We booked this as an overnight stop and wow! The grounds here are beautiful! There are tons of gorgeous old books that you could spend weeks perusing as well. We are already trying to figure out when we could potentially come back here for a longer stay.
We had a wonderful stay. Very comfortable, clean& spacious. We learned so much about the beautiful property and my husband enjoyed walking the trails. Close to everything we wanted for the weekend. Bed was really comfy!
Clean house - Views were outstanding! Nature walks were rewarding viewing all the different species of bushes & trees. We were able to pick blackberries and enjoy different flowers.
Listening to a concert on the premises was truly the icing on the cake.

Terrible experience with bug bites while sleeping there.
The house was clean and in good condition. The owner was friendly and accessible. Despite the appearance of the house and not having problems with checking in and out, we experienced terrible bug bites while we stayed in the house and slept in one of the bedrooms and in the living room couch. We reported the matter to the owner and he was understanding about our concern. My husband and my daughter had so many bug bites in their bodies that they had to go to the doctor and they are taking steroids to deal with the skin irritation. We are not sure if the house has bed bugs, chiggers or who knows what they are. Unfortunately, we brought them home too because we continue getting bites despite washing everything. I contacted the house owner to ask him if he found the source of the problem, so I can deal with the issue at home too, but he did not want to address my concern and instead he blamed us saying that we brought the bugs to his house in our luggage, which is not true. I would not considered to go there ever again or recommend anyone to stay there.
Our bowling team was bowling in Marion, oh. This place was about 15 mins from the lanes and we were all able to stay all together in one place. The weather was cold and snowy so was unable to enjoy the outside patio. The place was very clean well taken care of
Although I currently live in Cincinnati, the property is near Caledonia, Ohio, and I enjoy making the trip to help maintain the house and environs.
Why they chose this property
This is the house I grew up in, and I still consider it my home away from home. The woods and the river seem like part of the family and visiting them in the various seasons gives me a sense of well-being.
What makes this property unique
When my mother passed in 2013, her wish was to convert the house and the 18 acres of woods along the Olentangy (known locally as the Whetstone) River to a Nature Center. We formed a non-profit in 2018 and have been making the house available to guests and the rest of the woods and trails available to the public. Each August, we host the Tunes at Terradise on Saturdays at 5 PM with music on our Pond Stage.
