About this property

The Stella Experience on Lake Toxaway!!

Escape to this tranquil estate nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, on your own private cove - It exudes Luxury!!

Once the playground of Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and Henry Ford - the Western Transylvania County of Lake Toxaway's historical reputation precedes it...

“The season at Lake Toxaway is at flood tide of social gaiety,” the Asheville Citizen reported on July 28, 1907, advertising the resort’s “Annual Regatta and Opening Ball.” “Flood” was a good word choice.

Since the Toxaway Company opened its fifth hotel at Lake Toxaway in 1903, the land of waterfalls had become a top tourist destination.

“A year ago what is now Lake Toxaway was a deep gorge in the mountains, heavily timbered and of little or no use to mankind,” the Washington Post proclaimed in 1904. “And now the Southern Railway is pushing the ‘sapphire country’ along with Asheville and the ‘land of the sky.’”

Lake Toxaway is still the largest private lake in North Carolina and is surrounded by Hawk Mountain, Panthertail Mountain, Cold Mountain, and Mt. Toxaway along with several wilderness areas totaling over 10,000 adjoining acres (40 km2). It lies at an elevation of 2979 feet (908 m).

Lake Toxaway, three miles long and one mile wide and with a shoreline of 14 miles, was the very first lake built in the Appalachians. ... Only property owners and their guests have access to Lake Toxaway who enjoy swimming, boating, waterskiing, sailing and fishing. It presents a cherished mountain living experience that serves as a welcomed retreat from the stress and frenzy of the everyday world. Isn’t this where you belong?

In Town for Wedding

Great Property. This house is a two for one! Two bedrooms are upstairs, off of main room and kitchen -shown in photo. More bedrooms downstairs with an additional family room, and fireplace. Nicely stocked kitchen dishes and utensils. Owner always responded with in 24 hours. Slight confusion with club privileges, but worked it out on sight. Beautiful club. Wonderful staff, good food:)
