We were part of a theatre group that were performing locally inthe area for the weekend. Myself and 1 other cast member wanted a quiet place to stay and this was definately it. The accomodations were comfortable and the space was charming! We LOVED the alcove space and windows. We will definately be back again - hopefully with more time to enjoy the area.
What an enjoyable gem! My parents and I came into the cities via Amtrak and found this was very convenient to the station with a quick ride. We loved the location being close to downtown attractions yet in a quiet, older neighborhood. Sure, expect some nuances in an older home and on the 3rd floor/attic. (low ceiling on one side of a bed, little nooks around, getting into the claw foot tub/shower carefully as a very petite senior, small kitchenette, etc). We found our stay was comfortable and happy with the thoughtful items for us guests. (snacks, bottled water, makeup face towels included within towels supplied, extra hygiene items within the bathroom mirror cabinet, books & pamphlets about the area’s history on the coffee table). Even having separate HVAC from the rest of the house so we could have complete control over the temperature in our unit was a great perk!We are very happy overall with our stay and hope to see the area again (like the large park across the street) when it’s warmer!
Very neat space provided a great escape for a fun theatre weekend! Loved the tub and Victorian feel. Very cozy and welcoming. Would definitely stay again!
I had a comfortable stay. I could explore the city during the day and come home later on to relax. Gerry was there to greet me upon arrival, making it easy to settle in. Plently of towels and snacks provided. Quiet area. Would stay again.
We really enjoyed our time here! Loved the decor and the spaciousness. The ceiling angles might be difficult for tall people to navigate, particularly at the kitchen counter, but overall it is a great find.
What a charming little apartment overlooking Swede Hollow Park. I adored the uniqueness of the space and all of yhe thoughtful touches to make it a home away from home. Just be sure to duck in some places if you're tall like me! ]
We absolutely loved our stay here! We came into town for a concert and stayed a few extra days to explore the area. The property was clean and very quiet. They had extras, such as coffee, tea, bottled water, and granola bars. There was a small kitchenette. We didn’t need to use it, but It had an oven and stove. We did use the coffee maker and refrigerator. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom was spacious. We were excited that there was a floor length mirror. Many excellent tv options. We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful apartment for our girls trip. Clean and comfortable with all of the amenities of home and even some little extras that really made this property a step above others we have stayed in. Owners very easy to communicate with and very friendly! You won’t regret staying here.
I loved this neighborhood on the hill overlooking swede hollow park and Metropolitan State. A great spot for a quiet getaway. Nice and quiet and night too. Would like more pillows and more operable windows (bathroom especially) for some breeze. Make sure you identify where the lock box is (on the porch and around the corner when you come in the first door.) Overall very nice.
This was our third visit and we will be back again! The space is just so lovely, comfortable, and clean. Michel is so kind and creates a space that is so inviting, with all the comforts you need. From cookware, to coffee, and sweet treats and even a few bottles of water. The bedrooms are well decorated and the beds are very comfortable. We love being on the third floor with a great view of the park across the street. There is so much history about the area and Michel provides information in the suite about a lot of it. We can't wait to come back for another girls trip. Be prepared for a few flights of stairs but the work out is so worth it for the space. Thank you again for providing us such a comfortable, and clean space to relax and connect for our girls trip!
If you have a love of old homes this is it. Nestled in a very diverse neighborhood, next to a very quiet park, this home has everything I wanted and more. Starting with off street parking, which in these areas is not a gaurentee, then on to the beautifully tended garden, it captivates ypu with its beauty and charm. The unit is the 3rd floor that features 2 beautiful rooms and a large bathroom with a beautiful tub to soak in after a long day walking the local attractions. It has its own temperature controls with central air/heating. There is a quaint kitchen, perfect for quick meals or a little bite to eat. It is a on the 3rd floor so do expect stairs, and it is older so the stair case is a bit on the narrow side. This for me was a perfectly acceptable trade off for such a great property. I will glady stay here again.
Amazing and clean cute apartment!! Inside the owner's house - private parking behind the house. Lots of goodies: water, coffee, popcorn, tea, hot cocoa, etc. Free streaming services, puzzles, games, etc. The only thing we disliked was confusion of wheree to enter.
We booked to visit the Minnesota State Fair. It was as advertised, meaning, up 3 flights, etc. Not an issue for us, but it could be for you. The unit was clean and well appointed. The bedrooms were separated and the living space was spacious and fun. Really a unique experience, in a historic home in an old neighborhood. If you have dreamed of taking a bubble bath in a claw foot tub this is your chance. The hosts were friendly and had helpful suggestions for things to see and do.
We would not have found a better place to stay than this magical home during our visit for the Renaissance Faire! It is cozy, quiet, beautiful, and felt like home away from home. I can't recommend it enough! Hosts were absolutely the sweetest!
The apartment in the top story was beautiful-- charming, and cozy. The patio has a beautiful garden with fountain that was wonderfully relaxing. Swede hollow park just across the street was like something out of a fairytale. And, while feeling fairly far-removed from the city, it was so close to many fun things we enjoyed, including Como Zoo and a concert at the Excel Center. I highly recommend a stay here and would love to return, myself.
We came to St. Paul to attend a lacrosse tournament and loved staying at this apartment! The place was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and close to many amenities. We are still in awe at the construction of the home with its beautiful ceiling lines and “nooks & crannies”. The entire home is beautiful and the neighborhood was quiet and quaint. The owners were great with communication and ease of check in/check out. We would recommend!
Loved the uniqueness of this place. We just had a short stay and didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities of this place, but it was clean and very well updated.
Stayed here when we went to St. Paul for Janet Jackson. The apartment is adorable and had all accommodations needed. The check-in process is standard VRBO in that directions are sent days beforehand. Had a difficult time finding the lockbox and there was a small mess-up with check-in, but Michele was quick to make things right and very accommodating. Would stay here again!
(Sidenote: the nearby coffeeshop did NOT open when their hours stated, but Michele has a remedy for this as well!)

I have lived in this property and neighborhood for many years. Three years ago I married Gerry and with his handyman abilities and my love of historical architecture we set about remodeling our third floor attic space. We decided to open an Airbnb after 6 months of work because we like entertaining. I worked for 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Regions Hospital and he is a retired Electrician.
Why they chose this property
This has always been a hidden jewel of an area that wasn't well known. Recently there have been books published, documentaries, and bus tours highlighting the rich history of the area. This is one of the many Hamm's family homes in the area. Parts of the expansive brewery remain and can be viewed from the house. There is also an existing craft brewery in operation with entertainment.
What makes this property unique
We are located in the heart of downtown St. Paul about 1 mile from the Mississippi River. Directly across the street is Swede Hollow Park which is very picturesque with hiking and biking trails and historical features. Our area is quiet and located on a dead end street so no traffic to contend with. We are close to major routes and less than a mile from historic Indian Mounds Park with beautiful views of the city and river. Restaurants and venues nearby or you can jump on a Lyme scooter and ride to your destination.
