Terrible WASP-location
For two weeks we travelled by car from Split to Dubrovnik via different places on Makarska.
Our Croatia tour included a stay on Peljesac. Wasps are incredibly numerous on this Peninsula. We had a huge problem with the wasps at this house. We had booked and paid for one week but had to leave after two nights already. Our kids refused to go outside because of the numerous wasps. Me and my husband got stung on the first day and and to bring food or drink outside was completely out of the question, unless you wanted to eat and drink together with 10-15 wasps circulating around you and some even having a "bath" in your glass. Wasps were everywhere, you need to keep the front door closed otherwise they will enter the house. Perfume or sun lotion was a big No No, you will get "attacked" immediately by the wasps.
The owner was friendly but had no understanding for our problem with the wasps. The small "wasp traps" he put out on the evening of the second day were just ridiculous.
We booked this via Novasol and they also did not understand our problem at all. Their argument was that it is like this in whole Croatia!!!! But since we have visited quite a lot of places we know it is not true.
Just to clarify, we are used to wasps, they do exist also in Sweden, and we respect that you can't influence the nature. But this house and its surroundings are at a "wasp level" that are far from normal. Which is a pity since the house, the view and the pool area are just lovely.
