Somewhat carelessly decorated holiday home
The positives first. The house was warm and offered enough space for 10 of us to sleep. We arrived at the holiday home and the stairs were frozen with ice without road salt. The floors and bathrooms in the house had been cleaned. In the kitchen the oven, toaster and microwave were not clean and neither were some of the cooking utensils. Not even the dining table was wiped down. The kettle hadn't been descaled for a long time. There were dead flies on the windowsill and old pieces of paper and lipsticks on the chest of drawers. For the first time in a holiday home, our children said that they would not put their things in the cupboards as they were dirty. The couch cushions had signs of wear and it just didn't look inviting. We had ordered duvet covers which only half of the time were suitable for the bedding available. It was all a bit careless. The heating bearings were dripping so we had to towel dry twice a day. A technician who came to fix it told us that the heating had never been serviced and needed a major repair. This also reflected our overall impression. The house was simply carelessly managed and not particularly prepared for guests.
