If you have ever dreamed of living in a tiny house, here’s your chance! Our small cottage is located in our beautiful backyard on a quiet street within walking distance to Truman State University. Although petite, it is delightfully decorated with family antiques and has all the desired amenities for a weekend stay. Newly renovated (foundation work with dehumidifier, new flooring, and remodeled bathroom) in 2024. Because of the size, the bed is just double (an original rope bed—made in the late 1700’s has been fitted with a double mattress). The kitchen is small but sufficient for light cooking. Please note: all the linens and towels are line dried. If you visit during prime flower season a bouquet of flowers from our garden will welcome you!
Free off-road parking Free WiFi NOTE: this cottage is completely smoke free. No smoking of any kind is allowed in the cottage or on the porch.

This is a very cute place to stay, especially if you love antiques and history. A perfect get away for anyone wanting quiet and, perhaps, reading or study time. There is no TV, and due to the antique decor, I wouldn’t recommend this as a place for kids.
The cottage was clean and very quaint. We stayed here for two nights and couldn’t have been more pleased with Lisa’s hospitality. The instructions were clear and the food recommendations were great. The decor was timeless, cozy, and well thought out! We would stay here again!
This is my favorite place to stay when visiting Kirksville. It is nestled in a quiet/safe neighborhood and walking distance to the Athletic complex on campus. It is so comfortable and relaxing to stay here. It's my last year traveling to watch college soccer; I am really going to miss this place!
Absolutely amazing stay in your relaxing, finely appointed cottage
We ( myself and daughter ) having our own place to go nightly after visiting with our son , daughter in law and new grandson ! Perfect location as he is attending medical school nearby as well! Thank you providing us with a home away from home , we will be making future reservations again soon!
This charming cottage was the perfect place for me to spend a week while visiting my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. I felt very much at home with everything that I could possibly need or want there for me. Great communication with the host, the listing is absolutely accurate in every way, and this property was better than I could have ever expected
This is a tranquil and beautifully decorated cottage. Just right for two. Great communication with the host.We highly recommend it and we hope to stay here again in the future!

Very quiet and clean. Front door light is too bright. Possibly add blinds or continue to encourage folks to shut it off at night.
This house is isolated in a quiet, tree shaded neighborhood. It's a charming venue, where I spent three stress-free days. As a singer, I particularly valued bursting into song day or night, knowing I had nobody within hearing distance to disturb! I can't wait to return.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights. It was a very nice, quiet neighborhood. It was close to my family’s home. We loved the furniture in the cottage. We were both comfortable there.
Adorable cottage but immediately upon entering, smell of damp, musty, mildew permeates everything in every room!! Kept windows open on 40 degree night & left the next AM. Lisa apologized for "old-house odors" (her words) & refunded what she could. I feel awful giving this review because one can tell she trys really hard but the smell resulted in early cancellation. I hope she can fix that.
It was such a joy to stay in this VRBO. I rarely give fives when I do reviews but this cottage was excellent and I would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in Kirksville! We had such excellent views out of every window with redbuds blooming at this time of year. The porch bench is a lovely place to sit and enjoy nature, and every detail inside is carefully placed. I would love to return!

Perfect size for the two of us. Antique furniture was nice; tastefully decorated. Good value.
This cottage is beautiful. So peaceful. Great wifi connection. Perfect place for a mom visiting her Truman State daughter. Easily walk to campus. Everything was perfect.
Only thing to be aware is that the cottage works best for shorter people. I am 5'3" so no problems for me. My husband is 6'2" and he might not have done well in the cottage.
I would stay here again. Just wish I would have found this sooner.
