We didn't get the checkin information until about 2 hours before arrival which made me very anxious. The owner has a website & as I was trying to find anything about check-in, I saw bring your own towels! We had to stop and buy new towels for our group. He did say that if we needed to he had a few at the house. Upon arrival, you're required to make the beds - and then wash/fold the sheets before you leave! Just bring your own everything.
The view from the deck is amazing - the surrounding area has lots to do & see. The house is spacious & well equipped but needs some TLC. We would stay again, with our own towels & sheets packed....
The property is located on the shore of Lake Michigan and what a beautiful view that is! My sisters and I all enjoyed hanging out on the beach and enjoying the mild weather. The house is large and roomy. There were 7 family members on the trip and we didn’t even use all the bedrooms. This is an older home and a comfortable place to stay, though there were some maintenance issues evident. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
The house was beautiful, and perfect for a large family - Mom and Dad, four adult kids, and 4 grandkids. Wrap around deck was lovely, very spacious and so well equipped! Beautiful Lake Michigan setting, perfect sunsets, beach walking, star gazing (considerate host even alerted us to the Northern Lights sightings!). Hope to come again next year.
For the price, this house worked out well for our group. Plenty of space for 12 people, and located in the woods so it feels isolated even though neighbors are quite close. We spent tons of time on the beach and in the lake. Water is shallow here so great for kids (bring water shoes!) The house is older and has some deferred maintenance issues, but nothing that interfered with our trip.
The cottage was even larger than we expected, and the location was fabulous! The rooms were comfortably furnished. The deck was great for eating outdoors, and the beach was amazing! Our only complaint is that we wished we could have stayed longer! :-)
My family and I enjoyed our stay and plan to visit again next year. The owner gave clear instructions and was responsive to all the questions I had. We spent a lot of time at the beach/firepit area which is lovely. The steps leading down to the beach can be dangerous at night and would recommend solar lights at least at the bottom of the steps. All things considered, we had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again in the future.
Three siblings and their families and their mom stayed at the house which is located in a wooded setting on the beach. Everyone was able to spread out between the two floors so we did not feel crowded. Five kids, ages 6-13, LOVED the loft above the garage. It is a very large room above the garage filled with several beds. (It is listed as being above the garage (which it is) but i thought it was a separate building from the description. The loft is part of the house and has a separate staircase leading to it.) The kids loved having a separate area to themselves. The beach was nice and spacious and you could walk down the beach in both directions. The beach was sandy but the lake had rocks in it. If that bothers you, bring water shoes. The kayaks were a lot of fun. The neighbors we encountered were very friendly. Legs Inn down the street has a huge backyard with a guitarist singing jimmy buffet type songs. The Goodhart General Store has delicious cookies.
This property on Lake Michigan is really beautiful. Nice beach walking. The beach is a little rocky so bring water shoes. We had 13 people and had room to spare which is a first for our group. The dining chairs could stand to be reglued. You have to bring your own towels. It is a ways to a grocery store but that was not a problem for us. The store in Levering was good for emergency items like milk, snacks, and beverages . The IGA in Harbor Springs has everything including an excellent meat department. The family vote was we would rent this house again. This is a first for our family.
Beautiful home in a beautiful part of Upper Michigan
Greg's cottage is wonderful. The views from the balcony after walking into the home are breathtaking. Huge windows in the living room and kitchen bring the outdoors in. If anything can be improved it is the fact that the pictures on VRBO do not do this property justice!
While my group used this cottage as a home-base to ski at Boyne Highlands, we are looking forward to staying at the cottage again in the summer months to enjoy the unfrozen lake.
Lake Michigan is our go-to area for family vacations for the past five years or so. This was our favorite house so far. No, it’s not fancy, and it could use some updating, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The layout was perfect for our family of 16. Plenty of beds. Plenty of space, and just steps from a nice little sandybeach area with a 10ish foot wide layer of rocks just in the water where we found several Petoskey stones. Beyond the stones, the lake is shallow and sandy bottomed and crystal clear. Almost the perfect place!
What a beautiful home and location! It was a perfect home for our large group of friends and will be a perfect place to stay with our families - lots of space for everyone. Greg was a lovely host!!
We were a group of 17 including children of various ages. The property is very spacious and tidy which easily accommodated all of us. The check-in and check-out process and communication with the owner was easy.
The pictures however do not do justice to this property. The place is much much better than the old pictures. We all had a lot of fun.

