Hill Country Getaway

I rented several cabins with Homeaway Ranch for my family. Very clean. There was a mix up on arrival. We had rented the Farmhouse, but it was unavailable. She offered two additional cabins instead. Disappointed that the family intended for the Farmhouse didn't get the extra space, but the cabin they were in was clean and had everything needed, just a little more cramped for a family with four kids. The Lodge is spacious, good air conditioning, good mattresses, fantastic television and across from the bird sanctuary, which was nice. So much area to explore and horses, donkeys, goats, and a pig to pet. Enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

Nice place to get away to

My sisters and I wanted a place to stay over the holiday weekend that was still close enough to our homes that we could take care of necessary chores without driving for hours. Micky's and Vicky's place provided that retreat for us. Kitchen and laundry in house made everything easy. The ranch critters were all charming. I'm glad I took a full bag of carrots for all the furry hosts!

Read the reviews closely!!!

We just returned from a holiday weekend, which by all accounts, the hosts Mickey and Vicky, did a good job of ruining for us. The "ranch" is billed as a resort with wildlife (horses, goats, etc.), which yes, there are animals there, but a resort is far from the experience. We didn't see any sign of the gourmet restaurant or "cowboy bar." To start- Vicky calls me before our weekend check-in and says the people in the rental we had booked were not leaving. She offers 2 of the smaller cabins and I showed my disinterest. She then offers up the Main House, which was an obvious upgrade, and of course, I thanked her and let her know we were looking forward to it. The main house inside is lovely! Very comfortable. But the deck is filthy. I cleaned that off myself. And don't expect to have anyone over for dinner or to visit because there is a per person charge that Micky and Vicky will HOUND you about all of your stay. (they live on property. We were having my brother to dinner, and they immediately insisted on sending an invoice. We have stayed at over 100 vrbos and NEVER had to pay for a guest. Not only pay extra, but have the owners HOUND you your entire stay. Also, the main house is attached to two smaller cabins and this weekend, our neighbors were a group of drunk 21-year-old boys and their girlfriends. I guarantee M and V didn't know there were 8 of them in 1 cabin. Please read the reviews and don't ignore the negative ones like I did.
