About this property

'The Retreat' sleeps 12– with mountain view, modern huge kitchen on 15 acres

Enjoy a relaxing vacation in the country on this 15 acre property with wonderful scenic woods all around and an old order Amish village. Private and serene, this home will soothe and delight with an extra large modern kitchen with all amenities, hardwood floors and modern furnishings. Relax in comfortable front porch seating with a view of the mountain in the distance. Within 20-30 minute drive to hiking, waterfalls and beauty in all directions! Has a built in work desk in the modern kitchen and high speed wifi throughout the home.

Venture out and explore the world famous Cumberland Caverns to the East or Old Stone Fort State Park to the South. People travel from all over the country to see these extraordinary caverns. The state park features waterfalls, scenic hiking with easy or difficult levels, and a historic under earth museum. This has been a favorite for my family for many years. If feeling more adventurous, there is Fall Creek Falls and Fiery Gizzard, both close enough for memorable day trips.

Enjoy your very own walking trails that begin directly behind the house and meander through 10 wooded acres. There is a comfortable wood back porch with cushioned seating, tables, chairs and a grill to relax around.

The spacious living room offers wood burning fireplace and a large screen tv with roku. Plenty of comfortable seating for your party. We have a variety of books and board games, great for playing in the living room or adjacent dining room. There is a hammock available and a two seater swing in the yard facing the views.

Unwind as you watch the Amish people go by in their horse and buggies from the front porch, or follow our shopping map to old order Amish homes nearby to stop and buy handmade soaps, pies and vegetables.

Sleeps up to 12 in four bedrooms and the living room. Wood frame toddler bed is also available if mentioned at booking.

Bedroom 1 downstairs has queen bed, bedroom 2 upstairs has king bed plus toddler bed if requested, bedroom 3 upstairs has queen bed, bedroom 4 over garage has queen bed plus futon sofa, and the living room has new pull out queen bed, very comfortable.

The dining room is in the kitchen and seats 6 as-is, available for up to 12 with leaves and chairs added. If toddler bed or dining leaves needed, please mention when booking.

Events may be allowed, please inquire.

Note the family run warehouse/shop on the property is in use M-F. The parking is in the rear of the property and not visible to guests. That building is not available for use for guests at this time.

Contactless check in, thorough cleaning and disinfecting, and a day between guests ensure the highest quality conditions for arrival.

**This home is FULLY decorated for Christmas starting November 28th with Christmas tree, lights inside, outside and tasteful modern decor throughout the home.**

Family group stay

We enjoyed our stay. The house and land are beautiful. We visited the Amish farms and the Amish Four Corners food and deli store. The property is 20 minutes from everywhere which made it a great location for us. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect place for our family.

Our reason for a "reunion" was sad (a memorial service for a family member). We had family arriving from CA and FL and needed be close to McMinnville. Property is beautiful, house is spacious with plenty of places to gather and gab, front porch, back porch, yards (front and back). This was the perfect place for us. Clean and very well kept.

Laid back country life

Excellent property within an Amish farming community. Enjoyed shopping at several Amish vendors for locally grown vegetables. Best local shopping-Country Market and Praters Bar-B-Que. During the week in addition to visiting with family in McMinnville and Manchester, we visited Cumberland Caverns, canoeing on the Collins River, swimming at Rock Island State Park and other local attractions. The only complaint is that the upstairs bedrooms were a bit dusty causing allergy symptoms. For more complete grocery requirements, be prepared to drive into McMinnville. Having grown up in the area, 65+ years ago, it was a pleasure to visit and reminisce. Highly recommend the property for a larger group as it is a pleasant place to stay and roomy for our group of 7.

Christmas Getaway

Everything was extremely nice. The house had lots of board games and movies to entertain. The only thing we left like we were missing was a toaster and very few pans. But we made it worked.

Quiet Country Roads

Pros: Grassy quiet yard for kids to play. Quiet farm roads to walk. Owners were very kind and responded quickly when we had a problem. Games in the cabinets for kids to play. Big nice kitchen. Large master bath. Large master closet (We were able to set up a porta crib inside it for our toddler.) Cons: Over garage room had about 100 live stink bugs in it when we arrived. They were coming through the window unit air conditioner. The owner quickly brought over a vaccum and helped us clean them up. Master bed was a little small for us...either a full or a queen. (There is a king size bed upstairs though.) If you are planning to do day trips to various activities like we did it's a lot of driving on farm roads to get to the interstate...maybe 20 mins.

Serenity at its finest

This property is breathtaking. As soon as you enter you feel like home. It is quiet, private, and serene. You can hear nothing but animals and see the occasional Amish carriage trotting by. It is very conveniently located, yet very private. The property manager is very responsive and friendly. We will definitely be back and we can't wait for that.

Country Living at it's finest!

We loved our stay in the country! The property and house are beautiful! The hosts were wonderful. We loved visiting the Amish shops and eating an abundance of fresh produce! It was quiet and peaceful. There are roads and trails into the woods where our kids could explore, catch bugs and toads. We even caught fireflies in the evening. We would stay there again!

Why they chose this property

We have enjoyed spending many years in this property and knew it would make an amazing retreat and vacation home for anyone! The property is absolutely enchanting for those who want privacy in a park like setting. It's just 20-30 minutes to all amenities without any traffic, plus there is a convenient small mennonite grocery store a mile away at 4 Corners Market with great sandwiches.

What makes this property unique

Park like setting, mountain view, set within an old order Amish village. Great work space for those who need to do a work blended vacation.
