About this property
The Fernand-Panoramic View-Sathonay-Terreaux
## Space
Beautiful old apartment, fully renovated, located on the 6th floor (no elevator and no light for the top floor), in a typical Lyonnais building. Significant renovations were carried out during December 2024 and January 2025. The bathtub was replaced, the walls were repainted, the refrigerator was changed, and electrical work was completed.
Quiet and bright, it offers 3 sleeping areas with double beds: 2 bedrooms and a mezzanine (with velux window and blackout blind). Nightstands, bedside lamps, wardrobe.
It features a lovely living space with an open kitchen, equipped with antique tiles on the floor, a large fridge-freezer, gas cooking plates (4 burners), oven, microwave, dishes, and kitchen utensils. Kettle, toaster, and Nespresso coffee machine.
A dining table with chairs for your meals.
Bathroom with bathtub, washing machine, sink, and storage unit; hairdryer and towel warmer.
Separate toilet.

## Neighborhood
Rich in historical and architectural heritage, the 1st arrondissement of Lyon is the administrative center of the city, home to the City Hall (see the Terreaux area) and also a cultural hub with the Lyon Opera House.
The recent history of the Opera is marked by the creation of the Opera Orchestra in 1983, which quickly brought together young musicians and experienced section leaders to alternate between repertoire and new works, as well as opera and symphonic music. Prestigious names such as John Eliot Gardiner, its first musical director, Kent Nagano, Louis Langrée, and Iván Fischer have shaped this ensemble.
Place des Terreaux is a key point of the district, with City Hall, a large rectangular building built by Simon Maupin in the mid-17th century, which has four pavilions and a central courtyard. Its architecture was modified by Jules Hardoin-Mansart, the architect of Versailles. The history of this square is marked by the installation of several monuments, such as the Palais Saint-Pierre, which replaced the 6th-century Abbey of Saint-Pierre and became the Fine Arts Museum in 1862. The Bartholdi Fountain, created by the artist who designed the Statue of Liberty, adds to the charm of the place.
Lyon's life is also defined by its grand shopping streets, such as Rue Edouard Herriot and Rue de la République, which continue south into the 2nd arrondissement.
The Croix-Rousse hill dominates the area, adding a rich historical context. The Croix-Rousse slopes are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999. This hill also housed the silk workers' workshops (the canuts) and witnessed their struggles, which are a key part of Lyon's labor and union history. It is also known as "the hill that works."
