All roads are clear and available to rent post Helene. Beautiful Buck Mountain cabin sitting privately on top of 5 acres with long range mountain VIEWs to watch both sunrise and sunset from the wrap around covered porch. Sit by the gas firepit and enjoy the view. 4 step entry into 1st floor with kitchen, dining, family and ensuite master bedroom. Downstairs is the second bedroom with a queen size bed and bunk bed, full bath, laundry room. Buck Mountain has so much to offer...hiking trails, waterfalls, stocked fishing pond all within a private gated community. Wifi high speed internet and cell phone service!

Area attractions include: App State, Merlefest, FaithFest, Apple Fest, N.Wilkesboro Motor Speedway, New River tubing, trout fly fishing, skiing, antiquing and so much more! Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 8 miles away(boat rentals available). Ski resorts such as in Boone (20 minutes away) or an hour to Sugar and Beech Mtn. Tweetsie Railroad is approximately 35 minutes away. For scenic access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, you'll only have to drive 7 miles north on 421!Alpine Coaster in Banner Elk. Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns and many more hiking spots are within an hours drive. Shopping and day tripping to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, West Jefferson. Wineries in Boone (Grandfather winery), West Jefferson(Old Barn Winery), Blowing Rock, Elkin(many off of 421) are a wonderful way to spend the day.

3 night minimum on holiday and special weekends (4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Merlefest). 4 night minimum for Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday.

Beautiful views

House has everything you could possibly need and then some. Very clean and bed slept great. Fantastic views from every point of the property. Will definitely be back.

Best cabin ever!

My husband and I go to the mountains every year in the fall. This is the absolute best cabin we have ever stayed in. There is nothing we needed that wasn’t provided for us. From the time we pulled in the driveway till we left, we had everything. One of the best parts was the awesome front porch and back porch views of the wide range mountains. Kitchen was fully equipped. Beds were so comfortable. Just can’t say enough about this cabin. Kathy was so helpful with any question I had from check in to check out . We will definitely go back next year. Thank you, Kathy for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Relaxing

We had a fantastically relaxing time. Cathy has a beautiful home situated overlooking the east and west. The sunrises through the trees and the sunsets over the mountain in the horizon was breathtaking. I wish I was still there. :-)

Great mountain retreat!

We spent 2 weeks at this homey and comfortably mountain home! Our host Cathy provided everything we needed to make our stay the refreshing, cool-air reprieve we were looking for. We have come to the NC mountains for a number of years, and my son and his wife said this was the place they've liked the best. The views were o/standing. Our communications with Cathy made it clear that she wanted us to enjoy her place. I would recommend her cabin to anyone.

On the Rocks - your home away from home!

The cabin, On the Rocks, offers beautiful mountain views on the east and west sides as you sit on the wrap around porch. The surrounding was so peaceful, allowing us to take in all the sounds of nature and enjoy a quiet and relaxing weekend. The cabin was well furnished--the kitchen was the most well-stocked of any that we have ever had other rentals, the beds were extremely comfortable, especially after a long day of hiking in Buck Mountain and the surrounding areas, and the bathrooms were well-stocked and clean. Cathy, the host, was very responsive to any questions we had before arriving at the cabin, and easy to get in touch with if we needed anything. If you're looking for a place to stay in the Buck Mountain or Purlear area, look no further! You've found it at On the Rocks!

A beautiful cabin with views on both sides.

My wife and I had an overnight stay at this cabin. The cabin is perfectly positioned, with decks which benefit from extensive mountain views on both sides. Being February we did not spend much time outside, but found the inside delightfully comfortable. The cabin was warm and cozy with tasteful decor. To our delight the lounge also had recliners, which made for an even more relaxing evening. The cabin was spotless and has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The owner was very responsive and kindly allowed us to stay longer at the cabin without us even asking, when our two night stay was cut to short due to unexpected work obligations. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

Simply wonderful

This was the first vacation my family and I took since my mom passed two years ago and it was absolutely wonderful. The cabin was pristinely clean, warm and welcoming. We felt very at home and great communication with the owner. She is lovely and the views are spectacular. We loved the privacy and quietness of the beautiful cabin. Highly recommend a stay.

A little Piece of Heaven

What can we say!! We were looking for a place where we could relax, see the mountains and just enjoy some piece and quiet.. the Cabin is UP on top of the mountain just as described.. the views are spectacular. The owner has gone above and beyond to provide all the comforts of home... and you will wish you never had to leave!! Cathy was so helpful with any questions we had and all the information we needed before we got there... it is truly one of the best places and "feel like home" places we have stayed in over 30 years, and we travel alot.... thank you Cathy for a wonderful trip, we hope to come back!!

