We were in the area visiting family and Misty's property was a perfect, comfortable home base for us and our two pups. The property has all of the basics and the neighborhood is very walkable.
The house was clean, comfy, and dog friendly. We appreciated there not being a limit to the size of the dogs. We often find "dog friendly" rentals are only open to small breeds. We rented this property for its proximity to the Grand Caverns. It was perfect and cozy, especially on a cold, rainy weekend.
We come to Virginia every thanksgiving to visit family and host thanksgiving. This place was perfect for our family. The only very small issue was it seems the neighbors dog loves to leave presents in the yard. Other than that everything else was great!
The home was exactly as described. It was the perfect space for our family, as we were in town visiting family. Great location, quiet neighborhood and quick short walk to a nice little coffee shop. Excellent, and we will definitely be booking it again for our future visits.
All the major items were 100% for this property:
Cleanliness (perfect)
Parking (2 driveway spots plus ample street parking)
Appliances (fridge, dishwasher, laundry all excellent)
Homewares (nicely decorated, decent kitchen equipment)
Location (grocery store nearby and a few dining options, very close to Grand Caverns)
Wifi (solid)
Comms were a little slow, but never negatively impacted my plans.
Would absolutely stay again, without hesitation.
House was great, travel to and from JMU campus was easy drive. Walking distance to one yummy restaurant (Lil’ Gus’s’).
Previous reviews said mattress and pillows weren’t comfortable. We thought the mattresses were just fine. The pillows were very thin/soft so if you need lots of thick pillows, I suggest bringing your own.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others
This wonderful house was ideally located in Grottoes for our family to visit Charlottesville and Harrisonburg. New and clean throughout, the house was modern and contained the bare essentials to make our stay enjoyable. Misty, our host, was very responsive and made sure we had everything. Highly recommend a stay in Grottoes; we plan on coming back!
We had a nice stay and got to enjoy Family Weekend at JMU with our daughter. We loved how the house was decorated and it was larger than I expected. We were able to bring our dog which was nice. Hope to stay again!
This was an awesome, cozy place to stay in the area. We planned a two-day trip to Massanutten and this unit was about 20 minutes from there with literally no traffic. Convenience and grocery stores were right down the road. The place is very accommodating, with pretty much everything you need and the host is wonderful. Big thumbs up on this one!
House is a appealing remodel of an older property. It is the nicest house on the street. We felt safe in this sleepy neighborhood. Very close to caverns which we visited. We found that the house needed a deeper clean but we are quite picky : ) We did not find the living room furniture comfortable or the beds. It was a great location for us as we were visiting with family in Harrisonburg which is about a 20 minute drive away.
Super cute interior that fit our needs perfectly. Looked like it was decorated by Chip and Joanna Gaines! Surprisingly roomy inside. Loved having the two bathrooms and three bedrooms worked perfect for us, our two adult children and their spouses. We didn't have any young children staying with us. The location was perfect for us as my brother only lived three minutes from this property and that is who we came to visit. We look forward to renting this property again in the future.
The home was just adorable! The host was very easy to get up with. A few issues, the beds were very uncomfortable, there were lots of ants, they had traps but they just weren’t working. We all have that issue from time to time. There were no washcloths, furniture was very uncomfortable… but it really was an adorable house! The layout was great.
I’ve been renting homes for trips for the past 3 years, once my sons grew taller than me. I can honestly say this was the best experience I’ve had in the USA.
The host was responsive and went above and beyond, knowing we were traveling with dogs. There were dog bowls, treats, and waste bags in the home for our pups.
For us humans, the house was spotless, lots of towels and linens, paper products, stocked kitchen, stocked laundry, quality soap/hand sanitizer/hand lotion, beautiful farmhouse decor that made you feel at home.
TVs in living room and bedroom worked with our streaming services and we plugged in the laptop to watch NFL playoffs.
Neighborhood is quiet. There are dogs to the right and back so we were careful to not go out back of those dogs were out, which only happened once. There is ample front yard grass to take out the dog. Front porch and back patio would be great for warmer days.
Location was great for us. 20 minutes to Massanutten Resort, which did not allow dogs, and 20 minutes to Harrisonburg. For suburban folks like us (and city folks), there’s no food delivery and you will need to drive at least 10-15 minutes for a good restaurant. This is no knock against the listing. Just an FYI if you’re not used to rural life.
This house was perfectly located for our family, very clean, comfortable, and quiet. My grandparents stayed in the house and they were happy to be on one level. Check in was super easy and Misty was very communicative and helpful. Would definitely recommend this stay!
We really liked this rental. Check-in was easy, the owner was communicative, and the property was clean. We loved the little extra special touches like the basket of toys for kids to play with and all the neat decorative items.
The house is exactly as pictured. Super clean. Easy check in and out process. Most importantly it’s pet friendly!! Great location, close (7 min) to some beautiful hiking trails in grottoes
We really enjoyed our stay! The property was beautiful and very clean. It was in a convenient location to the Grand Caverns, and within 15-30 minutes driving distance to Massanutten, wineries, and hiking.
This is a wonderfully decorated and outfitted house! Super clean and had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. It’s very close to a ton of outdoor activities…which were unfortunately closed due to a large snowstorm! Host is very communicative, check in and check out we’re very easy, and if anything, the photos don’t fully capture how nice the house is. Would definitely stay again!
