Beautiful Spot, Steps Away from the Ocean

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property management is very communicative and helpful! They checked in to see how things were going and responded immediately. I highly recommend this spacious 1-bedroom condo. It has a huge lanai that offers a peek-a-boo view of the ocean - you're close enough to hear the waves and see a few too. The oceanfront saltwater pool was our favorite. There's a little "nook" off to the left of the pool that we dubbed "Mermaid's Cove" as we liked to lay on our beach chairs there and stare at the ocean's beauty. We saw a baby whale splashing off in the distance, which was magical.Highly recommend this property to those who are looking for peace & quiet (quiet times are enforced from 10pm-8am). I will say my 8-year-old daughter was one of the louder people at the pool(s) as it seems to be largely an older group of folks that either reside there for part of the year or visit for long periods of time.

Reviewer Comments: From the moment we walked in, we were very pleased with how it looked in comparison to the photos, very accurate, and such a cozy, cute place! The linens were very soft and clean, each room tidy and relaxing. The appliances were top notch, and we enjoyed how how many items were available in the kitchen for cooking your own meals. We LOVED the fact that Casa De Emdeko has a saltwater pool as well as a regular pool for lounging outside, as well as a place to enjoy the waves and sunsets. It's a very convenient location, and it's great that there's a mini mart around the corner for necessities. Also can't thank Knutson & Associates enough for their top tier communication and care and concern for their guests. We WILL be back! Mahalo nui loa!

Great Home Base for a Big Island Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: When planning our trip to Kona, we chose Casa De Emdeko based on the photos and description. Both represent the condo and property truely. For a family of three, this condo was perfect and felt like home away from home. We enjoyed the spacious lanai to eat breakfast and relax. Everything was clean ready for us upon check in. Knutson & Associates Property Management were readily available via text or call to help out with any questions, needs, or concerns. The condo is close to downtown Kona and right on the ocean. Most of the Big Island has lava/shoreline, and Casa De Emdeko is on such a shoreline. But they have created a nice sandy beach under palm trees to relax at, and an awesome saltwater pool right along the shoreline to swim in. If the ocean has large enough swells, waves can crash into the edge of the pool which is fun! There is a sandy beach 3 miles south of Casa de Emdeko that is great for boogie boarding and diving under waves before they crash on shore (Magic Sands Beach). Great snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park is just a few minutes further down the road (Ali'I Dr.). To the north are great sandy beachs about a 30- 60 minute drive in the Kohala resort areas. I would definitely recommend staying here as a home base for checking out all the Big Island has to offer or as a place to just stay local near Kona and relax. Oh,and the manta ray night snorkel, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau NHP, and Volcanos NP are must see while on the Big Island. If you have little ones and want a calm beach try 'A'opio Beach (accessed via a short trail from Honokohau Harbor).

The lanai was setup was convenient. The TVs were large with great reception. The whole condo was immaculately clean when we arrived and there were all the necessary cleaning supplies included. The kitchen was well laid out and stocked with everything we needed. We loved the shower in the bathroom. It was enormous, with a river rock bottom, a large seat under the showers, 6 nozzles to spray from all imaginal directions. The controls were digital, so that you could set the temperature and flow rates and temperatures that you preferred, and get them every time when you turned it on.And, Knutsons continued to offer needed instructions or help, whenever I needed it.

Can I give more than 5 stars??!!

This place is perfect. Breakfast on the balcony every morning. Great ocean sounds and bird sounds. That’s all you hear. The neighbors are very quiet and the design of property blocks out road noise. Not sure which part was my favorite: fans in EVERY room, the kitchen (with everything you need), the recliner for watching tv (which you probably won’t even do bc of the amazing location), the shower (OMG I LOVE), the balcony, or the pools (the ocean one was my favorite), or the beautiful sunset every night. The bed was good (my husband liked but I prefer a very very soft bed, so this one was normal bed for him), we slept good every night. I left 2 clips to clip the curtains closed so no light gets in, and we bought and left a washable coffee filter so no need to buy filters. Literally this place was beyond what I expected. I planned too much to do and would have stayed in the pool all day. If you have an afternoon flight I would request a late checkout just to use the pool longer (pool house has showers) and for the gated parking. My suggestion is to go south to the KTA for groceries (all others were pricey), and eat at least once at Sunset Kai Lanai (at sunset). The host was very responsive (checked on us before, and during check in just to see if we needed anything). If we ever come back to Hawaii, we will return to this island and this location. I only hope we are able to come back (and would definitely spend an entire day at the pool). Thank you for a wonderful stay.

It was close enough to the epicenter of all the activities to take care of business but also far enough away to be able to retreat and relax. Booking was easy and communication was simple. This unit was just as advertised and our one bedroom condo was still spacious enough to accommodate us when our 2 adult daughters opted to join us! The beds and linens were quite comfortable and the kitchen was nicely stocked so we could cook and enjoy many meals outside on the lanai. We even used the grills in the common area to cook out one evening. The salt water pool and beach area right on the water had breathtaking views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will miss those glorious Hawaiian sunsets!

Beautiful Location and Lovely Unit. However it was extremely musty when we arrived. Smelled as if it had been closed up for months. I was also very disappointed that there was no welcome basket or even some coffee to make the first pot, After traveling all day it's nice to not have to find a store right off the bat, have a snack and a cup of coffee.The water gear that is pictured was also not be found. The property manager did offer to reimburse us if we wanted to purchase some and leave it there for future travelers. This was my first time using VRBO and I found it somewhat impersonal compared to my experiences with other rental sites

Location parfaite, couchers de soleil magnifiques, très bel emplacement. Pas de plage mais deux piscines. A proximité (en auto) de beaucoup de choses. The property was fabulous! We tended to stay out and do all we could on the Big Island, but when we came back we had a relaxing property waiting for us. The other residents were very nice as well. We did utilize both pools and the grills as well, which were all positive experiences!
