Great oceanfront location

It would be impossible to find a better location in Bar Harbor. Located on the shore path with a beautiful eastern view on Frenchman bay, the yard and gardens are exquisite. The house, while quite historic is in need of some updating. The house has old charm, but is in need of new furniture, updated plumbing fixtures, newer cabinets, new blinds, etc. Also, the listing states that there are several fireplaces in the house. Unfortunately they are not usable at the present time (Oct 2024). This was disappointing, but since the weather was unusually warm we were able to still make use of the fire pit. I’m a bit conflicted leaving a review. The location is 11+ out of 10, BUT the house is 6 out of 10. With some solid updates (and fixes) the house could be 10 out of 10.

Perfect base for exploring Acadia!

We had a fantastic time staying in this beautiful house and property. It’s close enough to walk everywhere you’d want to go in Bar Harbor and hop on the free busses to Acadia. We were a multigenerational group and the high chair and pack n play provided made our trip-planning much easier. Highly recommend this gem of a home for anyone’s vacation!

The most amazing home and property

This home is absolutely gorgeous! The host is responsive, friendly, welcoming and kind. She went out of her way to make the home comfortable. The grounds are stunning. The lush gardens and large yard for our grandchildren to play in was perfect. We didn’t want to leave the house because how beautiful the view was. The shore path is still not repaired from the damage over the winter so that was a little disappointing, but did not take away from the joy of this home. There were 10 adults and 4 children and plenty of space to spread out. The home is fully stocked with dish ware and cooking ware. We did not want to leave!

Exceptional Place

Devilstone is an amazing place. The property far exceeded the listing. It was impressive inside and out, comfortable and well decorated. It felt like a step back in time with many antiques and an historic past. Although it is well suited to a wedding or similar event our family of six enjoyed every minute. Only regret was that we didn’t have more family and friends with us to share the experience.

Beautiful Estate and View

The house was in the perfect location with many amenities which made it convenient for our large group. Being able to walk to town either on the shore path or street was great! The sunrise was beautiful every morning and you can lay bed watching it unfold, as well as many other windows in the estate. Kitchen was large and functional, fire pit and grill were great and laundry was a bonus. Lauren was so kind and helpful too! Our favorite part was sitting in the chairs overlooking the sea, pure magic.

Gorgeous property

This place is amazing. There were 9 of us staying at this beautiful property. We had plenty of room. The grounds are breathtaking. Well equipped kitchen for cooking. Our only regret is not finding it sooner and staying for more than three nights.

Beautiful home with lots of history

We loved our stay at Devilstone Cottage. The history of the home was fun to study, and you can’t beat the location. When we entered the home for the first time, it’s like we stepped back in time to another world, and that was quite fun for us. The house worked great for multiple families and lots of kids. We walked to downtown Bar Harbor and also walked the trail right behind the house. If you get the chance, book your stay here!

Wonderful stay in a great location

The stay was amazing. The location of the house is unmatched and despite some lousy weather, the whole family loved our trip. The house was clean, well stocked with everything we could have needed, and the garden is absolutely extraordinary. Add in an ocean view and you have yourself the perfect stay. Thanks so much!

Beautiful Bar Harbor Shore Path Retreat Steps Away From Main Street

We had a lovely time staying at Devilstone Cottage this last week while enjoying an extended family milestone. There were ten of us in total and we had room to spare! Lauren, and her Mom, were the most gracious hosts and the home was tremendously accommodating. Thank you so very much for the opportunity to vacation in your beautiful property along Bar Harbor’s Shore Path!

Amazing Oceanfront Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful, spacious and well-appointed. Everything was clean and in great working condition. The owner was very responsive and helpful. But there is not question that the selling point of this house is the location and views. Directly on the shore path with views of the bay and Porcupine Islands, we spent most of our time in the yard or staring out the large windows. We look forward to returning.

Why they chose this property

Devilstone is a truly amazing place. This home is such a warm and inviting place to gather with friends and family. It’s a place that I love to spend time at any time of year. I love its history and thoroughly enjoy renovating and restoring this slice of Bar Harbor's gilded age.
