Catch a frog or soak in the all natural cedar hot tub under the light of ten thousand stars. Mountain spring water flows through the taps, lots of firewood for cold winter nights. This quaint bungalow looks out towards the huge shade trees and acres of verdant meadows.
A short walk form the adorable town of Kernville, with boutique western stores and on the river restraints. Enter the house to the main room. Open plan cabin style. The snug den to your right, the kitchenette to your left.
The DEN is centered around the pot bellied stove. Super comfortable twin beds and a spacious sitting area with a large TV. Feed the roaring fire with plenty of firewood from the ranch wood pile.
At the heart of the house is the KITCHENETTE, equipped with a large counter, electric stove top, two mini fridges, a toaster oven, microwave, sink, and laundry facilities.
In the MAIN BEDROOM, lush green floods in very large windows from our vast lawns and meadows. The room has a comfortable queen-sized bed and an attached ensuite bathroom. A gorgeous Victorian headboard from England mirrors the large windows and the young 100ft sequoia trees just outside. Nestled in the corner is a built-in bunk bed, curtained for privacy, with a large wall-mounted TV—ideal for accommodating little ones in need of a time out or enjoying some private TV time. (our family call it the worlds smallest move theater:-)
The BATHROOM has two doors. A private entrance from the main bedroom, and a door to the corridor that leads to the kitchenette and den. A curtained walk-in shower, and a tall, exposed vaulted ceiling make it feel a little bigger than it is.
This listing gives you exclusive access to the interior space. Meadowlands Cottage a wing of the ranch house. It is attached through a locked and insulated door (opposite the bath room door in the corridor between the bedroom and the kitchenette / den)
Our 15 acres of park-like GROUNDS are divided into two distinct zones. The initial 5 acres, located above the seasonal river that gracefully flows through the ranch. This area is shaded by over 100 majestic old trees. With perfuse water pumped from our private Gilbert River, the grass and live thrives. My favorite part is the all-natural cedar hot tub, sitting on a deck next to a swimming hole in the river. We also have a thrilling zip line, and inquisitive mules and horses to say "Hi" to.
The lower area is flood meadows, watch the horses frolic and graze; a blend of natural beauty and ranch adventures. This is a working ranch , part of a worthy charity, One Spade Youth Packers. Run by Reed our groundskeeper, OSYP helps young people with leadership and mentoring; learning back country skills and mule packing.
The ranch has two additional available listings. This is Meadowlands Cottage. There is an attached but separate Mountain View listing next door. A few hundred feet away is the Shiny Spartan listing. We encourage guests to connect with fellow vacationers. I try to be very communicative about the comings and goings of the ranch. Reporting to guests about who is staying nearby and what they might have in common, or what the blacksmith is doing to the horses feet. I hope you get a chance to meet Reid, he fosters a sense of community with the mules he uses for One Spade Youth Packers. For larger groups, consider renting the entire ranch for an exclusive experience.
While exploring our barns and hay loft, exercise caution, as these areas contain tractors and farm equipment essential for ranch operations.
Please note that the outdoor spaces are shared among guests staying in the various listings. Reid visits twice daily to care for the horses and ensure the property is well-maintained. We come up regularly to build a fence or chop a tree, repair a gate or soak up the magic of this beautiful ranch.
Please note that I do not reside on-site and will likely not be physically present during your stay. I take my role as your host very seriously, and I do monitor the various cameras that we have on the entry gate and front doors. I can’t guarantee that something won’t go wrong with your stay, its a big historic property and things happen, but I do my very best to make sure that you have a wonderful time in my care. I know how precious leisure time with your loved ones is and I can promise to do my very best to make sure you love it here:-)
The magic of our property may reveal itself in unexpected ways. Perhaps a herd of deer will grace you with their presence as you witness the sunset over the water meadows. Or your children may frolic through the grass, their hands cradling a newfound frog from the woodpile or a bunch of mint from the felid. Nature and wildlife will undoubtedly make their presence known to you during your stay.
