all around, but no A/C--this would have been a great spot for one or two of the kids if it was air conditioned! The pool was well cared for and clean, a good size and we spent most of our down time at the house swimming in the pool. The guest house has 2 separate apartments which do not connect, each have their own balcony that faces the ocean. The upstairs unit has a sitting area with TV, A/C and kitchen, bedroom separate w/ its own A/C & bathroom; the downstairs unit is a bedroom w/ bathroom & balcony. All of the furnishings & decor were appropriate to the house's style and we loved it. The only aspects of the house that might need some attention were a few loose boards on the deck and some loose tiles in the main house--which were mentioned to the house manager, and they plan address these issues. The house is right near the Hotel del Angel, which has a wonderful restaurant (serving all gluten free organic food) and spa services. Quick drive into Dominical (~7-10 min?), even though it looks far away on a map. The rental service was ok, not as helpful as concierge services offered to friends of ours renting a house down the street. Would definitely recommend this house to families or groups of friends!

NOT AS ADVERTISED: Rundown, not luxury!

The setting for The Edge is incredible, but that's where it ends. The "luxury villa" is anything but that. It is in dreadful need of renovation. When we arrived, the house was sweltering. The host said the a/c was just in the bedrooms, which was not as advertised at the time. She said to sleep in the tiny guest room until the other a/c unit was fixed. This wouldn't have been so bad but the room was filled with mildew. We looked to cool down with an ice drink, only to find that the icemaker and the refrigerator didn’t work. As we did not feel safe with a stranger in the house, we were stuck while we waited for the a/c repair man who finally came after 3 days! We also did not feel safe as we could not lock the house due to the numerous un-lockable entrances and lack of alarm system. Dealing with the heat, mildew, and insects caused my husband to become very ill. So much so, we had to take him to the hospital. Being situated in the jungle is a great selling point, but the jungle should and can very easily remain outside where it belongs. The house is not screened in and has openings for insects, rodents, and larger wildlife alike, including monkeys. This forced us to wear bug spray in the house, yet we still got bit! The geckos leave their droppings all over the house. One night, we awoke to bats flying directly over our heads who just crashed in through a broken window. This was a very horrifying experience. The other amenities advertised had issues as well. We had no wireless internet as promised. The TV is situated in a corner that has no curtains and only has value at night as it is impossible to see it otherwise. The frequent power outages are causing the TV tube is go out. Furthermore, the master bath shower sprayed everywhere as the pipes LOUDLY KNOCKED. Lastly, the image of the shaded tree deck overlooking the water has been cut down. It was the only shade provided out there, and thusly, without it, makes it too uncomfortable to be there in the day time. Ultimately, the setting of the Edge is gorgeous, but the house is so rundown that it makes enjoying the view near impossible. The description should be changed to represent reality. The owners are attorneys and should know better. Your dream vacation should not be a nightmare, bats included! Update: The owners agreed to a refund, but true to form, have yet to live up to their word. We are waiting for a resolution from HomeAway.

Sweet paradise

Turning into the driveway we were met with a treetop welcome - a family of spider monkeys! Our 3 year old was squealing with excitement. A dirt track led us to our haven, approaching the villa we had entered an Oasis, our own private Idaho. Gary was there to greet us and show us around. He’d also organised some groceries for us. First impressions; the villa is immaculate and the view is to die for, ocean as far as the eye can see. Equipped with sliding glass doors the entire front of the house opens up leading you to a beautiful decking area including a ‘floating’ deck overlooking the ocean. With a selection of outdoor couches and a hammock to relax in, you won’t be stuck for places to chill. As if that wasn’t heavenly enough the steps lead us down to a private pool with its own vista deck, complete with sunloungers and chairs. Spend enough time swimming and you’ll see plenty of the local wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot monkeys, toucans, kinkajou, vultures and eagles. The tranquility is immense, each outlook offering its own unique perspective on this beautiful place. The kitchen is well equipped and each of the two bedrooms in the main house has its own private bathroom. There’s a big dining table comfortably seating 10 people. The separate casita is a 30 second walk & has its own impressive sun decks overlooking the jungle, inside there are two en-suite bedrooms and the upstairs also has a kitchen. In the main house there is a laundry, a dishwasher, air conditioning, a gas BBQ - all of the home comforts to make your stay more relaxing, with a maid service included to change your beds and clean the place, a couple of times a week. I cannot recommend this villa enough, you will be impressed and delighted! One tip, if you’re asking for groceries to be there on your arrival be aware that asking for stuff you’d usually get at home could come with a hefty import price tag. It’s reasonably well priced to eat in Costa Rica if you stick to locally produced items. I also thought the maid was coming every other day but she only came once during our visit. Perhaps I misunderstood.

The Point's owners believe that travel is one of life's great privileges, allowing us to experience new people and places to forge enduring memories. We share a love for the tropics, natural beauty, and adventure, so we could think of no better jumping off point than southern Pacific Costa Rica.

Why they chose this property

We come from a long history of adventure and outdoor travel, and we have seen tropical real estate the world over. When one of our friends introduced us to the Point, we knew it was a special destination. The views, the wildlife, and the privacy sold us immediately on this spot, not to mention the convenient location relative to the highway, airports, and local communities. We maintain that this property is without equal in the southern zone.

What makes this property unique

-- Panoramic ocean views perched atop a cliff
-- Lush tropical setting
-- Total privacy
-- Rich wildlife: your own private Manuel Antonio
-- Proximity to area amenities and transportation
-- Professional reservations and property management
-- Unique and attractive home decor
-- Beautifully landscaped courtyard and grounds