Awesome views

This cabin was just what we needed! Such awesome views of both sunsets and sunrise. Weather was different on each side of the wrap around porch. The cabin was beautifully decorated. Cathy had it stocked for what ever was needed. The cabin was secluded and so peaceful. We can’t wait to go back!

Spectacular mountain views

Fantastic family memories at this well-appointed, immaculate cabin with majestic views of God's country. The property owner is very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We stayed 2 nights and wished we had planned a longer stay because we enjoyed it so much. The cabin has a unique feature where you can take in the sunrise in the morning AND reflect on your relaxing day with a sunset view from the wrap-around porch, wine is optional.

Great getaway

Picture Perfect

Our family booked this beautiful home last minute and the owner was one of the most helpful and kind owners I’ve ever experienced through VRBO. She really cared about making sure we had everything we needed and helped with wonderful ideas for exploring the area. The home was perfect and I can’t imagine there being a better place to witness both sunrise and sunset views than from her porches. We had a perfect weekend and are thankful she shared her home with us!

Anniversary Trip

My husband and I made a quick get-a-way to the mountains for the weekend to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The cabin/house was amazing. We had everything we needed there. The views are even better than the pictures. We sat on the porch both nights and watched the sunset together. Everything about this place is 5 stars including the host.

Home away from home

Our three-night sojourn at "On the Rocks" was awesome. The wrap-around porch gave us stunning views of the Brushy Mountains, and we could even glimpse Grandfather Mountain. The well-equipped kitchen, made meal prep easy, and we were thankfully spared the scavenger hunts for cooking implements that are typical in rentals. When we came in damp and soggy, the flip of a switch ignited gas logs, and we soon were warm and cozy. Our wet jackets were in the dryer as we relaxed with a glass of wine and discussed the day's adventure! Our host, Cathy, was very communicative and available by text to answer any questions we had. She has put a lot of effort into her property which makes it feel more like a friend's home than a rental. The drive up the mountain from US Highway 421 takes about 10 minutes. The road is curvy but paved and well-maintained. We have wonderful memories of our stay, and hope to come back again next year.

Couldn't ask for better ...

First off I don't leave reviews ... until today. My wife and I were thoroughly relaxed and felt at home here. It was very cold, so we didn't get to enjoy the views as much as we wanted. However, you couldn't miss it out of the windows. The owner did a great job in making sure this was a great experience, and stayed in constant contact. We had everything at our disposal that we could possible need. We will certainly be back on our trips to build our own cabin in Buck Mountain.

Excellent Cabin

Excellent cabin with outstanding views. The cabin was attractively decorated, very comfortably furnished and impeccably clean. The kitchen contained anything you could need. The cabin felt like someone’s home rather than a rental. The wrap around deck provided miles of mountain vistas with sunrise and sunsets. The owner was immediately responsive, friendly and helpful.

Perfect experience!

I have nothing but positive to say about this rental. The location/views are spectacular and I cannot get over how nicely decorated and clean the cabin is…too many special touches to list. Also, the owner went above and beyond to supply all the necessities in the kitchen and bathrooms. She was so accommodating and thoughtful…checking on our stay after 1 day to make sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone interested!

We enjoyed our stay and the views were beautiful. Sitting on the wrap around porch allowed for amazing sunrises and sunsets The unit has everything for you and even some things you would not have thought of. This is a place to escape to and get away from the hustle and bustle and spend quality time with your family or even on your own.

Great views, quiet and relaxing....

with multiple outdoor seating options from front porch or back porch! And thank goodness for 2 ceiling fans on each of the porches for the July heat. We enjoyed exploring Buck Mountains and hikes and the waterfalls in this private community! We went out every other day - One Day to Grandfather Mountain one day Mount Jefferson. We were quite comfortable in this cabin for our little getaway!

Great View!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at On The Rocks. Cathy was so easy to communicate with-she was friendly and gave prompt responses. Her property is very clean and has all you need for an enjoyable stay. All the extra amenities were very appreciated, from bathroom toiletries like shampoo & toilet paper, to storage bags and paper towels, she thought of it all! The reclining couches and beds are very comfortable. We slept very well, even after losing an hour to daylight savings time. LOL Buck Mountain is a lovely, safe, quiet, gated community. Don't miss Staghorn Falls! The road up to the property looks rough, but we had no trouble reaching the cabin with our sedan. The ride from the main road to the cabin does take a good 10 minutes and could be a bit of a dark and scary ride at night. We made sure to return back before nightfall.