excellent property, poor management
Wonderful property. Small annoyance like no toilet papers, no maid service to have the beds made, no bath towels, outdated beds ,so on. A small investment to make this property very desirable. Greg sounds like a gentleman. This is not to hurt him, but I am an experienced hotelier. Repeat customers and referring to similar groups will make up for correcting little things.
This vacation home was in many ways perfect for our family of 10 adults and 5 children under the age of 7. The layout accommodates separate bedrooms for five couples and the bonus room above the garage could sleep 7 children. The kitchen is large and well appointed. The living area is spacious and offers a view of Lake Michigan. The location is less than an hour from Mackinac and close to Petoskey and Harbor Springs. The beach and swimming was wonderful and we enjoyed the fire pit while watching spectacular sunsets.
Unfortunately, the home has been poorly maintained inside and outside and was dirty. The listing claims the home is pet free but that is not the case. The living room carpet was covered with dog hair and a neighbor confirmed there had been a dog there the previous week.
This is the first VRBO that we have been required to make our own beds, provide our own towels and wash our bedding before leaving. We also had to bring our own hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags.
The kitchen cupboards were full and so disorganized there was no room for our food. There is at least four complete sets of dinnerware and ample glassware but only 7 teaspoons and 14 forks.
With a little maintenance and deep cleaning this home could easily be Five Star. The home is for sale so hopefully it will receive the attention it deserves.

Thumbs up
Cedar Bend Cottage is a lovely place in a beautiful location. Rooms are nicely arranged for several families/parties to enjoy a measure of privacy as well as joint engagement and activity.
The place does show signs of use, but overall it is in good shape and affords a fine setting.

Beautiful vacation home
Our family of 6 adults & 6 children had a wonderful time at Cedar Bend Cottage the first week of August. The house is very large! The lower level has a huge tv with DVD & VHS player for entertainment on rainy afternoons. There’s an air hockey table. The Harry Potter room under the stairs was a surprise that the kids loved. The private beach is lovely with plenty of room to spread out & enjoy the cool clear waters of Lake Michigan. The kayaks that come with the house rental were a great bonus.
The house itself is a bit care worn but quite comfortable. The area’s natural beauty with eagles flying by daily & a nearby beaver dam make this area a wonderful escape from the hustle & bustle of crowded cities. Nearby Legs Inn serves up delicious Polish food & the nearby Tunnel of Trees is a picturesque ride. Mackinac Bridge & Island are closeby...approximately 35 miles away making a great day trip easy & fun.
Greg was helpful & responsive with the booking & answering questions. If you’re looking for a place to getaway with a large family or group of friends, Cedar Bend Cottage has a lot to offer you.

Huge place and great beach
We really enjoyed our week here. As other reviewers have noted, this house is very large. The deck is huge and really gives a lot of space to even a large group. There are houses next door, but the trees and spacing make it seem almost by itself. The photos don't do the beach justice. It is quite wide and has a very nice fire pit area. There are some six inch or so smooth rocks under the surface, but also areas of sandy bottom--great swimming.

Beautiful Home
After a couple of hiccups when we first got there .....which the owner addressed immediately....we had a wonderful stay. The sunsets were beautiful, especially those where are guests were kayaking on velvet Lake Michigan. We enjoyed making smores at the firepit, playing air hockey, and the cool nightime breezes. The local food was great and we will definitely be back for our next family reunion! Thanks!

Great Rental
We stayed at this rental for our annual family vacation. There was plenty of room for our gang of 14 with room to spare. The home was well appointed and it has a nice beach. Cross Village is a cute little town and is close to some of the bigger northern cities if you're looking for a day trip. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Great rental.

beautiful private location right on Lake Michigan.
This place was perfect for our crowd of 13 with room to spare. It is a family friendly home with something to do for all ages. We especially loved the fire pit right on the beach. Great vacation home!

Beautiful!
The view was beautiful, the house was spacious and it was the perfect getaway. It is only 5 minutes from Legs Inn, which is fantastic if you love Polish food! The beach is gorgeous and while it was a little too early in the season to swim, we hung out down there all weekend. You have very sketchy cell reception, but I thought that was the best part of the vacation.
