## Neighborhood
Villeurbanne offers all the benefits of a large city in a greener and calmer environment, with direct proximity to the chic 6th arrondissement and the Part-Dieu district. By metro, tram, or bus, you will have quick access to all Lyon neighborhoods thanks to the many public transport options available.
Villeurbanne benefits from a rich and lively neighborhood life: young people, families, and retirees, this town offers numerous cultural structures, sports complexes, associations, shops, schools, high schools, and universities.
The diversity of its inhabitants is what makes Villeurbanne unique and rich. With a strong cultural heritage, Villeurbanne is home to historic places such as the Gratte-Ciel, City Hall, Théâtre National Populaire, Anatole France School, Maison du Livre de l'Image et du Son, Studio 24, Astroballe (ASVEL), and the former Bayard or Bally factories. The city continues to evolve with new neighborhoods like the Terrain des Sœurs, where our current Carrare development project is being marketed.
Culture: With varied venues and major events that are unifying, friendly, and creative. Public or private theaters (TNP, Théâtre de l’IRIS), National School of Music, concert halls (Toï Toï Le Zinc and Transbordeur), IAC (Institute of Contemporary Art), an independent cinema (Zola, retro-style), cultural centers (Rize and CCO), a Ninkasi like in Lyon, Maison de l’Image et du Son (the city's media library), Les Invites, short film festival, and the children's book festival.
Sports: Numerous sports facilities, including the Astroballe for our basketball champions!
Two large markets (the "Gratte-Ciels" market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and especially Saturdays; and the fabulous market at Place Wilson on Wednesdays, Fridays, and especially Sundays, where you can find everything at unbeatable prices in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere).
Some good spots and perks of the neighborhood:
The Brotteaux district, typically Lyonnaise, with its terraces and festive spots.
The neighboring Gratte-Ciel district, the heart of Villeurbanne, features typical 1930s architecture (City Hall, TNP...) and many food shops.
The Puces du Canal: a charming small Saint-Ouen market that’s a refreshing change from the overpriced hipster thrift stores in the hills...
The Transbordeur, the best concert hall in Lyon (in my opinion...) is in Villeurbanne!!!
A great library network with many events organized throughout the year.
The Institute of Contemporary Art, with sharp exhibits, is nearby!
The Invites Festival, which attracts more and more people each year.
The famous Parc de la Tête d'Or and its zoo.
All other Lyon neighborhoods are less than 15 minutes away by public transport.
